Well, Zephyr hasn't been posting that much either, so it's easy to think he was gone for a while.

As for Scorp, I remember he sent me a lemonparty link on AIM not too long ago, so he's alive and kicking. Just not on these forums. Which, as I'm sure most would agree after brief contemplation, is a good thing.

Furthermore, what is space if there is no matter? Even in the "vacuum" of space there is a certain amount of matter (mainly hydrogen iirc). Without matter, there is nothing space can be measured by. It might as well not exist.

If that's true... then am I right in assuming that, if anyone says AD&D now, they've either been playing since the dawn of time and before, or they're just trying to sound smart? :D

Many of the early RPG's you mentioned are technically strategy, but I suppose that back then that was the closest they got to RPG.
Way to pass judgment before giving something a shot. Never mind that cRPGs are the natural decendents of D&D and other PnP RPGs.

I weep for your generation.

First of all, the commonly accepted name for the world is "Ermarian", referring to the entire collective of the caves and the surface. Unless you mean only the caves, in which "Avernum" would be correct.

"Hell" is quite probably a different dimension (or planet) entirely, since whenever demons want to overrun something in Avernum, they come through a portal. You'd think they'd have found some kind of physical way if they lived in the same world. Efreeti are apparently demons (or at least spirits) as well, so they'll likely live somewhere in there too.

TM has some interesting ideas about Rakshasi and their alternate dimension, which I can't quite remember right now.

Jeff himself makes mention of "the nether" in one spell description, which appears to be the origin of both demons and spirits. So the Land of the Dead is probably equivalent to Hell, or The Nether, or what you want to call it.

The Vahnatai lands, obviously, are another level (or set of levels) beneath Avernum - Avernum appears to have been a station on their journey underground, since they call it "their former country".

Then there's Bahssikavah (sp?), or lizardland if you will. That's probably a whole lot different from the Vahnatai lands, or the Vahnatai would have mentioned some encounters with them.

Quite understandable. Winter is leaving, the days are getting longer and we have more time for posts.

Actually, it should be going the other way, but it just seems to me that the closer Summer is getting, the more posts we get.

This is not supposed to be a political statement, a trolling, or an incitement to debate. Regardless of political stance, I believe we should not forget those who dream of peace, and who are ready to die for this dream. There are altogether too few of them.

So if you have some time at about 15:00 GMT today, perhaps stop for a moment of silent remembrance.

On top of that, it's a freewebs account. Unbelievable amateurish. It isn't fun iwithout complaining to some domain name registrant or ISP.

On the other hand, complaining to freewebs would get the site off the web faster than you can say "Terms of Service". I think I will do that to brighten an otherwise gloomy day.

Edit: And what a pity. The site looks wonderfully made. I wonder how someone would afford that kind of professional web design, but not get themselves a domain?

Edit2: By the way, just out of interest, is it legal for another company to sell MS products at reduced prices - are those still licensed programs, or some kind of rip-off?

Don't, I'd say. This thread is quite fine for discussion, we don't need another poll and another thread filling up the boards. :)

food for thought.

I do not think it is paying for these services that is the illegal part. It is offering to sell them that is illegal (when it is illegal at all, of course. It is not here as far as I know.) The other would be unenforcable - who can check whether or not you have paid?

Oh, and yes, I'm talking about prostitution, not piracy. :P
