I think, Rosy, that he has made clear his position on this one. This is a goat. He'd be much more comfortable with that sort of thing if you were not 13 and from a different continent. I'm the installational captain of the local quiz team. We tend to win horribly when they don't have Bobby freaking Fischer on the other team, and even then we put in a respectable showing. -------------------- The biggest, the baddest, and the fattest. I've never read Asimov, but I could tell right away that as soon as the movie came out, fanboys around the world would get coronaries. It looks like yet another godawful action-thriller with an intensely inappropriate name. Om: I do believe one of Asimov's plots involved two robots collaborating to 'unknowingly' kill a human being. Perhaps one stretcher of credibility will be that human programmers, while in complete control, just can't close every loophole. -------------------- The biggest, the baddest, and the fattest. I don't see what's particularly wrong with letting someone who has the sheer mental endurance to do this sort of thing do so. It was either remove the five-day limit or hike up the prizes dramatically. If neither was done, the message is that knowing Lake Titicaca from an exotic film is worth about $3000, and knowing which side of the road they drive on in England is worth $1,000,000. They have to compete with Millionaire. If you are insulted by this and want to blame anyone, blame them. -------------------- The biggest, the baddest, and the fattest. Rabbits, due to their generally weak diet, do not get enough food out of normal digestion to sustain themselves. It is for this reason that they have a caecum -- an organ closely related to the human appendix -- almost as large as their lower bowels. The caecum is a dead end in the bowel, and contains many bacteria which can create invaluable fatty acids and vitamins for the rabbits which would otherwise go without. The problem is that the bacteria cannot break down whole food in the same manner as the intestines. So healthy rabbits produce a specific type of feces called caecotrophs in the morning intended for consumption, which will then be taken into the caecum and broken down by the symbiotic bacteria. THE MORE YOU KNOW. [ Saturday, July 03, 2004 00:48: Message edited by: Ultimate Weapon Custer ] -------------------- The biggest, the baddest, and the fattest. I find it notable that I don't ever change my clothes in the summer unless I've got to go somewhere where I would be encouraged to wear actual clothing. Sometimes I take a shower and, not wishing to be filthy again after two hours, do change into different clothing. The different clothing is functionally identical to the old clothing, though. So I've been pretty much wearing pajamas, with not much exception, since the beginning of June. These pajamas are, however, scrubs, thus making me the most studly man at SW. -------------------- The biggest, the baddest, and the fattest. Posts: 2367 | Registered: Friday, June 27 2003 07:00 |

I'm pretty sure that it's once canned, always canned. Which is an absurd policy, if you asked me, because banned is worse by far and most of the big SW personalities have been at least once. -------------------- The biggest, the baddest, and the fattest. No, he meant that it was originally supposed to be somewhere where he and others could stroke himself. I think, TM, the idea behind reading postmodernist literature is the exact same as the idea behind crossing a three-hundred-yard river of human feces, unless you just so happen to be a very specific kind of person. -------------------- The biggest, the baddest, and the fattest. If you could honestly read through all the M&C series, pick up 'Guns of the South', 'How Few Remain', and 'Worldwar: In the Balance'. And to avoid being accused of fetishry, go out and read Stirling too, I guess. I don't read a lot of fantasy (read: any), so I couldn't tell you what's good and what isn't. -------------------- The biggest, the baddest, and the fattest. I strongly agree, and I don't use PC as an insult -- I just find it offensive that people are willing to call a calendar based on a non-scientific estimation of the birth of one religious leader the 'common era' calendar. A much better CE calendar would run from the last major prophet (Muhammad, or about ~600 years later than AD/BC -- or perhaps Marx, if you felt whimsical), the last major geopolitics shift (1820? 1945? 1992?)... needless to say, a mess we'd have to get into every time someone did something history-worthy. AD/BC can be used without a faint hint of imperialist sentiment, at least, so I'm happy with them. -------------------- They want to have a war to keep their factories They want to have a war to keep us on our knees They want to have a war to stop us buying Japanese They want to have a war to stop industrial disease They're pointing out the enemy to keep you deaf and blind They want to suck your energy, incarcerate your mind Give you Rule Brittania, gassy beer, page three Two weeks in Hispania and sunday striptease Meanwhile, the first Jesus says, "I'll cure it soon Abolish Monday mornings and Friday afternoons" The other one's out on hunger strike, he's dying by degrees How come Jesus gets industrial disease? As much as I'd love to post a mutual counterpoint to the natural source of saltpeter a few posts back and Dr. Objectification a single post back, I don't think it's possible without seeming dangerously blase. Ah, hell, blase is my milieu anyway. Welcome back, I guess. -------------------- The biggest, the baddest, and the fattest. Posts: 2367 | Registered: Friday, June 27 2003 07:00 |
