"Drew" is the past tense form of "draw." However, it's also a nickname for Andrew, which is my name. Unless your name is really "Referance," which is not a word or an actual name as far as I know or can determine with limited research on the internet, I will continue to believe that you merely misspelled "reference" in your PDN, which makes your somewhat condescending and snotty remark defining what a noob may be both ironic and hilarious.

I sometimes do that when my wife is out of town and I get sucked into the black hole of gaming. It always seems like a good idea at the time, but then I'm always grateful when she returns and life is returned to moderately more productive and much more restful order. :)

You know, if you used about half as many words, your posts would be infinitely more readable. Alternately, you could become a lawyer. :)

Hmm... I think that point one on the page you linked to serves as pretty reasonable notice that it's probably better if we don't contribute.

Actually, I just thought that that particular quote, in its David Lynchian (and dare I suggest, Richard White-ian) simplicity, summed up ADOS' quite nice, though not as brief, summary of how this topic has managed to incorporate neatly just about every banal posting habit we roll out around here. Which is pretty neat-o, if you ask me.

Just pull the trigger already.

Why are you encouraging him? :P

Why shouldn't he encourage him? It's a custom title thread which descended into lasciviousness, and then descended further into Iffy bashing, and then even further into a quote pyramid.

Exactly.

The worm is the spice. The spice is the worm.

As long as it's 45 to 50 degrees at 8:00 a.m. on November 18 in Philadelphia, I couldn't care less what occurs with the seasons. Actually, I *would* be happier if there isn't too much snow this winter. I had my fill of that during undergrad in Eastern Wisconsin. :)

I can see it both ways, though counter-clockwise initially. I'm left-handed, though right eye dominant, mainly because vision in my right eye is a bit better.

If that was too disturbing for you, then you have no business surfing the internet. C'mon, people - it's merely a description of something that occurs probably a billion times every day in the world.

Sure, if you're Latinizing it. Transliterated from the Greek, though, it's Ephesos. Check it out at the Perseus Project, and don't speak to what you don't know, foo!!! Word is bond.

It's a race though against the "best if used by" date on the candy. With the exception of that - and I'll go ahead and throw the quotes around it here - "candy" that's wrapped in orange and black wax paper (I assume it's still made, or at least passed on), most candy has a limited shelf life, and as such, depreciates.

My halloween festivities occurred last Friday at a party in Georgetown with live DJs and bartenders. Would have been exceptional, had they not run out of beer by 11, but that crowd tends to run with Red Bull-and-vodkas.

Tonight, I'll be spookily studying for the MPRE this Saturday. :(

Welcome to Spiderweb! Leave your sanity at the door.

My understanding is that it would probably be difficult, given that the current portraits in Avernum are integrated with buttons within the frame. A small redesign wouldn't probably be that hard, but how much added value would you really get from it? Is the blond haired man with the mustache really so bad?

The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul is probably my favorite humorous novel ever. Chapter 3 alone, where Adams describes the process of Dirk waking up, is among the most fantastic prose I've ever read.

Hmm. Well, while they think they may have the right to myspace and facebook, the reality is that access at the school while you are there is a privilege. Furthermore, if it isn't a government institution, they technically could even regulate speech. If you object to that, then you don't have to go there. Again, attendance at a private school is a privilege, and if they don't like the conditions, they don't have to attend.

Even if it's a public school, there's still the distinction between rights and privileges. The former are worthy of protest; the latter will likely win little sympathy, and probably be reasonable grounds for disciplinary action on the part of the administration.

As for a student running away from a boarding school, when he does that, he exposes the school, which is serving as guardian, to liability. I'm guessing he was expelled, and if so, I think it's entirely reasonable that a school would not want to assume such a risk.

I just read "The Thief" by Megan Whalen Turner. It was okay - my main objection was that first person narratives in which the narrator reveals sudden plot twists that were within his knowledge all along are a bit disingenuous, however much they may enrich the story.
