"The burning wings are inefficient and gruesome. For style, the Corps goes with the thousand cuts, and for stealth, a brain hit from behind. Not my work or that of the man in the woods. Whoever did it is probably among us, and they'll probably get away with it. And if he didn't see what he got coming, he deserved it." -------------------- They want to have a war to keep their factories They want to have a war to keep us on our knees They want to have a war to stop us buying Japanese They want to have a war to stop industrial disease They're pointing out the enemy to keep you deaf and blind They want to suck your energy, incarcerate your mind Give you Rule Brittania, gassy beer, page three Two weeks in Hispania and sunday striptease Meanwhile, the first Jesus says, "I'll cure it soon Abolish Monday mornings and Friday afternoons" The other one's out on hunger strike, he's dying by degrees How come Jesus gets industrial disease? EDIT: I'm really more or less like you, Aran: I don't read or much care about any boards besides my own. The difference is that I'm not going to make puerile comparisons or try to start a juvenile pissing match with some of the community's more respected members for no sound reason. The beautiful thing about Desperance is probably that it has moderators, but they're mostly moderators because they're trustworthy, not because of any misbehaved types floating around. The repuatation for being profane is deserved, I'll admit, but I'd say it's probably the best place to go for moderately civilized discourse on non-BoE topics. You might think that we're devoted to being vicious and untowardly mean to newbies. We really aren't; we're just as mean to oldbies, although they're more likely to take the joke instead of complaining incessantly. That's all I have to say about that. -------------------- AnamaFreak (3:59:56 AM): Shounen-ai to the MAX ...there really is nothing that can compare to hot gay sex with a mythological icon. --665 Posts: 2367 | Registered: Friday, June 27 2003 07:00 |

What's that, Slith? Whining about the lack of good RPs on a board where they account for most of the post depth, or using any topic devoted even tangentially to external links to plug your own website? -------------------- AnamaFreak (3:59:56 AM): Shounen-ai to the MAX ...there really is nothing that can compare to hot gay sex with a mythological icon. --665 Posts: 2367 | Registered: Friday, June 27 2003 07:00 |

I'll admit it has its moments, but given the hype surrounding it continually, it should be the best thing since Jesus. It's consistently fair to mediocre, and it strikes me as ass-backwards that something like it gets featured in Time magazine and the webcomic community gets all excited about an interview with some indie journal. Hell, to extend the analogy, it is to Internet humor in general what Squidi's 'work' is to webcomics. There's much better, but they tend to languish unfairly. (We're still some distance from the village, unless I've misread something somewhere.) "Who died and made me leader? Hmm, I have no idea. Maybe I'm effectively in charge here because I'm the only person who knows how to deal with the madman in the woods on a professional basis. I'm sure you or the other magi could probably get lucky a few times, but I frankly don't trust you as far as I can throw you dealing with traps set by a well-trained officer of the Corps. We can go ahead and *vote* on a leader if you like, and whoever the hell it is will feel free to sit back, shut up, and allow me to keep as many of us alive as possible. I am not going to put our lives and this entire expedition in danger because you feel like throwing a popularity contest." Among the mutterings of dissent, he turned to Kenthred and said, quietly, "If he does decide to throw a popularity contest, and someone else wins it, I want you behind me when I rectify it. The man in the woods is, I fear, among my seniors -- the caltrops I wouldn't have located unless I had quite nearly stepped on one, and I haven't caught more than a general direction from him thus far, and even that changes. It will be cussed difficult to come out of this thing alive, and I'm not about to allow sentimental weakness make it any harder." -------------------- They want to have a war to keep their factories They want to have a war to keep us on our knees They want to have a war to stop us buying Japanese They want to have a war to stop industrial disease They're pointing out the enemy to keep you deaf and blind They want to suck your energy, incarcerate your mind Give you Rule Brittania, gassy beer, page three Two weeks in Hispania and sunday striptease Meanwhile, the first Jesus says, "I'll cure it soon Abolish Monday mornings and Friday afternoons" The other one's out on hunger strike, he's dying by degrees How come Jesus gets industrial disease? Chadussid watched the woods intently. Something cracked behind him. He spun around in time to see a bolt soar out of the woods and hit one of the dogs in the head, felling it instantly. People were about to shoot into the woods. Various people at the same time commanded them not to bother -- energy was scarce and he had already moved. "Thank you for eliminating the possibility that he is mute or does not speak Cartouchian. Any other bright ideas?" -------------------- They want to have a war to keep their factories They want to have a war to keep us on our knees They want to have a war to stop us buying Japanese They want to have a war to stop industrial disease They're pointing out the enemy to keep you deaf and blind They want to suck your energy, incarcerate your mind Give you Rule Brittania, gassy beer, page three Two weeks in Hispania and sunday striptease Meanwhile, the first Jesus says, "I'll cure it soon Abolish Monday mornings and Friday afternoons" The other one's out on hunger strike, he's dying by degrees How come Jesus gets industrial disease?
