True, those tests are more often than not loads of bovine fecal matter, and usually don't measure things that are useful in the real world. I didn't include the "because", but based on the standards our school system sets, I am considered more intelligent than my peers. I did not mean to seem smug. I wish people would stop taking my posts out of context. I later said that college and real-world experience is much more valuable than tests in school. There is a difference between knowledge and wisdom. For my age group, I have a large amount of knowledge. I do not claim to be wise, nor even knowledgable when compared to people with more life experience than I. I am, however, more knowledgable than 99% of my age group. (according to the worthless government intelligence tests) btw, my signature is supposed to be taken as irony. It is a generalization. The generalization it makes is that generalizations are false. Thus, if it is true, it is false. [ Friday, August 15, 2003 16:30: Message edited by: Aarrow Swift ] -------------------- "... and approximately one sea turtle." quote:Try people who misuse antibiotics, creating bacteria resistant to all known drugs that breed in hospitals. Or, the farming industry. "Round-up ready" seed makes them think it's okay to dump massive amounts of chemicals on their crops. Hmm, that won't get into the water table. Worse yet, I consistantly see farmers spraying fields with herbicide WHEN THERE'S NOTHING PLANTED THERE!!! (it's to kill weeds that sprout up between plantings) We're going to eventually sterilize all of the soil so badly that only plants genetically altered to be "round-up ready" will be able to survive. Talk about long-term damage! I know these things are kind of diffucult to pin on one company, but they're far worse than feeding antibiotics to farm animals. I don't know of any conclusive evidence saying that's as harmful as people think. Other people have already covered the other big evils, but I thought these needed mentioned. EDIT: Go up a little ways and read Bob M2k's post. Focus especially on the last line. It also depends on what age group you're talking about. I'm 17 and I'm quite a bit smarter than any of my classmates, I always rank in the 99th percentile on standardized tests, but someone who's gone to college and lived on their own for a while is probably considerably smarter than me in a lot of things. So, am I considered above average intelligence? -------------------- "... and approximately one sea turtle." Posts: 277 | Registered: Tuesday, August 13 2002 07:00 |

quote:Wow, thanks for taking what I said completely out of proportion. I thought I was being pretty fair and trying to see both sides. Sorry if I'm getting mildly irritating. I'm pretty easy to get along with, and if you bought a windows pc yesterday I'm not saying you should burn it and assassinate Bill Gates, just that I contend most people might think a little differently about macs if they'd tried them first. And so as to not continue to irritate people, this will be my last post on this topic. Originally written by Aarrow Swift on August 13, 2003 9:58 PM: So, in the end, I guess it's personal preference. My mac doesn't crash very often at all. I use it probably and average of 14 hours a week and it crashes once every month or so. I use Windows at school maybe 25 hours a week and it crashes about once a day, sometimes twice. -------------------- "... and approximately one sea turtle." ¿Question? What direction is 6? Wouldn't it make sense to have 0,1,2,3? Since there are 4 directions, right? This is my utter lack of experience speaking, but could someone explain this to me? Ñ -------------------- I hate signatures. Posts: 277 | Registered: Tuesday, August 13 2002 07:00 |

Let me first say that I completely agree, Custer. After using both, I happen to prefer Macs. Windows machines have a lot of bugs, they crash, the OS is frustrating. All of these factors are what make me want to use macs. That's not even mentioning the antitrust suites against microsoft. That is why I say people have been blinded by Gates. Because people usually use microsoft stuff first, they end up thinking it's all there is. So, in the end, I guess it's personal preference. But I think most people would prefer macs if it wasn't for the massive market for all things microsoft. EDIT: Custer, you give me too much credit. I'm not THAT fanatical. quote:Take this straight from the mouth of someone who spent the first 12 years of his life on Windows before getting a mac as a home computer. Macs are better. I feel repulsed every time I have to use one of those awful windows machines. I feel a deep empathy for people blinded by Gates (and AOL for that matter). AA, you are blinded by your ignorance. It's not your fault. It is your fault, however, when you revel in your ignorance and post messages like that. Really. I read a post (somewhere) saying that we would be able to make custom items/weapons/armor and things, but that we wouldn't be able to take them to anyone else's scenario. Does this mean that there's absolutely no way to take one of these custom items to a new scenario, even if it's by the same designer? There's nothing that can be done to allow for this? -------------------- I hate signatures. Posts: 277 | Registered: Tuesday, August 13 2002 07:00 |

quote:Because America is a large and diverse land, filled with people from all walks of life. We are a melting pot of every culture, race, and ethnicity in the world. We are not one unified organism. Do not try to generalize us. Whatever problems you have with some action the United States Government has done, to try and say American citizens are the embodiment of said action and thus take your anger out on random citizens is, to me, almost as bad as the action itself. Now, my question: If there's a pink elephant in the corner, and no one acknowledges its existance, is it really there? -------------------- "... and approximately one sea turtle." In the Beforetime, the Longlongago, there was a misc. board that turned into a long series of all-out brawls. I left for about 10 months and when I returned, it was gone. Presumably because of the horrible discussions that took place. <shudder> -------------------- "... and approximately one sea turtle." Posts: 277 | Registered: Tuesday, August 13 2002 07:00 |
