You know, that music topic in the Avernum Trilogy forum got me thinking... I listen to music when I play... But I also listen to music when I work on design. And really thinking about it, I've realized that I've come to associate a specific song or style of music with the different projects that I've done. In fact, I've realized that I find it difficult to work on a project without having assigned some form of unofficial theme to it. This begs the question, of course... am I alone in this little habit? So do any of you assign unofficial themes to your work? (Or, as an alternate question) If you could assign an unofficial theme to any of your scenarios, what would it be, and why? -------------------- The Silent Assassin believes that potpourri has the potential for remedying any mistakes that he makes on the field. 'I Know It's Over' by The Smiths is the unofficial theme for TV. If I ever finish it. -------------------- And when you want to Live How do you start? Where do you go? Who do you need to know? Posts: 2864 | Registered: Monday, September 8 2003 07:00 |

Agadia Isle's theme would probably be "Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve. Parts of it symbolize the conflicts of interest between Agadia and the Empire, and also defines a small note of irony in the scenario. -------------------- Scenarios need reviews! I know exactly what you're talking about, Grimm. I do a lot of writing, fantasy stories mostly, and I always listen to music and associate themes with different characters. I have one dragon queen character that I imagine metal music playing whenever she enters, while the good guys get happy bagpipes. However, I find when I'm messing around with the editor, it requires more concentration than writing does, so I prefer the music off. Hopefully, when I get more comfortable with it I can play music again. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

LoD is Trenches, followed by Run For Your Life, followed by Face To The Enemy (Frank Klepacki, see the original Red Alert soundtrack). Maybe I should design something that goes well with Hell March... EDIT: Spellng. -------------------- Gah! I've got kernel code pouring from every orifice! Help! Led Zeppelin is a regular in my play list, I've been listening to it since Dilecia. For TEV I've started listening to Audioslave, and Jimi Hendrix. Also, classical music for my Music Appreciation course has reared its generally ugly head. I've actually enjoyed Chopin, and how can I talk about Blades and classic music without mentioning Rhapsody in Blue? -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Hm... I had a bit more downbeat music frequenting iTunes while I worked on EoR, but for my new one, I'm listening to a lot of O.K. Go, which should make for a much, much, much more upbeat scenario. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. I'm inclined to say there are mainly three "theme songs" to In the Shadow of Dragons (ItSoD): In the Shadow of Dragons: Mvt. 1 In the Shadow of Dragons: Mvt. 2 In the Shadow of Dragons: Mvt. 3 Well, it's what the scenario's based on so… yeah. Apart from that, probably music from Final Fantasy. :P -------------------- Do not provoke the turtles.
