It's nice to know that some other people on here like the study of ancient civilizations like I do. -------------------- Mrs. Peacock: "Everything all right?" Colonel Mustard: "Yep. Two Corpses. OOC: I just finished reading all the posts under this topic. Even though it’s too late now, I could always enter as a mage of some sort. I wanted to be the OVERLORD, but I don't know enough about undead to be able to carry it out. IC: Perched on the poor side of town on the far end, in her well-hidden little hovel, Celisto sat in her old wooden chair staring into her crystal ball. She had been watching the battles the whole time but didn't want to risk coming out of her hermitage. If she did, she knew it would be hard for her to go back again. She recognized the OVERLORD. She had seen him before. She was the reason he was attacking this town. He had attacked countless other towns before and had destroyed them with deadly force. [FLASHBACK] She had once been part of his kingdom. She was the Evil High Priest of his Castle. Nevertheless, she defected one day without notice. She couldn't stand being the Evil High Priest any longer. She had been forced into his service when she was just child. Her parents had been powerful mages and they taught her much of their power. One day the Overlord's forces had started raiding the village she was in and eventually had made their way to her home. Her parents were slaughtered and when the raiders tried to attack her, she scorched them in the spot they were standing and watched them turn to dust. Other raiders quickly relayed this information to the Overlord and soon he himself teleported to her home, where he found the girl crying over the bodies of her parents as the townspeople were preparing them for burial. At the sight of the Overlord, the townspeople ran and she tried desperately in vein to kill him. Her magic just bounced off of him and he grabbed her arm. "You would make a nice addition to my kingdom. Your powers are great and I have much need for you." With that he teleported her to his kingdom and took her to his most powerful mages and priests. Over the years, her resistance of the evil magic lessened and she became more powerful than her teachers themselves. She was never able to pass the power of the Overlord, though. He saw to that. She was magically 3/4 as powerful as him. She did all his biddings, but she never forgot what happened to her parents and knew some day she would get revenge. She eventually learned how to teleport and do everything that the Overlord himself could do. But, she could never achieve anything more powerfully than he did. She was always cautious in her endeavors though. She made sure that she always did what the Overlord wanted, so that he eventually came to trust her completely and put her second in command. She planned out how to go about her revenge and waited for the day to come when she had the perfect opportunity to achieve it at last. The day of her revenge came when a powerful magical item was delivered to the castle and was put under her watch. It turned out to be some sort of Magical Tome and when she tried to read it, its power was so great, that it made her head hurt. But she learned much from it. It detailed all sorts of undead rituals and listed varieties of spells that made hers look like cheap tricks. She realized that if she stole this magical tome, it would strike a great blow to his empire. He came in everyday to read from it and she feared his power would become too great. She wasn't as powerful as he was, but she made a formidable foe and was the only person with the magical strength to stand up to him without automatically being crushed. She decided one day to carry out her plan of smuggling it out of the kingdom and going into hiding in one of the most unlikely of places. A simple little town. While the Overlord slept, she crept up to the Temple and cast several spells on herself. When she had finished, she was cloaked with Invisibility, Stealth, Protection, multiple amounts of Major Blessing, Martyr's Shield, Major Haste, and many other spells. She swiftly made her way to the Treasure room within the temple and stole the Magical Tome. On the way, she remembered some of his other valuable possessions and decided to relieve him of these luxuries as well. Having learned hundreds of different locations she could go to, she picked one ordinary little place and chanted the appropriate words. And....with a flash of light, she disappeared. She appeared at the town gate of this village and went inside. She went to the inn and asked about a private room in the town where she couldn't be disturbed. He told her to go talk to the mayor, and that she did. He told her of a place at the far end of town where the poor people lived. But, it was only a hovel. She said she was very much interested and he sold her the property. She properly boarded everything up and began to dig. She magically dug a deep tunnel in the ground the stretched for at least thirty feet outside the town gate on the side she was living. She magically created a home beneath the cave rock and set up her own laboratory. She put the tome and the other two possessions in a metal chest she bought in town and placed the chest at the far end of the tunnel, in the room she had created for herself. [PRESENT] She cursed herself for having never bothered to move to a new location. But, she realized that this town would not survive for much longer if she did not come out of hiding and attempt to destroy this Overlord once and for all. She knew only she could effectively stand up to him and she must do something. Celisto came out of the tunnel and set up several magical barriers behind her to keep the tunnel sealed. She then readied herself with the few weapons that she had. She looked in her crystal ball and looked at the Overlord again. She whispered to herself, "I must destroy Delgotto.” Delgotto, how she absolutely despised the Overlord's name. She spit at the thought of him, but she knew the final battle between the two of them was about to begin. She