Why do people view modship as a good thing? There's added responsibility, people are more critical of your actions, and there's no pay. Better stop then. Heaven help us the day post count celebration topics get locked. -------------------- I bought my brother some gift-wrap for Christmas. You can find the link for Crimson Editor (and EditPad Lite) at SpidWeb's Scenario Workshop. Like Nioca, I use PN2. I should look at creating an AvernumScript .scheme file for it one day... the lack of docs makes it difficult. -------------------- George is a radio announcer, and when he walks under a bridge you can't hear him talk. - Steven Wright Posts: 1509 | Registered: Tuesday, January 10 2006 08:00 |

Alec's skipping ahead (and I'm guessing that, for the most part, 'retarded' is a hyperbole). The reasoning he's arguing against goes like this: i) Libertarianism is correct. ii) Because libertarianism is correct, black people have as much opportunity as white people. iii) Yet black people are not as wealthy as white people. iv) Therefore, there must be some factor unique to black people that stops them from prospering as much as white people. Most would say it's the vicious circle of poverty that is the root of this, those from the right as well as the left. But extreme libertarianism states that the government must not interfere. Extreme libertarianism not only states that the market will do its work, it also states that the market already has done its work. Once you remove the possibility of blaming the game, the only thing left to do is blame the players. -------------------- There's some entertainment value in watching people juggle nitroglycerin. - Larry Wall [ Thursday, March 29, 2007 10:56: Message edited by: Dintiradan ] Posts: 1509 | Registered: Tuesday, January 10 2006 08:00 |

State 11 is missing an opening parentheses. If you don't already have one, get a text editor that does syntax highlighting (matching braces with end braces, etc.) I notice that in START_STATE, you have your conditionals like this: quote:I wrap an extra pair of parentheses around my conditionals, like this: quote:I can't remember if that's necessary in AvernumScript. And since I'm not on my home computer, I can't check the docs to see if there's something else wrong with your code. Hope this helps. -------------------- Prepare to be underwhelmed. - Roy (OotS #130) [ Monday, March 26, 2007 09:28: Message edited by: Dintiradan ] Posts: 1509 | Registered: Tuesday, January 10 2006 08:00 |

I've never played Caylus, but I have played Carcassonne and Settlers. I don't think the games are appealing because of their atmosphere, or at least not completely. People like to play the games because the gameplay is different from the North American paradigm. They're quick games that get you right into the action. And as for the emphasis on building and growth: ever play Monopoly? ;) Even though most people don't think in business terms when they play the game now, I'm sure people did when it first came out. -------------------- Doing a little work around the house.
