I'm noticing that the GF Series Board is almost inactive in these days. So, in my mind came a question... Why in the Avernum Series Boards there are almost always new topics, and instead in the GFS almost none? Is because Avernum sell more than Geneforge? -------------------- Download Geneforge 4: Rebellion You have 6 posts. I believe that could be due to the fact that avernum/exile were the first (at least widely popular - at least to my knowledge) spiderweb games. I think that the emptiness is mostly due to the holiday time. Two reasons: 1) Blades of Avernum and the constant contributions made by the community keeps this constantly busy. There is no equivalent RPG Maker "Blades of Geneforge." 2) Avernum 4. There is a lot of activity right now due to the new game. On the other hand, it's been some time since the last Geneforge game has come out. I would imagine that when GF4 comes out, things will be pretty busy from the Geneforge end. -------------------- Lancer Posts: 73 | Registered: Friday, January 13 2006 08:00 |

I don't think the premise is correct, as neither the Exile Trilogy nor the Avernum Trilogy has seen a single post for over a week. Avernum 4 of course has been active but the game has been out for less than a year, so what do you expect. But, I too have noticed that GF Series has been much quieter since Slarty left. -------------------- "I can't read this thread with that image. Accept it, Avernum/Exile is just better than Geneforge, Geneforge is a game to the new and inexperienced Spiderweb players. Posts: 446 | Registered: Friday, July 22 2005 07:00 |

Well it's not THAT bad, it's just underestimated because it's a very short game, that never will be so venerated as Avernum, as I said, the game that the newbies tend to play. Ohh no offense even I play geneforge sometimes, but well, you got the idea. [ Tuesday, July 18, 2006 17:11: Message edited by: chicho1102 ] Posts: 446 | Registered: Friday, July 22 2005 07:00 |

There aren't as many people currently playing Geneforge as Avernum 4 at the moment. Until something occurs to cause some excitement like Geneforge 4 beta testing, there won't be as much posting. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

A4 is a blatant attempt to put a stop to the "Avernum > Geneforge" school of thought. quote:Well maybe it's the other way around, maybe the "older" players are too addicted with avernum (maybe too much skribbane :) ) to not notice the excitement of geneforge. As i think, both games are cute it just depends on what you want of the game and how you feel like. I believe avernum to be quite attached to the old style of rpg games, where you were a hero and all and geneforge is more realistic and morally questionable. -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! Geneforge rocks. Plain and simple. In fact, when you look at other forums online and see which of Jeff's games are talked about, the games that are constantly being mentioned are the Geneforge series. Outside of Jeff's forums, Avernum doesn't seem to be nearly as popular from what I have seen. In fact, it was all the talk about GF1 and GF2 that led me to Spiderweb software to begin with. I had never ever heard about Avernum or Nethergate until I came to this site. -------------------- Lancer Posts: 73 | Registered: Friday, January 13 2006 08:00 |

Google Geneforge and you get 157,000 items. Google Avernum and you get 317,000 items. Perhaps you would care to revise your statement. [ Wednesday, July 19, 2006 07:44: Message edited by: Lt. I didn't meant that -- just because there are more results on Avernum this don't mean that is "loved" than Geneforge. -------------------- Download Geneforge 4: Rebellion You have 6 posts. quote:Avernum also has a few more years on Geneforge. And when you include Exile, the gameworld has been around a LOT longer than Geneforge. It is not surprising that it would have more hits. Hit total does not necessarily correlate with current popularity. quote:What exactly in my statement needs revising? MY QUOTE: quote:I am purely going by my own experience which may be different from yours. Look, the fact is that in *my* (notice I am not generalizing) online forays people tend to talk a lot more about Geneforge than Avernum. Notice I am not saying that one is better than the other (as I love both).