removed the magical barrier separating her from society. Then she opened the door, stepped outside, and slowly made her way to the battle front chanting, "Delgotto must die!" in her head. Her flowing Cobalt Blue robes and blond hair waving gently in the wind. They well suited her 26 year-old-body and gave her an essence and aurora of a person yielding great power. OOC: (She grew most of her own food in the Laboratory and only ever left the hovel to buy occasional supplies and other food.) Sorry if that was so long. It should give answers to many questions that have been made known. Do with the character what you want. I don't care if she lives or dies, but she would be happier to stay alive. Is there any reason to think that she might also know Arianne? She might not because Arianne never came to serve the Overlord. It still might make a nice twist to the story though if she does. quote:That's true. That's what I meant to say. I heard lately that the last age that ended was somewhere around 1912 and was called the "Age of the Wolf", which was supposed to be an age that ends with ice. How appropriate is that? When the Titanic sank, it had to do with ice. And, on top of that, it brought an end to an arrogant era of when people put all thier faith in their technology. That's why almost everyone considered the Titanic to be unsinkable. They put all their faith in the newest technologies and it ended up that they learned not to do this anymore anywhere near as much as they were. The next age, I'm not sure what it is called, is supposed to end in fire. How appreopriate when considering the wars of today and the nuclear potential of many nations. -------------------- Mrs. Peacock: "Everything all right?" Colonel Mustard: "Yep. Two Corpses. I am on this website constantly. Everytime I go to my computer, this is one of the first places I go to. I don't talk much over the internet, but, this site is the exception. I visit this site the most now. The Classic Nick Homepage message board has basicly gone dead, so I visit here now. I log on to this site maybe 15 or more times a day. This is now the only site I post on much anymore and I post "whenever the spirit moves me". And it moves me a lot. I have the feeling we will hear that phrase, 'when my spirit moves me" more often now. -------------------- Mrs. Peacock: "Everything all right?" Colonel Mustard: "Yep. Two Corpses. OOC: Here is the rest of the story as I have written it. Sorry, I just had to bring Moriarty into this. He is a cunning and excellent foe. It should be an honor to have him in this story. IC: Holmes you should have seen the advances of technology of that civilization and of Earth. They allowed me to watch a screen that showed what was happening on Earth. However, they wiped my memory out one day. Nevertheless, some of it was held in reserve in the cybernetic structure storage until I boarded this ship. It just flashed back on and I remembered you and everything else that had happened, including how some of my memory had been wiped out. I didn't know why until I walked in here and saw you resting in that chair. Alas, my hatred does know no bounds, but they seemed to have removed it somehow, making me into almost a pacifist. I heard them once say that they implanted you with a computer in your head, to try to tap your knowledge. They said it worked, but when they studied your knowledge about me, they understood exactly how evil I was and so they tapped into my brain and attempted to remove my evil knowledge. They wanted to use it for their own technologies and much, much more. However, Holmes, they didn't get all of it. I put some of it into storage on my own and they never found that hidden knowledge. But when I entered this ship, I sensed it was time to bring it out of storage. And now I know why. How fortunate for you that I am unable to attack you. I have been reprogrammed several times and was implanted with a device that is supposed to keep me from killing anything, except in the case of a virus. I am still fighting against that software. But until I defeat it, you are free to roam this ship and, I, am at your service." He practically spit out the word in pure hatred and disgust. Meanwhile... The crew and Logalot were trying to raise Lt. Sullust over the intercom. They were getting no answer. They decided to send another shuttle out to intercept Lt. Sullust and see what the problem was. OOC: Phew!! Now you know why I used several posts to relay my story here. Enjoy. I want to sit back and listen to how everyone continues the plot. This should have got it going. Damn!! I'm good. I never knew I could write a story like this. Writing a book is now, seriously, a consideration in my mind. :D [ Thursday, September 11, 2003 13:44: Message edited by: Murder, She Wrote ] -------------------- Mrs. Peacock: "Everything all right?" That question was solved for me a few seconds later. A wall swung back and a strange creature entered the room. It was tall, extremely thin, and had gray skin. I didn't know what to do next. It then spoke to me. "Greetings, we have never seen creatures of your, uh, distinction here before. The creature in the glass tube has deciphered our writings and we want to take him back to our planet for study to see what makes him exceptional among humans. And you, what brought you here?" I was still in shock, but I managed to tell it the truth. "Him and I are mortal enemies. He is good and I am bad. He is my equal in brain and cunning. I tracked him here to kill him once and for all. However, it seems I don't have to now. What are you planning to do to me?" "Well, it seems that if you are both equal in brain power and cunning and he represents good, and you represent evil, we might desire to take you back to our planet for study. If you think that is wise. We can make it so that you can live almost indefinitely, though you will be paired with a mechanical body, but I guarantee, you will not be hurt." "To live for ever, in my youth, that might be nice, but what about Sherlock Holmes? What will happen to him?" "He