This may sound really wierd but last night I had a dream in which I was writing a poem...And then when I woke up I re-wrote it and it sounds like I'm about to cut my wrists or something...Anyway I'll post it here -

"Dispair, Misery, Hatred
All of these emotions flood me now,
It seems no light can seep into the darkness that is my soul.

My friends try to tell me that I wasn't allways like this,
But the darkness consumes my mind, calling me.

Death greets me warm,
Far more welcome than anything this life has to offer."

Is this kind of thing normal or is this crazy like my mates keep telling me? I'm sure writing a poem in your sleep isnt supposed to happen, is it?

Why not? Although this sounds paradox, the pallium is far more active when asleep.

If drug-addled hazes count as dreams, lots of great art gets thought up in dreams.

I have not written a poem in a dream, but I've written many a poem about dreams I've had. I even turned one into a song.

And if you haven't noticed already, we all lack sanity here. So you're in the right place.

Being able to write in your sleep is not unusual, or crazy for that matter. The dark nature of the poem may be due to you trying to process something about yourself, or your life in general.

If text is involved in my dreams I'm usually reading rather than writing it. I'll write what I was reading in the dream when I wake up, or I'll draw what I saw.

I like being able to dream lucidly.

I sometimes suffer from an unfortunate lack of ability to control my thoughts, making lucid dreaming unpleasant for me. For instance, say I'm dreaming that I'm about to do it with some hot chick. Suddenly I'll realize I'm dreaming, and my semi-concious mind takes over. Things lose focus as I begin to wake up. I'll think "No! No! Stay asleep!" Random thoughts then start popping into my head, as if my brain is telling me "Wake up! You must wake up ten minutes before your alarm goes off!" and I'll think "No! I want to stay asleep and finish this dream!" The random thoughts are usually along the lines of my 10th grade Geometry teacher showing up or a train going by. Then the woman will say something incredibly stupid like "I like to handle poultry!" and sprout large zits all over her face and I'll get up and walk away. I'll think "No! Turn around! Remove zits now! Please!" So I'll turn around, and standing in the woman's place is Binky the Clown. Eventually I just give up trying and wake up. Then I try unhappilly to go back to sleep and finish the dream until my alarm goes off.

ADoS - follow the link, for a dream to be a “lucid dream” one needs to be able to control what happens while dreaming.

I've found that my lucid dreams only offer limited control, and when I try to take greater control, I usually wake up.

^What he said. I just stated it in a much more confusing way.
And it's ADoS, not AMDoS.

Dolphin, do you dream like this often? I was only able to this "lucid dream" thing once, and that was about three years ago. (I think...)

Also, if your able to feel like a lucid dream is real, even though you know its fake, is it possible to kill yourself somehow?

I am very often able to recognize is a being a dream and remain in the dream. I have a decent amount of control of what happens. Sometimes I see things I don't want to see, but if I ignore them or tell them to go away they do.

I have never tried to kill myself, as I don't want to test the theory. Considering that it is a sleeping mediation and one is working with their deeper consciousness I would assume it is possible to kill one's self that way.

I suppose few would want to try killing themselves when they can do anything in their dream.

EDIT: Maybe someone should start another topic about what people did in there lucid dreams?

I've been killed a few times in dreams. :P

I find, though, that sometimes you like a dream except for one certain detail. So you semi-consciously try to change that detail, but it just_won't_change. Anyone ever had that happen?
