You really don't need to bother with tool use to open doors as a Celt. You can get the Pass Portal spell fairly early in the game. And it works verrrra well! Not just for doors, but for traps put on chests and so forth. ---Zelda -------------------- Hey, where are we going? And what's with the handbasket? The message prompt you get from the box is NOT, "Oh look! You found the Selkie pelts! Pick them up!" Instead it says something like, (and I can't remember the exact text) "You see some bloody, nasty looking furs, do you want to pick them up?" Yeah. Those are the Selkie pelts. Perhaps you went through a bit of the same confusion I had since I had already been able to access this room without going through the portal. I dunno if this was a bug or not. I'm thinking it was. ---Zelda [ Tuesday, August 28, 2007 18:48: Message edited by: Zelda ] -------------------- Hey, where are we going? And what's with the handbasket? It is the character in the second slot..so not even my main one. And everything was normal when I left the Vale of the Sould. I thought at first that it might have happened when I went back the Bazaar Master for reward for the soul freeing. But when I played through in another save, I didn't get the experience boost. I do have a couple of different ideas, one involves buying experience outside the Bazaar and the other about killing stuff under the Bazaar. I'll explore those things when I get a bit more time. It's not a big deal obviously, I just wondered if anyone else experienced it. ---Zelda -------------------- Hey, where are we going? And what's with the handbasket? I'm not sure how it happened. I finished freeing the souls from the Vale of the Sould and headed back to the Faerie Bazaar to get my reward from the Bazaar Master. Somewhere along the way, one of my characters received 20,000 extra experience points. So basically what happens is that because of his high experience points, everytime we kill something he raises up a level. He's now like on level 30 while the rest of my party is about at level 15. I'm not using up the skill points, but his health is amazing. I went back to an earlier game and tried to replicate what happened, but I can't figure it out. I have no interest in a God character so I guess I'll have to go back and play a previously saved game. I'm just mentioning here because it's passing strange and I wondered if anyone else experienced this. Probably not. Story of my life. I always find these weird bugs. ---Zelda -------------------- Hey, where are we going? And what's with the handbasket? Posts: 63 | Registered: Friday, April 12 2002 07:00 |
Video Game Addiction in General | |

My feeling is that if you're not getting exercise and doing ok socially, your problem isn't video games. So focusing on the game playing misses the real problem-which is avoiding contact with other people. Labeling that as a video games addiction is a misnomer ---Zelda -------------------- Hey, where are we going? And what's with the handbasket? Posts: 63 | Registered: Friday, April 12 2002 07:00 |

I have no problem stealing from Vanarium. Been there..done it. Happily. But you've missed mentioning what I think is a rather important steal from Manius Voltinia; Sylak's Assisting Horn. Finally, an artifact from Sylak that might actually help! ---Zelda -------------------- Hey, where are we going? And what's with the handbasket? Posts: 63 | Registered: Friday, April 12 2002 07:00 |

I think I'm going to be saying this a great deal- Thanks again, Randomizer! I had tried the combat mode and still got toasted by Reptrakos. Running in with hasting actually did work. Hope I don't need that stupid dragon for anything else. Combined dexterity of 77? Not even possible. ---Zelda (Hey..it's Saturday and I'm STILL playing a computer game!!) I was wondering, how much dexterity do you need to steal it? Is it a group dexterity or an individual thing? Or is it impossible to avoid the wrath of Reptrakos and you just have to take your punishment if you want it? Questions questions questions. :) ---Zelda, who is-yep, you got it-playing Nethergate on a Friday night. -------------------- Hey, where are we going? And what's with the handbasket? Thanks for your reply. But I'm not sure I understand. Are the skulls found in the encounter outside of Galag-Trav or inside? And I shouldn't expect to find them in my in my special items list? How do I know that I have them? Sorry..have patience with the idiot.. ---Zelda -------------------- Hey, where are we going? And what's with the handbasket? Ok..I go east and find two spots where I have an encounter with a goblin. Problem is that when I deal with them, I don't have the skulls in my special items list. I have searched Galag-Trav thinking that maybe that's where they're supposed to be. I believe that I have searched this dungeon completely. So what am I missing? Nooo...because when you ask the drake if it will stop killing humans..it says no. So you HAVE to kill it. Just letting it go merely postpones the problem. If you choose this then you are not fulfilling the quest, which is about removing the threat of the drake. Am I making sense? I'm rather tired. Sorry for bad grammar and such. ---Zelda [ Wednesday, May 03, 2006 19:29: Message edited by: Zelda ] -------------------- Hey, where are we going? And what's with the handbasket? The items are incredibly easy to find. You don't have to wait until the Basalt Fortress. Just keep checking the job board in the Castle. I believe that I got this quest after giving the crystal box to Houghton. If you don't have these items...go back to where you made First Contact. ---Zelda -------------------- Hey, where are we going? And what's with the handbasket? I think the rating is pretty fair. Avernum 4 is very much above average. It's no Exile...but it's definitely fun and worth playing. Hmm..perhaps my ghostly blade is wasted on my priest who never gets close enough to any enemy to actually deal a direct blow. (At least, that's how I play it.) Hmm and more hmm. Soloing ends with a 40-45 level? Ok..I estimate that I'm about halfway through the game now. I've not been to Patrick's Tower yet. I'm just now going into Fort Emerald in order to retrieve the crystal box for Houghton. My party members are all around the 25th level. I rather think that I'll end the game with members mostly around level 50. And none of my party members have any disadvantages. In fact, each of them has at least one advantage. I'm starting to believe that you can't really mess up..it all equals out in the end somewhere. Am I wrong? ---Zelda [ Monday, April 24, 2006 18:28: Message edited by: Zelda ] -------------------- Hey, where are we going? And what's with the handbasket? It's worth the time and money. It's not as good as the Exile series. The plot is weak and the battles are tedious. But nevertheless..you get drawn into it and want to see it to the end. Spiderweb still rules when making rpgs. I agree with the person who said that if the demo interests you then the rest of the game will as well. That's what the demo is for. ---Zelda -------------------- Hey, where are we going? And what's with the handbasket? Posts: 63 | Registered: Friday, April 12 2002 07:00 |