is being held in suspended animation, he will not age, but will get slightly younger. You might never see him again, but one never knows. A century from now or longer and you might meet again, if not by accident, than by purpose. Please step this way." The creature took me through the opening it had emerged from and took me to another glass tube against a wall. It pressed a section of wall, and the glass tubing slid into the ceiling. "Please step inside. Your transformation will be made back on our planet.” Well, Holmes, I stepped into the case and I saw a blinding white light and the tubing closed around me. I felt the sensation of moving, even while I was standing in one spot, and then I blacked out. Strangely enough, I don't remember ever waking up until I was placed on this spaceship. OOC: To be continued in the next post. By the way, I was wrong in my other post when I said that Professor Moriarty appeared as the main enemy in, "The Empty House.” Both him and Colonel Moran were in that story. OOC: Here is a continued part of the story I have written. IC: I fell off the edge, and you climbed up the rock face to hide from Watson. You knew he would be back to find us after I sent him to the lodge on false pretenses. He would find that short letter I allowed you to write to him before we fought. Very cunning of you, I must say. What a perfect idea. Hide from doctor Watson and make him think we both went over the cliff. Moran told me that you climbed up the rock face next to the cliff. He was perched on a rock cliff nearly a hundred feet up from where you had climbed to. He tried to kill you by hurling rocks down at you. Nevertheless, you avoided them and managed to escape. You would then be free to roam the world without anyone knowing your true identity. Watson thought we were both dead and so did the world. Three years after the incident, I was in hiding, and Moran was imprisoned, and you came back to Baker Street to finally let Watson and the world know you were alive. You had trapped Moran once in the tale Watson wrote about called the "The Empty House,” which happened just after you returned to Baker Street, but he managed to escape. I was in hiding because you, Sherlock Holmes, were responsible for bringing my network of criminals and the such to justice like you said you had when you finished gathering all the evidence and turned it in to the police. That, you already know, is why I traced you to the Richenbach Falls and fought with you. I figured that if I couldn't get rid of you alone, then we would both go over the cliff together. Moran found out that I was alive from prison, where YOU were instrumental in putting him for the second time in the adventure your friend Watson published in "The Strand Magazine,” called "Terror By Night.” However, when I found out that you had retired, a while after that incident, I had to laugh. Still, I continued to track you down until I found your Sussex bee farm. Such a relaxing piece of property. I came to your door many times." "Yes, Moriarty, I knew that already. You came to the door as many different people, but, the human ear, as I have noted, is as significant as fingerprints, when identifying a person. I observed the same ear in various people who had visited me that is why I decided to leave for a holiday in Egypt, before you had the chance to act against me. Nevertheless, you followed me, didn't you? Otherwise how could you have ended up here?" "Very observant Mr. Holmes, but, you are probably wondering how I ended up like this. Well, I did follow you to that tomb in Egypt, but when I entered it, you were nowhere to be found. I noticed the passage through the wall and entered it. Just as I entered the passage, the doorway swung shut. I had no choice but to continue further. I ended up in a room with a glass case in it, and you were in the glass case. You weren't moving, but appeared to be sleeping standing up. You were frozen in one spot and I was as puzzled as to what to do next. OOC: Continued in the next post. OOC: Originally, Lt. Sullust, I had written my last post differently. Originally, it was written that as soon as you had left Sherlock, he was injected with a sleeping drug and was snuck on board your shuttle just as you were leaving. So did a few of the people Sherlock had met. They planted listening devices and hidden video cameras in the control room of the shuttle and were monitoring your every movement. They were supposed to be curious about your top-secret mission, but the storyline died in front of my eyes. I got writer's block. I decided to change the story and ended up with what we have now. IC: Sherlock's head continued to throb while he was resting in that chair. Suddenly, the throbbing stopped and was replaced with a voice in his head. "Hello. We meet again Sherlock Holmes!!" Sherlock got up with a start and look at the doorway. He saw a half man half machine creature at the doorway. Strange, it looked familiar to him, but, no, it couldn't be. Not after all this time. "Professor Moriarty? It can't be! How could you possibly be alive yet?! NO!" "Yes, Mr. Holmes, it is I. Your mortal enemy. [FLASHBACK] I survived the Richenbach falls when I caught a hold of a branch on the way down the cliff face. I managed to get a footing on the almost sheer cliff in front of me and with much difficulty, managed to climb out. My second-hand man, Colonel Moran, had followed us up to the cliff, and watched us scuffle from a cliff higher up than we were. -------------------------------------------------- OOC: To be continued in the next post. My posts are getting to long. This, by the way, should get the plot rolling. This should give hundreds of ideas. Zephyr Tempest, the Wielder of Ice, I have decided to give your character an extraordinary honor. Your character can be the cyborg character of Professor Moriarty. I have written the story in such a way to allow it to be possible. Enjoy. IC: When Lt. Sullust left the room, Logalot and the doctors in the sick bay started their examinations. After a few basic tests, all was deemed