There've been a number of stinkers over the years, but the worst in recent memory for me has been Pools of Radiance: The Ruins of Myth Drannor. It was billed as being fantastic, but was beyond worthless and drab, when it wasn't crashing my PC.

Sacrifice was also pretty bad.

Ocean Bound gets a definite -9 out of 10, as does Galactic Core.

Reader Rabbit's Kindergarten. I had to help my younger brother, and afterwards had to be sedated so I wouldn't attempt to kill myself.

I know, that game is so horrible. It reminds me of the time I had to play dragon tales with my baby cousin to keep her from crying, which worked out for her, yet I was the one that ended up crying.

Ah forgot a few:

DX: Invisible War (the "sequel" to Deus Ex).

Battlefield: 1942 (the most overrated game ever. period.).

Dungeon Siege (a good "movie" tho... still, I like to PLAY my games).

Jump Start: 1st Grade (because I will never get that song out of my head).

I can't figure out any worse game than 3DO's Might and Magic serie. Ugly, terrible music, unplayable control and wortheless story. Observe that I am talking about M&M and not Heroes of M&M.

So, as the great Groxy, I have come back to be served by goblins. In the "main hall" of the goblin cave was a large totem which resembled very much of... me.

Geneforge 2 is pretty bad. I also have a bunch of GBA games that all pretty much suck.

Originally written by Student of Trinity:

When I was about twelve, back when 16K of RAM was a big deal and there were no hard drives, my brothers and I had to mow a cemetery lawn, and hated the job. So I made a video game, on our TRS-80 computer, in which you had to mow a lawn full of tombstone obstacles, with a lawnmower that you couldn't fully control, and with gophers that would appear and make unsightly holes if you didn't get to them and mow them down in time. For every gopher hole or damaged monument you had to pay for repairs, and your pay for each patch of grass cut was minuscule, so there was no way to finish without being hundreds of dollars in debt, after a tedious and frustrating time trying to get to that last patch of grass before a random swerve of your mower took out another tombstone. The game's one redeeming feature was mowing the gophers; but the random element in your motion made this very unlikely, and if you were too late and hit a gopher hole, it cost you big time for damaging the mower.

This game was designed to be as horrible as possible, and I was also fortunate enough that the pitiful graphics and slow operation played along with this plan very well. So I think it must have been pretty far up there for video game badness.

We played it and played it, and showed it proudly to all our friends, and I had to make about three sequels.

Sounds fun, can I get it?

On my second Mac, the Quadra 700 - Number Maze. It had it's moments, and was one of the better math games, but still.

Another one I forgot is Krazy Kars. I got it on another big demo game CD called "Mega Games". It was awful. You were in a car. Racing other cars that had twice the speed as you and there were officers that would only arrest you and the only way to NOT get arrested and kicked out of the race is to go a fourth of what the other racers were doing.

Sounds like Midtown Madness, except the cops would rather kill you than actually pull you over.

Zelda: Oracle of Ages. There are worse games, but this one was a big disappointment. The other Zelda games I've played were, well, good.

Actually, most of the games that I had on a disk of ~1000 unregistered games were right up there, except for E3, of course.

The worst game I've ever played is Everquest. Can't believe anyone would actually pay to play that, they would have to pay ME to keep playing!

Yea, I didn't really like the geneforges that much. More of an Avernum series fan myself.

That mowing game sounds better than some of the games that I have played in my life. A lot of fishing games are terrible, but I still rent them occasionly.

I bought a bass fishing game for PlayStation that was really bad, but I don't remember what it's called.
I've never played the original Lemmings, but the Sega Genesis and SNES versions are awesome. It's definitely among my favorite games ever.

Lemmings is a classic.

"Budget" shooters, however, are not.

I remember that fishing game, it was so boring. I think is called fishing bass or something, I played it a couple of years ago though i think is supposed to be for little kids or something.

This made me think of “Where on earth is Carmen Santiago” and “Oregon Trail”, but Reader Rabbit was much worse than those.
