According to the walkthrough, there is a quest called "Ghall-Ihrno's Comfort." After I rescued Ghall-Ihrno from Almaria, I talked to him at the castle and tried all the conversation options, but I didn't get any quest. Is the quest going to become available later?

Go to the job-board in the castle.

It depends upon you party's luck on how soon you can find the items. They will all be available in the Basalt Fortress if you need to wait.

The items are incredibly easy to find. You don't have to wait until the Basalt Fortress. Just keep checking the job board in the Castle. I believe that I got this quest after giving the crystal box to Houghton. If you don't have these items...go back to where you made First Contact.

Exept my party was unlucky enough to only find normal waveblades in the BF. Not untill the giant lands I found one of the needed qualety. :(

So they "will" not, they could...

Rentar-Inhro's tomb in the Basalt Fortress has a fine waveblade. I had enough luck so the Vahanatai Myrmidons that killed Houghton dropped some.

I found this quest somewhat odd. I understand the fact that he might want more clothes for comfort, but a sword?

The Vahnatai seem like the kind of people who could easily get into into the whole martial-art-as-a-way-of-life thing. Ghall-Ihrno likely doesn't feel quite himself when he's not able to practice his combat techniques with a decent weapon.

He is in foreing lands. Most of the hosts are friendly, but not all of them. And also his own mad comrades are lurking somewhere, so he better takes precautions, especially travelling alone.

Makes sense. It just seemed odd at the time.

Particularly after the Almaria incident, it makes sense that he'd want a better sword.
