Deprecated function: implode(): Passing glue string after array is deprecated. Swap the parameters in drupal_get_feeds() (line 394 of /var/www/pied-piper.ermarian.net/includes/common.inc).

Spent this afternoon adding cutscene capability.

Here is a simple cutscene script. It move the party to a certain location and has them walk east a little while chatting.

It requires a bit of finicky placing of the individual characters, but it should be able to do most anything you will want.

This looks very promising, especially the text on characters. Say goodbye to frame animation and hello cutscenes!

What happens if the player uses a singleton? And can NPCs be used in this too?

Great! This is yet another wonderful addition, and warmly welcomed in my book.

The chat sounds great, reminds me of the old Exile cutscenes.

Questions: (Drakey's), and the text would be limited to about 6 words, right? Otherwise it wouldn't quite fit over the characters correctly.

Will the designer be able to place multiple explosions/sounds at one time? Will creatures be able to move on their own, or will the designer have to create different encounter groups? (The last one isn't a very big complaint, but it could easilly make some types of cutscenes be overly painful if you're having a large battle or somesuch.) Will both explosions and sounds "refresh" the screen, or will it be like BoE (ie only explosions refresh the screen)? More questions as I think of them. And yeah, thanks loads for giving us designers more convenience in doing this.

With this, one could even make an intro movie sequence! :D

Good point about the multiple explosions - I don't know if this is what you mean, but I think simultaneous effects would be quite nice. For example some sequence where a demon is summoned would look nice if there was a ring of simultaneous explosions all around it. And it would allow for a group of people to 'teleport' at the same time, like in the Exile III intro sequence. :)

I've had a nifty little idea for multiple explosions for BoE.

Place invisible monsters over blocked terrain, and have an "Explosion on space" node, with a large enough radius to get all of them.

It would also do damage to the party, but that just adds to the realism.

I think I'll go test that…

¿Question?

What direction is 6? Wouldn't it make sense to have 0,1,2,3? Since there are 4 directions, right? This is my utter lack of experience speaking, but could someone explain this to me?

Well, you can move in 8 directions (up,up-right, right, down-right, down, down-left, left, up-left) but there's only 4 directions for each graphic, right? This is kinda confusing. Or ARE there 8?

It shows the amount of damage done, so make them fire immune.

Can we make the PCs draw their weapons in a cutscene? That would be good.
Oh! Even better! Can we make them die? Seriously, like in that animation in the Main Menu in E3, where Throg died, and they brought him back to town, and brought him back to life?

I tried to play through that once. I used a 1-PC megaparty, and got stuck at one of the last tests. (Darn reuniting nodes.)
