That's fine, but it's Emperor Tullegolar who is having trouble getting the page to load.

Unfortunately, you don't have to be all that smart to use a computer anymore.

EDIT: I consider riding a bike in the street acceptable, so long as said bike is currently being used for transportation.

Thankfully, my school hasn't succumbed to this yet. I like to think it's because they have their head in the right place, but more likely, they just can't afford it.

Actually, they're from FIVE different people. I guess I need to re-vamp some dialogue. Thanks, guys.

I heard about that, and these so-called 'safety precautions' are getting out of hand. Seriously, I understand the need to keep harmful accidents to a minimum. However, soon they'll just have kids sit outside for thirty minutes, just because there's no risk of kids getting hurt (Which, by the way, isn't true. Believe me, I know. ;) ). Tag, Dodgeball, and all of those fun activities are useful because they burn off excess energy that kids build up during class. They even would help fight the obesity problem we face today. So why ban them? Just make sure that these types of games are supervised, and you'll be fine.

I meant intentionally impersonating someone.

That said, I will now refer to these two people as Mercenary -X- and Arrival -X-, or as X5360 and X7203.

EDIT: It doesn't appear so. They registered about a year apart.

Actually, you only have rights to your exact screen name. Unless someone's impersonating you.

I don't have any problems accessing it... Are you running any sort of new firewall that prevents you from loading it?

All right, here is exactly why I'm trying to get advice. I want to have different personalities stand out, in a way that you don't even have to see their name to know it's that person. Like certain speech patterns, and so forth. I've included some examples of dialogue that I've written so far. I want you to see if you can figure out how many different people said the following:

(Note: I removed any name or gender references, and replaced them with an [X].)

(1.) "I don't think so..." [X] mutters a small incantation, and a glowing blue cabinet appears in the corner. [X] rifles through the papers, checks them again, then apologizes, "No, nothing right now..."
[X] mutters the incantation again, and the cabinet disappears.

(2.) "No. Buy something. Leave." [X] mutters something that sounds obscene.

(3.) "So you are the ones that Alkan summoned, and it's about time, too. Let me start by giving you a little background."

(4.) "Some can. They spit toxins that are hazarous to your health, and make you ill. Some spit globs of corrosive acid, which is even worse."

(5.) "Unfortunately, no. I came here recently from Valorim, so I don't know much about the monsters and stuff. They make excellent wands, though."

(6.) [X] shakes [X] head sadly. "A needless waste. Thank you for bringing me tidings of his demise. I will sleep easier at night knowing he is in a better place."

(7.) [X] struggles with this for a while. "I...I...Welcome to my store. I have magical jewelry just for you."

How many different people do you think said these phrases?

I'm starting Avernum 2 soon, and I could use some party creation tips in The Avernum Trilogy

Try a three person party. A Nephil warrior/archer, with high defense, a mage, and a priest. Then battle most of the monsters in the first part of the game. Then, when the apparition appears in Formello, look around and recruit Becca into your party. She will be your pole-arm warrior, and also will have far more experience and abilities then anyone else in your party. (Assuming you aren't cheating)

I think Jeff has released the final version of BoA. The chances of him updating it again are lower then you'd probably ever want to think about, let alone hear.

Libertarians not only believe the free market will solve everything, they believe it has solved everything. His argument that some people just basically deserve less money is an acknowledgement and justification of pay discrepancies by race.

I don't know what they call that where you're from, but 'racism' fits it pretty well, don't you think?

Just because the justification is there doesn't make him a racist. Do I agree with his philosophy? No! But he wasn't referring to a single race. He was referring to human-kind as a whole. Basically, Tullegolar's philosophy is a glorified version of 'survival of the fittest.' The way he would run a country reflects on that. Also, I said this in another forum, and I'll say it again, no form of government is flawless. No matter which government you look at, they all have their pros and cons. So is it really fair to come after a single person for what his idea of government would be?

Also, justification is a very tricky thing. Mainly because it has more to do with how you think. By all rights and purposes, someone who has just been robbed may feel 'justified' in retaliating against the assailant. But then, maybe they won't. Also, just because someone feels justified to do something doesn't mean they will do it. If everyone acted just because the felt said action was 'justified', the world would be a very different place, and not in a good way. Also, the term 'justified' varies from person to person. If the same event happened to two different people, one might feel justified into taking action, and one might not.

Finally, Tullegolar has, to my knowledge, never spoken out against any race. He may be a racist, but the fact is that we don't know. It would be morally wrong to assume something of him when we don't have any basis in fact that it's true.

Truly, justification is only what you perceive it to be. Just like you perceived Tullegolar to be a racist, and just like how I felt justified in making this post.

That sounds ominous. I wonder what would happen that would prevent -X- from being in your story...

I just realized this. -X- has been here a year, it's just that he lost both his log-in name and password. Wouldn't it be feasible to say that, in the story, he's just been in a coma for a while? Just a thought.