normal. "Lt. Sullust wants him to have ALL the tests." The doctors looked at each other and then nodded to Logalot. They took Holmes to the MRI machine and scanned his skull. Then they put him through a cat scan. Finally, they x-rayed his head and then let Holmes go smoke in the hall. As they examined the results, they were completely astonished at what they were seeing. It appeared that an electronic device was implanted into Holmes's brain and sending out pulses every few minutes. That would explain the pain he was having. They also noticed some writing on the electronic. It was made up of strange symbols and totally baffled them. They called Sherlock into the room and showed him the x-rays. "Oh, my god!!!!" When he saw the strange symbols, he instantly recognized them as being the same as the ones from the tomb. "I've had something implanted into my skull? But, what is it?" Logalot answered solemnly, "I have a gut feeling that the one person who could tell us that, has just left the spaceship in a shuttle for the planet he was to carry out his mission on. Moreover, if he didn't know about it, it must have something to do with that planet. As soon as we came with 10,000 miles of it, you woke up suddenly. I think the answer lies with whatever is on that planet." Overwhelmed with confusion, Holmes replied, "But, what about the wave blade? What does that have to do with the so-called device or me? Why do I get the feeling that I should have been with him and the wave blade on that shuttle? I examined that blade closely in the light and determined that it was not any sort of device. It could have been a basic weapon left in the containment cell I was in. It could only be used for two separate purposes: 1. It was left there as a means of opening the door from the inside. Which is outside the realm of possibility. It seemed to require that the torch be activated first in order to unlock the Crystal box of which it was in. The door had no latch on the inside and there was no crack to pry at. 2. The other possibility was that it was placed there for the sole purpose of protection. Not to protect me, but for me to keep it safe and protected. It must have required the right kind of logic to open the box. I recall that it appeared, at the time, that my lighter activated the torch, which unlocked the box. Apparently, I had misinterpreted the connection between the torch and the box. When I tried to light the torch, pushed down on it slightly and it seemed to be giving way as I was trying to light it. It must have been a lever-reaction of some sort that activated the unlock mechanism on the box. When I first touched the wave blade, it glowed slightly and felt warm to the touch. Those observations soon ceased after picking it up. When I examined it the light outside the container, it strangely looked and felt like it was made especially for me. I have a terrible feeling that something bad is going to happen to Lt. Sullust if he doesn't bring that blade back or take me with. From what I have witnessed with it so far, it seems that I, and only I, am supposed to deliver that wave blade to the planet. That, if I understand correctly, was supposed to be the original mission. Deliver the whole container and its contents to the planet. I need to get in contact with him before it is too late!!!!!" Logalot: "I'll get some of the others and try to get in contact with Lt. Sullust before it is too late. You better rest mean while." Holmes found a comfortable chair in the lounge, like the one he had back in Baker Street and sat down in it. He soon fell asleep. At the same time, Logalot gathered up some engineers and radio people and they all rushed towards the bridge to contact Lt. Sullust while they still could. He was almost out of range. OOC: Ok, I set the scene surrounding my character well enough. I'll join in when I can. Alorael you are quite right about Sherlock Holmes's drug choice. He actually preferred to inject himself with cocaine diluted in a water solution. I should have put that in the story. Not to mention I should have given him a pipe. Maybe I will write that in the story now. IC: As Sherlock Holmes was waiting to be spoken to in the interrogation room, he realized that his head was beginning to throb again. Not having his syringe of cocaine solution with him, he decided to have another smoke. It was then that he realized that he was out of cigarettes. He forgot his pipe back in Baker Street in 1909, and wasn't likely to find it again. "Pardon me, Lt. Sullust, would you happen have to have a pipe onboard, to smoke I mean?" "Why yes, as a matter of fact, I do have one in my desk here." He opened the drawer and pulled out a decent sized pipe, worthy of Sherlock Holmes, and handed it to him. "There is some tobacco in that Ming vase over there. Now what is this I hear about you stealing an object from the cargo hold? And what exactly lead up to your trip to that Egyptian tomb?" "I didn't steal anything. I woke up in a small red granite crate-like container and managed to find my way out. Then I read the side of the container, and it said "Exile Device.” How is it that I am a device? I am a human being. I demand to know why I am here and why I was locked up in a stone cell? How is it that I can be alive, in perfect condition, more than a century after I was trapped in that glass tube in that Egyptian tomb? Egypt has always intrigued me, that's why I took a much-needed vacation there. I was tired of my Sussex bee farm, and Dr. Watson was busy living with his wife. We were both retired. Moriarty was supposed to have died at the Richenbach Falls, but I heard rumors that he was still alive and was tracking me down to my home on the downs. That was another reason for my sudden vacation to Egypt. Moreover, I had heard rumors of a new tomb that was opened and it was very mysterious to the people who found it. It didn't have all of the usual Egyptian hieroglyphics like it should have. No, it had strange symbols that no one knew how to interpret. I thought with Moriarty after me, and being bored at the