That's precisely why I don't see them in the first place. Since I'm not going to get your money back if it sucks, I'm too cheap to spend money on a movie I'm not 100% sure I'll enjoy. The last movie I saw was 'Land of Plenty', and the one before then LotR III. Both several months ago. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! I don't know who said that Misc. was coming back, but since the day I joined (May 2003), no one with any inside knowledge of the Spiderweb administration has seriously suggested that Misc would return. In fact, any time someone asked about it, they said it wouldn't. But yes, General has replaced Misc, and many people are not happy about it. But what's there to do? :P [ Thursday, March 03, 2005 00:19: Message edited by: Daryl Mycroft [Arancaytar] ] -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! Please don't tell me you're serious. #1 is Jeff, of course (named Spidweb). Who's the first member of any board but the founder? :P I believe #2 is named Krizsan and his wife's account, but it's never used. When she does post, she uses Jeff's account. Edit: Oh, and to head off any further queries. http://www.ironycentral.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_profile;u=00000000 Replace the 00000000 with any number, like 00002984, and you'll get to that person's profile. Or go here (with thanks to Polaris, which is at the moment out of order) http://www.geocities.com/arancaytar/spidweb/members.txt [ Thursday, March 03, 2005 00:13: Message edited by: Daryl Mycroft [Arancaytar] ] -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! That won't make one bit of difference. I didn't. Don't ask me why, but the notion of someone calling themselves "Cairo Jim" because they live in Cairo just seems illogical. "Please" has nothing to do with it. Arctic will eat those who become invisible again. —Arancaytar, who is in this post feeling so oddly Alo-like that he might as well go all the way and steal the old siggie as well. It is also, he reasons, a wonderful opportunity to tell the newbies not to do this. Stay away from Alorael's signature if you value your un-sniped selves. Welcome to the Spiderweb. Initially, it'll bear resemblance to a madhouse. Then it becomes home. La Telarana = The Spiderweb. I should have known, really. *smacks self* Edit: First: A low member number indicates long-standing membership of the community and thus experience and reputation. Second: There are infinitely more high member numbers than low ones. It is thus much harder to obtain a low number than a high one. In fact, it is infinitely easy to get an account with the highest number there is (register a new one), and nearly infinitely difficult to get one with any other number than the highest. Thus, economic principle dicates that low member numbers are more precious than high ones. First off, I have seen "Fast and the Furious", and it sucked in my sadly-less-than-humble opinion. That said, intellectual snobbery is pleasant to engage in, but it does little to make one popular. Believe me, it is experience speaking. [ Thursday, March 03, 2005 06:14: Message edited by: Daryl Mycroft [Arancaytar] ] -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! When in unknown territory, I make it a point to right-click and copy URLs and paste them in the address bar. Spending nearly two years in the company of people who will occasionally try to mask a link to Goatse for kicks has taught me that. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! For the benefit of clarity: In the Spiderweb Society, a large image has come to be used as a "topic blocker" that is intended to stop the thread and incite moderators to lock it. (Some evidence indicates this custom originates in the Desperance boards) My theory is that, following the quote "an image is more than a thousand words", the immense flow of information contained in the picture simply overwhelms any sensible or insensible communication that might have taken place previously. That theory is supported by the fact that some have successfully used large bodies of texts (say, the full text of Kafkas's "Transformation", or Lucky's speech in Beckett's "Waiting for Godot") rather than images. The actual content of the image does not matter as much as the size, though custom calls either for mangos, goats, photos of famous politicians/dictators, anime cartoons, adult-themed anime cartoons, or goatse, in order of increasing severity. The last, of course, has the added benefit of getting one banned faster than one can say "Code of Conduct". Being from South America (Venezuela, right?) I think he does. (That is: He is from there, not I, as the preceding sentence's ambiguous structure might otherwise be interpreted). :) By the way, it is usual for members here to address one another by acronyms of their names if thse are two words or longer, especially if they change it often. Thus, 'BSC'. Edit: And what is "Telaraca"? [ Tuesday, March 01, 2005 22:25: Message edited by: Daryl Mycroft [Arancaytar] ] -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki!
