So sorry for my ignorance, but I've seen Richard White's name a lot...who is he? Remember, I am new to the Spiderweb community (not new to the games though :) ) Nikki, thanks for the friend request on Facebook! I'm really enjoying the Spiderwebbers clan on Kingdom of Loathing. :) Oh, and I am part of the Facebook group...doing my bit to keep it alive! By the way, anyone who wants to add me as a friend on facebook feel free. It would be nice to have a friend that likes Spiderweb Software games. Just add a message to the request so that I know you're not a random stalker. :P -------------------- "And if I had the choice I'd take the voice I got / Cause it was hard to find. / You know I've come too far to wind up right back where I started." - Concrete Blonde (True) http://tobylinn.awardspace.com http://toby-linn.stumbleupon.com/ http://www.flixster.com/user/tobylinn Posts: 72 | Registered: Wednesday, February 20 2008 08:00 |

Wouldn't spammers be people with lots of posts? I mean, if they were spamming topics all the time with ads and stuff.... It would be people who only unlurk once a year to ask for help who would have the lowest post count I would think. -------------------- "And if I had the choice I'd take the voice I got / Cause it was hard to find.

I play Warbook on Facebook (social networking site) a lot, and for those who don't know, it's like an online text-based game where you attack other players. Now, you can't see who the actual person behind the character is, as there's no link to the actual Facebook profile. So a lot of the girls give their characters a male name or something asexual because sometimes guys can be pretty vicious....like sexually harassing a female player or insulting her in some way, just because they know you're female. Or they'll try to come on to a girl player. I just wanted to add in my two cents on another reason girls play male characters. -------------------- "And if I had the choice I'd take the voice I got / Cause it was hard to find.

I love being able to play a girl in Spiderweb Software's games! One time I had an all female group in Avernum. I don't really play a lot of other RPG's so I can't say anything about that. I have noticed that there are other adventure games where you can play females. Like Journey to the Center of the Earth and there was another game I played called Five Magical Amulets...alright, so I don't play a lot of other games :P Personally I have no problem playing a male either, it's sorta like an alter ego....I play Warbook on Facebook sometimes and I referred to my character as "he" once. That was funny. Well, not even spiderweb themed wallpapers I guess.... Does anyone know of any sites that have game wallpapers that could sortof relate to Spiderweb? Like I've searched for RPG wallpapers but all I've found are for specific games and characters. Like general RPG wallpapers? That aren't related to a specific game? Sorry if this post is confusing, it's hot in my office and my brain isn't focusing properly. -------------------- "And if I had the choice I'd take the voice I got / Cause it was hard to find.

I was just wondering whether anyone had made or seen any desktop wallpapers related to Spiderweb Software's series of games? And I'm not talking about the wallpapers that the games have, those are very nice though! It's nice that they're in 1024x768 size as well. I guess I could always do a print screen of a cool moment in the game and use that for my desktop...it's just I'm feeling the urge to have something Spiderweb related on my desktop. -------------------- "And if I had the choice I'd take the voice I got / Cause it was hard to find.

That's a lot of stuff to make up still...and you're right, the hobbit part would be boring cause nothing much ever happens in the Shire. :P I'm sure the Hobbit movie will be good, I'm just not sure about the filler movie. It could either be really bad or really good....it could be interesting seeing how Aragorn became Strider I guess. -------------------- "And if I had the choice I'd take the voice I got / Cause it was hard to find.

Well, Guillermo Del Toro...that could be interesting! I do like his movies. But, there is no book between The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring....will they make something up? Will it come from the Silmarrion? (I don't know whether I spelt that right). -------------------- "And if I had the choice I'd take the voice I got / Cause it was hard to find.

I myself have seen keygens available on peer to peer sites (and no, I didn't download them I was just doing a search out of curiousity) and wondered what Jeff thinks of them. Maybe he's hoping that the people who do use the keygens will buy the game eventually? or that they will find out about his other games and start playing them and eventually make purchases? Sorta like a test run or something.... Yeah, I always dumped my items in the big portal room that all the pylons led back to, it was pretty convenient especially since I was always coming back there! -------------------- "And if I had the choice I'd take the voice I got / Cause it was hard to find. / You know I've come too far to wind up right back where I started." - Concrete Blonde (True) http://tobylinn.awardspace.com http://toby-linn.stumbleupon.com/ Posts: 72 | Registered: Wednesday, February 20 2008 08:00 |

quote:Oh, cool! I guess it will be available on your website? I'll have to keep an eye out for it. Funnily enough, I haven't played Blades of Avernum for awhile...I had gotten through the scenario "Valley of Dying Things" and then I went to another scenario that removed all my characters and left one totally different character...and I had saved so I didn't know how to get my people back. So after that I got discouraged and didn't play anymore. But definitely I have to start again, especially if there's dinosaurs involved :) and there's so many good scenarios out there that (hopefully) won't mess up my game. I'm putting in my vote for a science fiction game! A galaxy with many different planets to explore would be cool.... or maybe you're a group of four astronauts, and you crashland on some planet and have to explore...but then how would you know the language? and what would happen to the old ship? hmmm...this making up games is harder than I thought! Oh, or howabout dinosaurs! Did anyone else think the Whirling Thrasher / Chitrach Queen / Pit Crawler in Avernum 5 looked like a Velociraptor? Fighting dinosaurs would be fun! -------------------- "And if I had the choice I'd take the voice I got / Cause it was hard to find.

I would recommend playing the games in order....or even starting with Nethergate and Geneforge. In terms of Exile, I used to play Exile 3 a lot (it's how I discovered spiderweb games) and I was very recently trying Exile 1 and 2 and I couldn't do it! It was weird....the interface was really bugging me, it just seemed to claustrophobic, closed in. I can play Exile 3 still, but maybe that's because I used to play it. Maybe after you play the newer games, you can't go back to the older games. I used to eat it a lot when I was a kid as well, it wasn't that bad... My mom used to mash it up and mix mayonnaise and relish with it for sandwiches, it was good. Of course now that I have a daughter of my own, I can subject her to the same thing, lol. -------------------- "And if I had the choice I'd take the voice I got / Cause it was hard to find.

I love Neil Gaiman and Alan Moore's writings, they write the best graphic novels! I'm also a fan of Jeff Smith's Bone series...and I used to read a lot of Marvel and DC comics when I was younger. As for online comics, I'm a big fan of CTRL-ALT-DEL ( http://www.cad-comic.com/ ), it's a hilarious cartoon about two gamers.

Actually I try not to pay attention to the religious aspect anyways, and just think of it a good fantasy story. By the way I hope you like Dune, I read it last about 10 years ago and have to re-read it one of these days....this time I have the other four books (I only want to read the ones by Frank Herbert) and can read the rest of the series. I just finished re-reading the Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis, throughly enjoyed it. It's funny to get some adult perspective on books you read as a kid....I guess the same goes for movies too. Next up I'm going to read "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel, I've heard it's good. I don't seem to have as much time as I used to for reading books, I guess I'm on the computer too much, playing spiderweb software games :P -------------------- "And if I had the choice I'd take the voice I got / Cause it was hard to find.
