If we can list fictional places now: I've always wanted to get my hands (quite literally!) on one of those linking books from the Myst series. That would be even better than Middle-earth! I spot two interesting points there. 1. "The Eternal Empire", capitalized... doesn't that mean it's a proper title? Allegedly, it's not the "Empire of Something" or the "Something Empire", because "there's no need for fancy names". But I guess it's not supposed to be a name. 2. "Scion of Pralgad, Highest Lady of Vantanas, Mistress of Valorim." A "Scion" is a descendant. Unlike the older Imperial houses (Sol, Ironclad, Baltimore?), who are allegedly of Aizoan origin, Prazac has Pralgadian ancestors. 3. "Highest Lady of Vantanas, Mistress of Valorim." No mention of Aizo, although she includes Vantanas which is barely settled. If she indeed is a Scion of Pralgad, does she harbor some kind of contempt/resentment for Aizo? What would that mean for the "Golden Age" that is often proposed to have begun with her reign? I remember Alec played a character named Lena Xao in some RP ("Gethein Deludere?"). One could of course use some kind of tool to look through the program - after all, if it is possible to unearth Anaximander's "easter egg" with that, it should be possible to find a mention of "Pralgrad" if one is there. Like you, I don't have the time to look, though. -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. The database I'm building up will contain AIM monikers as well - but I'm not sure if it will be okay to display them in a search form. I am assuming that since this information is public in the profile, there is no harm in publishing it elsewhere, but there might well be an issue with that. Also, I'm still interested in whether anyone has tried Skype. I use it, and it absolutely rocks. I'm a little uneasy communicating in voice rather than text with someone I don't really know, but it's a fascinating system. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! No, you got the order wrong - it goes like this: First read the thread, Then think about the response, Then post. Unless you were being funny, in which case it wasn't bloody obvious. :P [ Monday, August 22, 2005 06:17: Message edited by: Arancaytar ] -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! The LotR is obvious, as are the elf-ears. But what is the moon about? And a peace flag? Good heavens, do I get political that often here? o_o @Marlenny: *makes fun because it is actually 5 minutes apart, not 3* :P [ Monday, August 22, 2005 05:30: Message edited by: Arancaytar ] -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! OOC: For the sake of coherence, please write in objective third person perspective. You can use present or past tense however you choose, but by writing from a first person perspective, you make it easy to confuse the characters, and make it hard to distinguish between speech and narrative. Also, the Caps Key is Your Friend. Please use it. Finally, if you have trouble with English spelling, you can use either MS Word's spellchecker, or one of the following tools: http://chxo.com/scripts/spellcheck.php http://www.spellcheck.net/ :) Other than that, I see no problem; you're welcome! ;) -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! This has bothered me to no end. I don't have access to the games right now (and can't download them either), or I'd check the spelling myself. With Google, I've found Pralgrad and Pralgad used equally often, and on these boards Pralgrad is used a bit more than Pralgad. I'm not asking for fan-established canon - I assume Jeff Vogel must have used one of these spellings consistently in the games, and I'd like to know which. If someone knows, I'd also be interested what gave rise to the other spelling... Edit: Likewise, Aixo or Aizo? I am reasonably sure it is Aizo in the games, but not entirely.
