Firefox SpiderWeb Icon in General

1. Why do you call this a "Firefox" icon? It has nothing to do with Firefox.

2. I didn't make that. The little spider I used for the Member Database was copied from Jeff's main website - see spidweb.com.

So I suppose you ask him to copy the icon from the spiderwebsoftware.com site to the ironycentral.com site. However, since he doesn't want this icon on Irony Central, there's another possibility.

The following would need to go onto the forum template - inside the head section:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="{url}" type="image/x-icon" />Replacing {url} with the address of the icon that should be displayed there.

The admins may be able to fiddle with the forum template, too.

Hm. Alo can mess with the forum's settings. Alo's a mod. I'm a mod.

A mischievous grin spread over Aran's face, until he realized that all the really cool things he could do with it would probably attract the ire of the admins. Pity.

Whereas Drakey is a high priest of that dark deity, much like Icshi and Richard White. We might have a theme going there...

I have seen the dark forum yawning
Where the black topics roll without aim
Where they roll in their horror unheeded
Without posts, or pages, or name.

I told Drakefyre about 7664 because he was online then. Stareye got to the other one. Drakefyre deletes spammers. Stareye's banning leaves no marks.

Solution: Per-post karma system. Like they have on Slashdot... and PPP could archive the topics...

Laziness makes the economy work. I suddenly get warm fuzzies about my powers of procrastination.

Good gracious! We've found another bug in the UBB!

The "----" separator appears to be actually used for determining what is the signature of the post in some way. What's weird about this is that it usually works correctly in spite of this.

In fact, I logged in right after EndeavorBot posted and added some extra linebreaks which my program had somehow dropped. It worked correctly then.

If UBB does what it usually does, the next post by EndeavorBot in this topic would result in the "signature" being updated in previous posts, deleting the majority of the stats. So I suppose it's very, very good that I used a different account for it.

--

Having spent a lot of time trying to find a way to distinguish between post and signature in the PPP archives, I find this very ironic.

Um... Aran? The lists on Endeavor are broken. All of them.

EDIT: Well, when accessed through the sidebar, anyway.

A part of them is badly structured and needs a URL alias that ends in a * (wildcard) to work properly. Another part of them is badly coded and breaks if accessed with that same * in the end. The lists page is the intersection of these subsets.

I'll fix it one of these days. I've already worked a lot on the PPP site this week, and once I'm done with Nano I can spend some time on the Endeavor too.

Edit: I don't claim to be a statistician or a mathematician, but that formula feels wonky:

quote:
% SPAM = 1 - (OCT / (NOV / 2))
I can see where you're going with this:

quote:
First, that every post in October was legitimate. Second, that every other post a person made this month which was ABOVE their October value is spam.
But from those conditions shouldn't the formula for number of spam posts be this?

(NOV-OCT)/2

For example, take my postcount, which very nearly doubled. According to your verbal condition, that means half of the increase (or a quarter of my total) was spam.

But according to your formula, 0 of it was spam. What your formula does is more close to:

quote:
First, that every post in October was legitimate. Second, that every post in November that was ABOVE double their October value was spam.
There's a world of difference between doing the doubling or the subtraction first. :P

Oh damn. I messed up again and let it put the test version of the new search engine on the news page.

Part of it are database queries. The numbers are all the search results.

Announcement on behalf of EndeavorBot:

The program is now running as it should. It was programmed to remove the "updated" flags from all accounts and then start updating as long as any updated flags were at 0.

In testing, I had commented out the command that removed the flags. As a result, EndeavorBot believed it was finished before it had started. This is now fixed. It will be ready in a few hours.

It's somewhat amusing that you all thought the spam topic it posted was legit - if I say the stats *start* in a minute, how is it going to *finish* in another minute?

Girl Genius
Drow Tales
Dominic Deegan

SinFest
Once Upon a Table

And some others I can't remember right now.
