Jeff is cautiously optimistic about a Mac release in time for Christmas, but he doesn't actually check these boards very often. Drakey and Stareye are the resident admins and they aren't in charge of the release schedule.

—Alorael, who feels that it would be appropriate at this time to welcome Pythras to Spiderweb. So welcome! Leave your sanity at the door and watch out for fluffy turtles.

To be fair, it's a simple case ol gender agreement. To be equally fair, it's not that hard to match A with A and O with O.

—Alorael, who can think of many languages. English is the one of choice, of course, and Spanish is a fairly common as well. Aran and spy.there have German covered, Zeviz brings some Russian, and the many Finns bring their double letter talk. There's some Hebrew, although the quality ia uncweidiws, there's Swedish, there's a great deal of semi-competent French, there was at least at one time some Brazilian Portuguese, and that is enough languages to make communication utterly baffling.

You get a special title by being a noteworthy member of the Spiderweb community. That can be in a good way, like by making scenarios, in a noteworthy way, like being a "personality," (i.e. being chummy with Drakey), or in a bad way. If it is a very specially bad way, you will be Canned or Banned.

—Alorael, who does not get a special title because his post titles are (so far) unique and Drakey likes it that way. Or so he says to console himself.

I meant to remove the harbeh along with the other plurals, but I suppose many a good year sounds fine in English. I'm less sure about the idiom in Hebrew, though...

—Alorael, who sees nothing wrong with harbeh shanot tovot except the way that getting that he believes a wish for one specific good year works better by not spreading the wish too thin. There is some evidence (still awaiting publication) that specific well-wishing has a 34% greater effect.

Your first statement is true. Your question is valid but out of the blue. Drakey implied that he would appear, not that he would be an enemy of Avernum. To illustrate the difference, I pointed out that Solberg has appeared three times without being an enemy.

—Alorael, who may have in fact demonstrated that he is as senile as Rone. Such is life.

That was hard... Most of you will probably pronounce it in the wrong way, but what the heck.

It doesn't help that that is the least logical transliteration I have ever seen except for yarmulke.

Yom huledet sameach v'harbeh shanot tovot!

Happy birthday and many happy years!

—Alorael, who is not sure that wè harbè is v'harbeh. It fits, though, although he'd say v'harbeh shanah tovah. (Have a good year.)

All good messianic figures have an encore, usually just before the curtain falls.

—Alorael, has found that many mythologies include a kind of anti-messiah around the time of the second appearance of the messiah as well. A "black" version, if you will.

Solberg is not an enemy of Avernum in A1, A2, or A3, yet he appears in all three.

[Edit: Boo! Hisss?]

—Alorael, who only hopes that a certain someone puts in an appearance.

If you have a name like LRTDeM, you have every right to flaunt it.

—Alorael, who doesn't, and therefore must flaunt every other name he can come up with. Provided that name fits within a space of limited characters, of course.

If you win, you've won. Hooray.

If you then use the editor to leave, you don't really need to return to the Keep. You've already won. Just head back to wherever you have unfinished business and enjoy.

—Alorael, who isn't sure that using the editor to leave would ruiin everything anyway. It probably means Erika won't show up to help you again, but you should still be able to win if you set up the explosion and reach the panel.

RW has caused himself to be existent only in areas where the basic axioms of mathematics are not those that we commonly assume.

If it isn't a Mac, it must be some variety of Windows. The Mac version shouldn't even execute at all.

Which means Drakey <= everybody?

—Alorael, who then finds the hypothesis that Drakey = RW dubious unless RW < everybody, and as everyone knows, RW is not an element of the set of everybody, but the intersection of RW and everybody is the set of everybody. He has also mastered blurry math, however, and has a degree in apples and another in oranges.

E1 was released in 1994, was it not?

If you can play up guanxi, you don't know everything like Seletine, and you're not a Blades wiz like Kel, your best bet is to win friends and influence people so that the sporadic elections give you a chance of winning. Note that even those rarely go to newcomers. Not without a great deal of conspiring, anyway.

Another thing to note is that Spiderweb is settling down in its old age, particularly its post-Misc. old age. The age of the megamod has ended, although there are plenty of megamod candidates now, and the fun of political maneuvering, conspiracies, and vast, multi-board flame wars have more or less ended.

—Alorael, who sounds way too much like an oldbie. Actually, he sounds remarkably like a geezer. He'll bet you didn't know that in the old days you actually had to write out posts (by hand, since typewriters hadn't been invented) and mail it to Spiderweb. You had to wait a few months before the board "updated" and Mariann or Linda collected all the posts and mailed the new forums off to all the registered members. Those were the days, by golly!

Andrea is better known as Djur and unprintable strings of characters, and Feran is also known as Feranix (or unprintable strings of characters).

—Alorael, who is also known as an enterprising individual of Asian origin with an uncommonely abundant size, a marked propensity towards perspiration, and an unnatural predilection for comestibles consisting of former bovines.

To cast Capture Soul and Simulacrum you have to help Koriba find a stolen statue. Koriba is in Ghikra, and the bandits are the band in Upper Avernum. Once you have the soul crystal, you can learn Capture Soul and Simulacrum.

You can learn Capture Soul level 3 in Hawke's Manse by reading books, but only if you already have level 1 or 2.

—Alorael, who advises paying particular attention to the Wolfrider Warrens.