Sussex downs, a trip to Egypt would be good for my health. When I got to Egypt, I packed up some supplies and made the journey to the tomb. When I got inside, I noticed at once the strange symbols. Something automatically caught my eye about the hieroglyphics, they weren't normal Egyptian hieroglyphics, but instead seemed to be the writing of a lost culture of some sort. I sat studying them for a few hours; I realized that I was staring at a primitive form of the alphabet substitution code. In a matter of hours, I was able to translate an entire wall of the texts. In addition, I made notes in my journal on all of it including the bit of text that acted as a button. Unfortunately, I don't think I brought my journal of notes with me, because they weren't with me in the.... wait a minute.... back in the lab, I saw a journal lying next to some sort of alien creature. I couldn't read the writing because it was in a strange text I didn't recognize at first. However, just now, I realized that it was very similar to the writing in the tomb. If my journal managed to have survived with me, which I can't remember if I had it when I was trapped in the glass tube or not, then Lt. Sullust, someone here is not who they appear to be. They purposely trapped me in that glass case and brought me to this time somehow. They might have found my journal and tried to hide it or something. It would have given proof of who wrote the texts and why. The one in the lab was not mine, but it was in the same language as that of the tomb. Someone around can read and write that language and is doing so behind your back. OW!!!! Why does my head keep hurting!?? Excuse me for a few minutes. I need to smoke this pipe to clear my head up. I have never experienced pain like this before in my head. Excuse me gentlemen." Lt. Sullust: "So we have a traitor in our midst. This presents a peculiar problem for us. We need to sort this mystery out. I am afraid that whatever is hurting Sherlock Holmes's head, might keep him from successfully helping us to find the culprit. Perhaps, Logalot, you would be so good as to take Mr. Holmes down to sickbay and have him thoroughly examined. I mean, blood pressure, x-rays, cat-scans, etc. Give him the works. We need to determine why he is in so much pain." Logalot: "Yes, sir. I'm on it now." Logalot then goes out into the corridor to get Holmes to take him to the sick bay, and, waits patiently for him to finish his pipe. IC: As Sherlock continued through the corridor, a man with a rather twitchy manner stopped him. He was holding a bottle with an awkward smelling orange liquid in it. "I am Alorael. Who might you be?" "My name is Sherlock and I am on my way to see the captain. I was locked in a granite crate in the cargo hold and I would like to know why? The crate had a sign on it that said, "Exile Device" or something of that sort. Isn't that absurd? Someone thinks that I am some sort of device. However, I am just as normal as you. At least I think I am. I can't be sure. OW!!!! My head is hurting again." "Why don't you try some of this Skribbane, it's wonderful. It will relieve any ailment that you have. Mind you, it is very powerful stuff." Sherlock replied, "Thanks, but I don't take any sort of drug other than aspirins, but thanks anyway for your offer. Is the bridge up that way?" "Yes, just keep going straight, you'll get there eventually. This is a long corridor of cabins. Careful, don't run into the wrong people. I don't think you classify as a stowaway, but you still might not be safe. You were meant to stay in that holding cell crate. How ever did you manage to get out?" "I discovered that there was a mechanism inside that opened a crystal box on the floor. Inside the box were this wave blade and a button. The button unlocked and opened a door setting me free. If you ask me, there must have been a reason for why I was allowed to escape. Any suggestions you can think of?" "If you ask me, you must be carrying some sort of knowledge or power with you that you are currently not aware of. You told me your first name was Sherlock, what, may I ask, is your last name?" "Holmes, why?" "YOU'RE SHERLOCK HOLMES??!!!!! Are you THE Sherlock Holmes, the great detective?!!" Sherlock answered, confused once again, "Yes, why? How do you know of me?" Alorael thought about his next question carefully and when he decided on it, asked him, "What year is it right now?" Sherlock looked puzzled and agitated at the same time, "Why would you ask a stupid question like that. Don't you know that it is 1909? Are you on drugs or something?" "Well, I don't know how to break this to you, but, the year is currently 2023 right now and you are on a space ship headed for another planet. I think whatever happened in Egypt was the cause for you being here now. You must have stepped in a time portal or, if not that, a life suspending device. If that is the case, then you were held in suspended animation for more than a century. But as to who found you and how you ended up here, I can't help you." With his head hurting again and the dumbfounding news he just learned, Sherlock was headed for a major breakdown. "I need to smoke a few cigarettes over this." With that, he lit up a cigarette and once again headed for the Bridge. Ooooooooooh!!! Cheeseburgers!!!! Sherlock grabbed all the Cheeseburgers he could and gulped them all down. "Dang!!! How long has it been since I ate?!! Oh, well. I've had enough for now. If you two aren't going to tell me anything, then I think I will leave and go to the bridge. I'm sure they will have some answers for me there. Bye." He left the cafeteria and headed towards the sign marked, "Crew Quarters and Bridge.” Along the way, he began passing the crew quarters and noticed an increasing amount of torn apart tacos. Then he stopped abruptly when it seemed that some large bulky green object blocked the corridor. He pushed on it and he was stunned to see it turn around and look at him. "Goodness gracious!! Y-y-y-y-you're a-a-a dr-dragon!!!!" Motrax looked at him and said, "Gee, what gave it away? Who