This is a sad, sad, bump for me. But I'm beginning to think that I won't be able to finish Shades of Grey in time for the contest. In fact, it's pretty likely. And now, my excuses, or reasons why I'm a pansy:

-I need to find a job for this summer, something for which I'm rapidly running out of time.
-I've made this scenario too complex to finish it with a reasonable testing period left over.
-My spring breaks are never as peaceful as I want them to be, this one being no exception.
-I actually have a fair amount of coursework that's going to be due rather soon.

So, in the end, I'm sorry for whatever effect this has on the contest. But to be perfectly honest, I kinda have to put reality as a higher priority right now. That, and I'm just stressed to the point of my brain exploding out my ears.

Pending a miracle, I fold.

I think I'll also have to fold as well. I could still probably get it done within the deadline, but the scenario as a whole would suffer greatly in terms of quality simply because of the vast amounts of shortcuts I would have to take. So Veritas is not likely to be competing.

I tried to think of something witty to put here.

Needless to say, I failed.

Well, I'm sorry to hear this. Hopefully they'll be done at least for the 9th contest.

Anyway, here's the deal regarding the contest, with the supposed shortage of entries:

If I have at least four entries, we start the contest and go with what we have.

If we have less than four, but someone is close enough to finishing that we will have four, I'll make an extension to the deadline - but that will be it. If there's still not enough by the second deadline, it's cancelled.

If we're not even close to a decent amount of entries by the deadline, we'll have to cancel it. Sorry.

The course of action will be announced after the deadline.

If someone would like to argue with this, go ahead. But the bottom line is, don't give up because of a possible entry shortage. If you submit, the better chance the contest has of happening.

Hmmm. Looks like Lazarus and Nik scared them off.

I think it was Amnesia that scared them off. Why don't we just crown Slack the winner and get it over with?

*sees no submissions from Slack*

Sorry, can't crown him winner if he didn't even try. :P

Bah, I was going to go with a "cut him some Slack" pun, but Thuryl has made it so that I would appear a cheap imitator if I were to attempt to be punny now.

That one person is me. Ideally, by the deadline, I'll be ready for a brief testing phase, if I'm not already into it.

So, if nobody objects and those conditions are met... I'm fine with an extension. I feel a little bad about it, though.

I have a port of a BoE scenario that I will have ready for the deadline. It wasn't originally for this, but I can enter it to make up numbers, if people are okay with that...

As the deadline is winding down, I'll say this - to enter, send an email to the address in the original post, either a file with the zipped scenarios (both MAC and PC), or send a link to a download location. As for extending the deadline...we'll see where we're at, but do submit before 4/1 if you can.

I'm happy to say I don't think the contest will be cancelled at this point...

Well I entered Frostbite. How many of you lazy bums beat me to it? (Hopefully a lot, for your sakes. Else we'll have some angry people when they wake from their drug induced sleep......)

TV has been too, and I'm considering entering my newest thing as well. Although it would be rather precocious...

Well, Frostbite and TV are the only entries I have right now. Still, there's three more days...

You may want to start running now.

For the record, I have three submissions so far.

We currently have six potential entries. Two were made in one day each, one was made by Slack, and another can be beaten in under four minutes.

To keep this from being a two-horse race, I'd like to see the deadline pushed back two weeks. We need judges, and we need some extra scenarios even more. Unless somebody objects, I think Bain should start a judging topic here at spiderweb, and give some extra time to anybody who's near finishing.

I know Ephesos is close, but I'd like to know who else might have an entry. Anybody??

Um, I have a judging topic started already that's a month old. I already have all the judges I need.

As for extending the deadline, we'll see. I don't like the idea of extending the deadline if only one scenario is going to be finished in the extension, but we'll see...

EDIT: Judging topic

Two. I have a scenario which is almost finished. It'd definitely be done within a two-week period. But there's no way I'll be able to finish it before the current deadline seeing as it's 11:49 PM here.
