Yeah, that was my exact thought. Then clicking on the link after Andra's post, I too realized that it is, in fact, our benevolent leader.

That's my thinking too, but Drew has a point. If they find out later that the conviction was wrong, well… there'd be a hell of a price to pay, at least. Goldenking (I think that's him, anyway) says it true: the death penalty is irreversible.

What we need are some life balms or phoenix downs, or something of that nature.

True, but that sort of thing doesn't go on everything. I've had peanut butter on stuff where it truly doesn't belong (with chicken, red peppers, and sardines… yuck).

Drew: I was gonna respond, but I don't think another pointless heated debate would be a good thing here. Suffice it to say, I meant no offense to anyone.

As much as I agree that the treatment of these animals is cruel, unfair, and completely unnecessary, I'm not likely to become vegetarian because of it. I can't stand the thought of my primary source of protein for the rest of my life being soy-based.

I do find it ironic how poorly innocent animals are treated, especially when compared with, say, the lifestyles (and "deathstyles") of people on death row. You'd think that we could come up with a more humane way of dealing with meat slaughter, if the undeserving wretches in prison get it so good. (Mind you, I'm a supporter of capital punishment, and I think it's entirely too humane, and much better than some criminals deserve.)

Weird weather stuff going on in the Central Valley in CA, too. Yesterday it was in the mid-90's. Today it was much cooler, but it feels like I live in a wind tunnel. That makes bike riding difficult, to be sure. Especially with my brakes not working and all.

It will be unpleasantly hot here within a week. Save me.

You know what, Iffy? Good.

To improve: take a look at some of the higher rated scenarios, maybe at the attached files as well, and find out just what makes them rate so high.

I support it.

I'm for the idea of practiced skills improving, and perhaps leading to more advanced related skills, as they are used.

And after several hours of Avernum 3 yesterday: there's a lot to be said for a lack of GIFTS, etc. Just sayin'.

EDIT:
For a setting: a genuine futuristic, perhaps spacefaring game would be cool (although not necessarily fluid with my prior suggestion).

I think you mean the successor, Wishsong. I'm a big fan of the series, myself (it's kind of what kicked me off into the fantasy genre of books). I've found a lot of people don't like them much, though. But Elfstones, I think, is one of the best in the series.

ADoS: Someone can be Christian without trying to impose ideals on other people. For instance, the lifestyle isn't something that I would personally follow, and it isn't even something that I really understand. But in this day and age (especially in the US, a country defined by freedom), acceptance of other people's ways of life is somewhat necessary.

Any good guides to character creation/party formation?

Not sure about the character creation guides. I'd check the Spiderweb Site Listing section on Jewels' TrueSite for Blades page. It's got a lot of useful stuff on it.

Although I seldom use these skills, using my own party description, I'd throw some archery or potion making points on the rogue/fighter or the regular fighter, because they're most likely to have "extra" skill points. Nature and Arcane Lore can be split between the party. Usually my priest/mage has the highest Arcane Lore level.

First off, welcome to Spiderweb, leave your sanity at the door.

It may take a bit of getting used to, but it's really not that difficult. I've found that a party consisting of a fighter/priest, a priest/mage, a rogue/fighter, and a regular fighter is pretty effective. Bear in mind that normally I don't use archers, potions, or first aid.

Okay, here's me being thoughtful, with my reading glasses and whatnot. I'm also in need of a haircut.
