I keep planning to come back for some more punishment of my taste buds, but somehow I keep putting it off, which is very fortunate. Most memorable quote: quote:This guy followed me around for over ten minutes (there's actually an option you can set to follow another character automatically). I shoud have dragged him deep into the "wilderness" (PK area) and either cut him apart or just leave him stranded there for someone else. Didn't look like he'd find his way back. Instead I just used my limited knowledge of Moron and told him to "lol stfu u stupid noob" and went offline. quote:Don't feel bad. I have yet to beat one Myst game without help. I'm improving though. For Myst, I read the walkthrough from start to finish. For Riven, I played halfway, then got stuck and used the hints extensively. In Exile, I had to look for hints about four times. In Revelation, I've only used the internal hint map twice and it didn't really help me. :P Where are you stuck in Riven? -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. Here's a secret: There are actually thousands of posts (PPP2) missing from the non-General forums that weren't yet added to the archives. I have them saved in a format that'll take many weeks to sort and convert, so I've kept putting it off for the last year or more. For some of them, I'm the only one who has them in any form, but others were also saved manually, so someone here is bound to have them - I can't find out who, because the PPP2 organization topic slipped through a crack in reality. If I had those, it might only take a few days... ;) [ Friday, July 21, 2006 11:00: Message edited by: Drow ] -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. FIFTY! It's currently 33 here, but I'm quite sure it hasn't gone far above 40 this week yet (I haven't checked the thermometer regularly though). So technically, I'm not late even though it is the next morning local time (and incidentally my birthday). Myst IV has me completely in its clutches, which is why I only started the stats run yesterday afternoon. Then I set it up wrong and only noticed in the evening. It should have been finished after another hour, but I fell asleep. So this is why you get them today, still some hours short of midnight, board time. -- Oh right, before I forget: The Encyclopedia Ermariana celebrates its third birthday today as well (that's the "today" of board time, not local time, ie the 17th)! It started three years ago as an MSWord document. Late in July it became a Geocities page, and stayed that way for two years (although the design was improved on a bit). In all that time, I don't think the number of articles increased over 16. Last year, it moved to a MediaWiki site, which then moved to encyclopedia.ermarian.net in December. It now has over 300 entries, some of them quite short (and others of low quality), but the work is progressing far faster than it was earlier. Of course, it did stagnate again after Slarty left... Anyway, as you can see, the skin was just changed to a white on dark-blue theme, which hopefully makes it easier to read. Unfortunately, this meant the logo had to be removed, because it didn't fit with the background. On this note, I know there are a lot of talented artists lurking around here. Do any of you feel like designing a new icon for the Encyclopedia? The picture should be around 150x150 px large to fit in the space (upper left corner), and should match the dark blue background (meaning there shouldn't be fuzzy white borders around it; the logo itself doesn't need to follow the color theme). I could offer different things in return, for example webspace, an @ermarian.net email, or even (for those who still haven't got one) a Gmail invite. Talk about glass pearls... :P -- I. Joining Rate There are 75 new victims waiting to lose their sanity; 39 of them have already lost it. You felt embarassed when you realized it six months later? --- I can't talk, though. Some things have haunted me for the last five years. In 9th grade, I got a phone call just a few weeks before a prom, and some girl I knew only from sight asked me out. Firstly, I hardly knew her, secondly I could (and can) not dance, and thirdly said girl was in a relationship with someone else (I don't know how solidly at that point, but still). To finish it off, I was several years younger than anybody in my grade then. So I turned it down. The worst part was that somehow half my grade knew about it the next day. Can you imagine that my face is red right now just from the memory? :P -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. Well, I'm not complaining about the system, even though it is convoluted. As it is, the mess of dialogues and text response queries is a scripting marvel - and if I wanted a simple drag and drop interface, I would be playing Diablo or something. But you realize that TM is going to go nuts when he sees the biblical references (the river, the cross-shaped tombstones, etc.). And I can already see the comments about the "stereotypical role of women" regarding Phaedra. :P There are a couple more glitches with town entrances (you can be sure that if there is a way to get stuck in a wall, I'm going to do it on the first try... ); I'll send them all when I've arrived at Thassaka I guess. Edit: Gremlinicon. Ha. Um... there are still about 10-15 posts missing on page 21 of MoS. I'm going to take care of that soon, just need to send off my beta report to Kel. Incidentally, the program that makes this print version parses the page so thoroughly that it might just as well feed into a database. The only problem, of course, is the space. I have over 1 GB free, but my host will give me only 200 MB in database space... -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast.
