I have an XP but I don't like it much. It freezes and crashes way to much. I'm saving for a Dell or a Mac.

My cast is off if anyone remembers (discussed three weeks ago). Hooray for me.

I'm sure a Dell will work far better than Windows XP.

Is Dell even an OS? I know it's a brand of computers but it uses WinXP as it's operating system, or at least the latest ones do.

If it is an OS, I've been missing out on something.

EDIT: Confirmed- Dells are NOT an OS.

Indeed Custer, I'm almost positive a Dell would work better than a lousy XP.

I think allowing you to think about using a computer unmolested should earn a man five to ten.

Let's try this again.

A Dell is hardware. Windows XP is software; software which, incidentally, will come installed on your Dell.

The thought that, for some years, I have breathed the same air as you comes close to driving me to suicide.

As always, I think Microsoft could do better, but I think SP2 is a step in the right direction. As for XP in general, if you take good care of the computer, you shouldn't eXPerience any big, consistent problems.

Yeah, but why should you have to take time out of your day for computer care?

Because you actually care for what's stored on it?

Behaving like an idiot with a computer and disregarding its well-being will thrash it, doesn't matter whether it's Mac, PC, or any Linux variant.

Regardless, trying to say 'eXPerience' is a crime against humanity. I'm still trying to work out whether failing to do so is better or worse...

I don't behave like an idiot with my computer, it runs it's utilities overnight, and I don't spend all day at VT loading/unloading shareware to see what it does IMAGE(smile000.gif)
I pretty much stick with Photoshop, 3D apps, iPhoto and the scaner IMAGE(smile000.gif)

I thought that was what XP stood for. But concerning SP2, I can't believe it will take until fall before they can release it.

Somewhat unrelated, but The Inquirer (among other sites) have news concerning 2 newly discovered Microsoft Internet Explorer bugs. There is no patch available for them yet as they are in the -day infection category(Patch is made because of active infections or attacks).

Indeed, XP seems to be a perfectly fine operating system.

chances aer your trying to use the wrong edition of XP if you computer crashes all the time and you do take care of it.
*cough*home*cough*
infact, even Microsoft reccomends Pro over Home.

Of course they do, they're getting more money that way.

And I will never buy a computer running Home.