are you? I haven't seen you before on this vessel." Sherlock replied confused, "Vessel? What sort of a vessel? Are we on a cargo ship on the ocean or something?" Motrax looked at him in a puzzled manner. "Don't you realize that you are on a space ship? We are thousands of miles from Earth." Startled Sherlock replied, "Space?!!!! How did I get up here? How is that possible?!! All I know is I was locked in a stone crate in the cargo hold and before that, I was in Egypt. Do you have any idea why I am here?" "No, quite frankly I don't. Maybe you should go see the captain, I'm sure he can help you. I better get out of your way." With that, Motrax moved back to his cabin and shut the door. Sherlock continued on. IC: Sherlock continued down the corridor and came across a room with a sign above it. It said, "Cafeteria.” "Finally!! FOOOOOOOD!!!!!" He dashed into the room and met a woman and a little girl. "Oh!! Sorry for the intrusion. I'm just hungry. I'm Sherlock. I just came from the cargo hold where I was imprisoned in some sort of crate. Who are you and where am I?" OOC: Can someone pick up my storyline, pleeeeeeeease????? I wish someone would define what race my character is. I can't decide. I might as well be human. Who am I anyway? Sherlock Holmes suspended in time and brought to the 21st century or something? Is my character the secret device? Sherlock Holmes was often considered to be a machine. A thinking machine. All of his normal human characteristics were put on hold in the name of the law. He never married, never dated, never did anything that a normal man might do. He just concentrated all his time and energy in putting away criminals and solving crimes. It is for this reason that he was considered to be a human thinking machine. OOC: I suppose we could always call him Sherlock Holmes instead. Murder, She Wrote doesn't work well for a character name. You can abbreviate him as S.H. I hope no one else has THAT abbreviation. IC: As he walked down the corridor he continued to see an increasing number of taco aliens and started getting hungrier and hungrier by the minute. Just then, he found another corridor with a sign on the wall that said, "To the Lab.” "Well, it's just as logical to go this way looking for a lighter. Maybe I can find one in there.” He went down the corridor and opened the heavy metal door. He was utterly confused by the scene that met his eyes. In the room were all sorts of laboratory equipment variously placed on several dozen lab tables. However, it wasn't the equipment that caught his attention, but rather the unusual items laid out on one of them. On one of the tables, laid out across the entire surface, he could see many tubes of toothpaste. In front of each tube was a vial sample of its contents. It appeared they were all being tested for some reason. On another one of the tables, he found one of the taco creatures being dissected and next to it was a journal of notes. When he looked at the journal, he found he couldn't read it because it was in some sort of inhuman language. One he had never seen before, but yet, it was familiar. How could that be? "Well this is getting weirder by the minute.” Then he noticed a desk in the opposite corner of the room. It was completely devoid of all equipment and seemed to be just an extra piece of furniture. He noticed two drawers in the desk and decided to take a look at them. In one, he found a paper in English, describing some sort of delivery that was to be made to a drop point in space. The object being delivered was some sort of device from a place called Exile. "Strange...Am "I" that device?!?! However, he didn't feel special in any sort of way. He thought he appeared to be normal. [FLASHBACK] The last thing he could remember is walking through that Egyptian tomb and finding that hieroglyphic which seemed to be out of place. He touched it and noticed that it seemed that it was moveable. He pressed it and heard a loud grinding noise. Then, a large section of the hieroglyphic writing swung inward away from the rest. The tunnel was dark and he thought he could hear electrical humming inside. He grabbed his lighter and stuck his pack of cigarettes in his pocket. He lit up a torch and walked inside. The humming began to get louder and louder. The next thing he knew, he was facing some sort of glass case. Taller than he was and cylindrical in shape, he walked towards it. He could see some sort of lever next to the glass tube. With his heart pounding and sweat pouring from his skin, deciding that discovery was more important than safety at that moment, he pulled the lever and at first nothing happened. Then with a loud groaning noise, another section of the wall slid away just behind the glass tube. Then, just as suddenly, the glass tubing moved into the ceiling. He was both frightened and curious at the same time. He tried to go through the new opening, but when he stepped onto the space where the glass tube was, a blinding white light came from the opening in the wall and the glass tubing came down around him. Then next thing he knew was his head started hurting and he felt the sensation that he was moving, though he was standing still. Then he blacked out. He eventually woke up in that container. [PRESENT] "Dang!!! Did that glass tube have something to do with this?!” He closed that drawer and opened the one underneath it. In that drawer he found a red orb of some sort and, strangely enough, a lighter. "Good. I found one. But here.... in this strange place...oh, well.” He took a cigarette from his pack and lit it up. "This is definitely a curious situation. I need to gather more facts and see if I can find someone to speak to in this peculiar place.” He continued puffing on the cigarette as he left the room. He went down the corridor and once again began heading for the Crew Quarters, Cafeteria, and the Bridge. OOC: God, I should become a writer. At first I had no idea what this post was about. But then, I decided to read it thoroughly and began to understand it. I feel I have to join in somewhere... And there is