Infernal, thanks for not responding to any of my posts. quote:And Israel would've been hard-pressed to win had it not been for... Portugal. Well, or Operation Nickel Grass. Another reason Wikipedia is everyone's friend... who would've guessed that Portugal saved Israel? :D -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. quote:Okay, but the government can't trust everything the press says. Otherwise, the U.S. gov't would constantly be consulting the Enquirer over possible retaliation for abductions. quote:Maybe if you're looking at the case in a political vacuum, then it could be irrelevant. But if Israel does tend to bully its neighbors (an idea which I agree with, though I acknowledge that it's mutual bullying), then the U.S. would have a reason to withold said information. Maybe, just maybe, the U.S. doesn't want anything to happen that will de-stabilize the Middle East any more than it already has been. And just in general, I believe that it's totally relevant what Israel does to its neighbors, just as much as it is relevant what Israel's neighbors do to Israel. quote:Yes, and we all know that incidences of violence around Israel are few and far between, don't we? :P I mean seriously, the country just has to wait about 24 hours before another reason for military action pops up. quote:Could you clarify what the heck that means? quote:...which would likely declare jihad on us after an act like invading Iran. And anyway, I don't think it's an argument about whether or not we could do it. I think we could do it. I just don't think we could "finish the job" in less than half a century, unless you use W's definition of "finish the job". quote:Is this part of your argument, or just part of a tangential rant? And can we leave out the cheap shots about whose country is more "civilized"? That goes for everyone here. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Bad Thuryl. :P I heartily agree with Alorael... quite often, I think that Stewart and Colbert know more about what's going on than most elected officials themselves do. And when they don't know what's going on, they admit it. Granted, that could change a bit if they were actually elected, but the promise of a change of pace would be enough to get them my vote. I mean, they'd have my vote anyway, but that would just solidify my position. Anyway, Clinton for world dictator in 2010! -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I'm leaning towards "Distinct Society"... but mostly because I don't know enough about what's going on. "Non-independent nation within a unified nation?" That confuses me... -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. Well, I think that it did clear the way for some more intelligent discussions to return... and it did actually get people to show up again and stick around for a while. And sometimes, the spam served a very direct purpose, which was very welcome. So... I think it helped a little. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. quote:Same here. Regrettably, my roommate for this year is obsessed with the game on all levels, so the TV in our suite's room is on ESPN about 80% of the time. Oh, and turkey can be very, very good... there just needs to be appropriate seasoning. Randomizer: Okay, fair enough... though it still seems a bit hazy. And I guess the punishment is a bit off-base if compared to the precedents listed, but it doesn't mean that the precedents were right. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. Hooray for binging on turkey and stuffing! Personally, I ran a 5k this morning (against my better judgement), so I can't wait for that good ol' tryptophan, whether or not it actually induces drowsiness. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. quote:Well, to be perfectly honest... it tends to come across as rather one-sided Israeli propaganda. To me, at least. For instance, from your arguments here, it sounds as if it's okay for Israeli spies to steal intelligence from the U.S., but an intelligence leak to another nation is unacceptable. The two crimes (I feel comfortable calling them both crimes) only differ in which direction the intelligence flows. Also, this... quote:Explain how U.S. intelligence belong to a foreign nation. EDIT: Meh. Typo. [ Thursday, November 23, 2006 12:43: Message edited by: Ephesos ] -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. You see, now this is truly an impressive sight. I commend you, Nioca, on your taking the time to try out an in-joke. Yeah, I'm confused. My name is off the dead list, if nothing else. But oh well... I cast a spell, so it seems I'm alive (since I'm assuming wererats can't cast spells). Meh, I've been using 'pwned' too much lately. Funny how you don't realize these things until it's too late. :P -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Hm... I had a bit more downbeat music frequenting iTunes while I worked on EoR, but for my new one, I'm listening to a lot of O.K. I believe I know what you're talking about. Does the passage have an encounter with gazers? If so, you're in the wrong place. The real fort is down to the southeast of Morog's place, and involves a bit of climbing. Once you head down there, expect to be delayed a bit. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion.