only one way to do it... IC: His head hurt immensely and he felt very groggy. When he opened his eyes, all he saw was darkness. He rubbed his eyes and looked around again. Still he could see nothing. "Why do I feel as if I have been drugged? Ow!!! My head hurts! Jesse Fletcher, where are you this time?" He suddenly got the feeling he was in an enclosed space. "My god!! Where am I?" He extended his arms outwards and felt what seemed to be walls on either side of him. But, they felt strange, rather waxy to the touch. He reached in his pocket and was amazed to find his lighter and pack of Monarch cigarettes still intact. He tried to sit up and realized he could stand up. "Oh, this calls for some thinking." He took out a cigarette and realized he couldn't see it to light it. He flicked on the lighter and surveyed his surroundings. Strange, the space he was in was only 4 feet wide (sorry, I'm from America), but seemed to be 6 feet high (I'm 5'10'') and at least 10 feet long. The walls were made of a green tile that he had never seen before in his life. He pounded on the wall only to find that it made no sound when he did. "Well...that's certainly peculiar. Oh...what have we here?" He closely surveyed the floor of the room and noticed what looked like a blue crystal box on the floor. He tried to open it to no avail. He looked around the room for something to break it open with. "Oh, that's rather odd." He looked up and saw what looked like a torch at the other end of the room. He moved slowly over to it and realized that his lighter was beginning to run low. He attempted to light the torch only to find that when he applied the flame to it, it didn't light up or catch on fire. (CLICK!) He heard, instead, a noise from behind him that seemed to be coming from the crystal box. It seemed to be some sort of mechanism. Using the remainder of light from the lighter, he bent down and examined the box. He touched the box again looking for any sort of difference in its structure and found that it creaked open with an inhuman sort of easiness. He could faintly see the outline of an odd red inviting button, and, oddly enough, what looked like a curved blade of some sort. He picked up the blade and examined it for a few seconds before the lighter finally ceased burning. He was plunged into darkness once more. Using his Sherlock Holmes logic, he decided that the button must have something to do with the room. He felt around inside the box for the button and when his hand touched it, he firmly pressed down on it. CLICK!!! RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNNK!!! One end of the room started to swing open like a door, but, once again with an inhuman sort of easiness. He cautiously made his way to the opening and stepped out into a room filled with the smell of tacos. "BY GOD!!! That smells good!" As soon as he stepped away from the doorway, he heard a hum of machinery and then turned around to see the doorway closing. He could see spider webs attached to everything and carefully made his way around them. As he looked around, everything appeared to be in a smoky haze. "Damn!!" What's with this fog? I can't see anything! I don't underst...oh. DUH!!!" It occurred to him that it must be his glasses. He took them off and cleaned them with his ABBA shirt. When he put them back on, the things he saw stunned him. There were alien-like creatures lying all over the place in pieces and they looked and smelled like tacos. Then he was shaken to see a giant spider walking around aimlessly and running into things. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! A GIANT SPIDER!!!!!!" He attempted to run, but got caught in some webbing. "Oh, crap!!!! I'm stuck!!!" Just then he remembered the wave blade he had with him. He managed to wriggle it free from his belt and sliced himself loose. "Boy! That this blade works well" Then it occurred to him that maybe the spider was friendly. It staggered around mumbling in a high-pitched voice, "Oooooooh, I won't try that stuff again, I'm feeling woooooooozy." Seeing he wasn't in danger, he turned around to look at the room he was in. He was dumbfounded to find that it was a very large red granite crate-like container made of stone. On the side of it, he saw on a plague in glowing green letters, "Exile Device: Very Fragile!!! Handle with Care. DO NOT OPEN UNDER ANY CONDITIONS!!!!" He just had to give a little laugh at this. He then continued to look around the room and saw dozens of wooden crates and barrels. Then he noticed a sign above a doorway marked, "Exit,” and on a wall below that, he saw another that said, "To Crew Quarters, Cafeteria, and Bridge.” "Well.... I need to smoke a cigarette over this problem, but my lighter is out. Maybe I can find someone with one who can tell me what I am doing here and where I am." He cautiously made his way through the doorway and down the corridor. OOC: Sorry if that was rather long. I had to create an atmosphere for my character. Nevertheless, it allows me enter the story without having to teleport or fly up to the ship. Let's just say that this character is a Nephil. On the other hand, you may want it to be a Vahnatai. Makes no difference to me. Could be human too. However, remember, the character’s name is Jesse Fletcher. Like Jessica Fletcher from Murder, She Wrote, but as a man instead. You can call him J.F., for short if you like. :D [ Thursday, September 11, 2003 13:00: Message edited by: Murder, She Wrote ] -------------------- Mrs. Peacock: "Everything all right?" Sorry. It's not normal for me to botch up a preview like that. According to my Video Movie Guide 2001 by Mick Martin and Marsha Porter, the movie I am referring to was made in 1974 and was called, "Murder On the Orient Express". It is an adaptation of an Agatha Christie book. As for who played Hercule Poirot, many many people have played this character. In this movie, he was played by Albert Finney. If there was another Murder On the Orient Express movie that was made recently, then I don't know anything about it. My movie guide shows only one movie with that title. Though, a movie with the same title good have been made after my movie guide was published. I haven't watched very many movies made after the year 2000. Most of the ones made these days are rather dull to me. Very few of them interest me anymore. Well, excuse me. Sorry if I spelled that word incorrectly. You are the first person to ever point that out to me. I have always spelled it that way, and no one has ever said anything about it before. So I changed the sentence. Bye. I have been able to take walks through the countryside without ever having to look up from my book. And on a winding road as well. I think I will go and borrow some more Sherlock Holmes books from the Library. You people have me wanting to read more again. I miss being reading. But I have been too busy to read lately. Maybe I will take some time to do it again. Bye. -------------------- Mrs. Peacock: "Everything all right?" Colonel Mustard: "Yep. Two Corpses. Everything's fine." Yes, I can agree with you that reading books instead does open up a world of imagination for the reader. Still, I recommend finding a good radio show on cassette tape and listening to it. Books on audio tape and stories on audio are a lot like reading a book. The story is usually laid out exactly as it is in the book and everything is still left to your imagination. Really the only difference is that someone else is doing the reading for you. It can relieve the strain of constatly looking at pages, turning them, and you can get through a book a lot faster. There really aren't any downsides to listening to an audio tape, you really only have to have a cassette player and a good imagination. Try borrowing any Audio book out of the library and trying it. I guarantee that it will make you want to look for more of them in the library. -------------------- Mrs. Peacock: "Everything all right?" Colonel Mustard: "Yep. Two Corpses. Everything's fine." I mentioned something of the sort under the topic: Here's a stupid question on the mixture of species in these games. It can be found on page two under the Exile forum. I didn't comment much though, quite frankly. The thought of it had occurred to me, while thinking of the Nephilim way of life. My perspective of it is different though. I will only reveal that through private messaging though. It's nice to know that the subject of mixed-breeding doesn't scare people too much. Though it is apparently against the law in the United States. Which sucks. I think. Not sure. No comment. Hey!!!!! Neat. My number of posts matches the Route Number that passes my house. Route 209. I don't know who to say will win. I'd have to say it would be a stalemate because the magic of Humans and Vahnatai are almost equal. And so are their forces. The Nephils and Sliths would have no chance against them, though the Nephils might be very cute. I hate to say it, but, can you imagine how the sex might be? Wild, for sure. I commented on this in another thread. You can say it almost fascinates me. Nephilim have the ability to spread like wildfire though. Cats sure can. Though I can't ever remember encountering a Nephil child in any of the Exile games. I don't want to even picture how sex it might be among the Sliths. They happen to lay eggs and can multiply quickly as well. But neither of their magical powers is greater than that of the Vahnatai. And the Vahnatai, who could ever guess. They are so mysterious. Who knows how quickly they can multiply. But, if they need reinforcements, they can go and wake up crystal souls if need be. Crystal Souls are, by the way, very powerful. They can be taken into battle and used to wipe out their enemies in a very short matter of time. Humans and Vahnatai, despite how they look, have several simularities. Vahnatai, just like humans, can be evil or good. They have simular cultures, though much different lifespans. Their magic is matched only by humans. Another simularity is their diverseness. Vahnatai, like humans, also have different classes and a social structure. They also have different types of people, one example being that they, like humans, have straight couples and gay couples. I commented on that in another thread as well. But, the Vahnatai have been around longer than humans. They have had centuries to learn about magic and how to use it with a deadly force. They can use teleportation like the Empire, their blades are wickedly deadly, and they can go into hibernation, which humans normally can't do. Even their spirits can be deadly. A lich and a vahnatovi are just as powerful as any human spirit or vampire. They use different weapons, but, their use of magic makes up for that. They also have simular bad traits like humans. Vahnatai can have greed, they have their obsessions, such as protecting their crystal souls, and they possess a very distinct trait of wanting revenge. Their pursuit of revenge led them to attack the Empire on the surface, because they wanted to kill them all for taking their crystal souls. Just like the Empire attacked the Exiles and wanted them all dead as well. If all the groups fought each other at once, the sliths and nephils would be defeated quickly and they would retreat to watch the action. The humans might eventually defeat the Vahnatai, but, it might take them some time to weaken them significantly. The Vahnatai would likely teleport to safety and rebuild their numbers and come back and attack again and again. The humans could teleport more people in, but, they would never be able to go into hibernation like the Vahnatai. To me, humans could win, but it will definitely take time. They could also win by attacking the Vahnatai crystal soul factories and destroying them. The Vahnatai could, in turn, do the same thing with Human cities. They could cast quickfire in the towns and create plague after plague. I don't know if humans can do the same thing. Humans could increase their numbers to plague proportions, and thus, attack that way. My brain is wracked once again. Sorry. Bye. -------------------- Mrs. Peacock: "Everything all right?"
