Cool, Random. Now I don't have to type them all up myself. I should have a complete list written here, and I'll mention any I have if you missed them. ...later. -S- [ Saturday, November 25, 2006 23:07: Message edited by: Servile Synergy ] -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |

It seems this game would be a little more fun if you got the fifth tier creations a bit sooner and/or the game went a bit longer after you do, with some truly nasty fights they are necessary for. Drakons, Ur-Drakons, and Eyebeasts are fantastically fun and satisfying to employ, but you only get to use them for a short while at the end. Ah well, I guess the game can't go on forever. Meanwhile, by experience,if not by math, and as I've suggested elsewhere already, I find that making at least one Cryoa as soon as you can in the game (which is quite soon) and keeping it till nearly the end of the game is very effective and efficient. Mine was doing like 85 damage a shot with its ice breath, but I noticed that it started not hitting very reliably somewhere in Chapter Five, and I finally converted it into a drayk or drakon. I'm not sure if investing some dexterity into it would have fixed that issue, but I didn't try. Maybe you'll check into that in your current game, Slarty. Cryoas rock. I like them better than anything else except Kyshaaks, Wingbolts, and fifth tier critters. -S- -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |

Oh yeah, the hint book I've never looked at yet, because I keep forgetting about it. All I missed was killing the drakon then. I cleaned out the workshop. So far, it's the one part of the game I really don't like. I'm just getting into Chapter Five now, and my Servile is at level 40! I seem to never get more than 25 points to kill anything, and often I get no points for things. We'll see what level he makes it to when all is said and done. -S- -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |

Dinitia patrols up and down the west side of Shardfield, and her camp with lockbox is in the SW corner of the zone. Just wait anywhere on the west side for her to come walking by. -S- EDIT: I can't believe how bass-ackwardly I wrote this the first time. If I remember correctly, the lever is nearly hidden on the north end of the building where it is virtually invisible behind the wall due to perspective. Scan around it with your cursor till you light it up. -S- [ Saturday, November 25, 2006 20:00: Message edited by: Servile Synergy ] -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |

Hmm, so it's just a painfully long fight for survival against a foe with a gazillion hitpoints and a few friends coming to the party. It doesn't sound like I missed much, unless the Drakon gives a lot of XP or drops something tasty...which I doubt. Has anyone verified what killing the pylons and disarming the one crystal do? Does it minimize summons from the vats or something? -S- [ Saturday, November 25, 2006 17:30: Message edited by: Servile Synergy ] -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |

Hmm, here's an exploit not unlike the one I drew to Jeff's attention with the battle with the Titan where you could corner it and keep it from breathing fire in Drakon form. This time, not being able to figure out how to successfully kill the insanely hugely hit-pointed Matala Golem in her workshop below the Western Morass, I used two drayks and my servile to trap it in the corner of it's original starting pad. After dealing it a little damage, the golem wants to run to the room where the rotghroths are generated. But if trapped, it just keeps hasting itself and not hitting or using its aura of flames attack. It took a tediously long time for me to hammer at it until it died, but it never was able to leave or attack the whole time. What I am wondering is how do you normally do this level? I sent my Servile through the whole lab and even had him destroy the three regenerating pylons, but it didn't seem to help anything. The Golem was still very tough and the rotghroths kept flying out of the vats faster than my Servile and a pet or two could cope with. How's this zone done properly? Also, can you do anything with that Drakon down there? -S- [ Saturday, November 25, 2006 08:17: Message edited by: Servile Synergy ] -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |

In the Burwood Road zone where Yngrid has her lab in the middle, there is one rebel trapped behind one mine. You can save him if your Leadership is high enough. There are four or so refugees stuck in the NE corner of this zone too, who flee to safety when you tell them the mines are safe now. -S- -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |

It doesn't hurt, but there are many encounters where you will no longer have dialog options except to start fighting after you have used seven (?) canisters. I only played one game where I used very few canisters and it wasn't nearly as fun, but it's a good challenge. I pretty much always want to fight the fightable anyway: more XP and loot. I'm usually tough enough to handle it. What happens to you in the end story of the game is different depending on how many canisters you used. -S- -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |

Terrific list, Slarty. I'm very glad to see this, because I've been very curious what is really affecting what, and how much. I didn't realize how much innocuous conversation also affects your sum (like you said, there is not always an indicator message when your reputation is affected.) I'm trying to wrap my head around this, because you say both Rebels and Shapers reference this same sum. It seems like I'm able to get the majority of rewards in this game. I am playing slightly pro-Shaper, but now that I am in Burwood, I am shifting toward Pro-Rebel. I helped Eliza, Shaftoe, and Moseh, then killed the first two. I am helping the five Infiltrator Shapers in Burwood, but then killing them. This means a plus two and a minus three, for a net of minus one (slight loss of favor with the shapers overall.) My number must be 100-110, because it never goes too far in one direction with all the quests I do for both sides. So, what I can't understand is why my reputation is good enough with both to get most rewards. I lost some rewards from Ilya Safehouse due to betraying the caravan and giving the Heart of the Kiln to Mouawad. After that, I've been heading back into more favor with the rebels. It seems like I shouldn't be able to get so many rewards from each side, if I'm hovering in the middle at around 100. Does this really work as you've reported? I will play another game and do the math with each choice and see where my numbers are at and how it seems to work out. The idea to me is to maximize rewards, quests, experience, and loot from both sides till late in the game. It is also fun to play Truly Loyal to one side or the other, where my PC acts according to conscience and conviction consistently the whole game through. But the overall payoff seems less. -S- EDIT: Question: I am now playing double-crosser in Burwood, helping the Infiltrators but ultimately killing them and their creations. What I don't know is if I arrive in Poryphra to get my reward for the quest of helping the five, will it matter if I have already killed some of them after finishing the helping part? I'm guessing NO, but I might not be able to kill them all actually. I could be in for a rude awakening too. This seems like a little exploit loophole in the game. I don't like it that your reputation is wholly counted and known by both sides for everything you do in secret. It also seems silly that I can help/kill Infiltrators and still collect reward (so I assume) when they have magically known (at least by reputation) everything else I have done, but seem to have not noticed that I killed the people I helped. Thanks Randomizer. I'll add yours in as I encounter them, but will make sure I check them as I go. I haven't been listing some of the wimpy stuff like some of the cloaks because they're pretty worthless. There are so many Coated Cloaks, etc. around, and they just aren't worth listing. The Fyoraskin Cloak is easily the best overall till the third chapter, in my opinion. If someone else wants to dutifully list the cloak locations, I'll integrate them into the list, however. Keep in mind that I am making this list as I play my current game, so it's not done. I'm in Burwood Province right now, just got the Infiltrator Charm from Yngrid. I don't remember the Southern Sentinel dropping a Reaper Baton, but that may have been changed since last time I was there, or I may not be remembering. -S- [ Friday, November 24, 2006 22:17: Message edited by: Servile Synergy ] -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |

I am verifying and updating actual statistics for these items as I play my current game. I am in chapter 5 at present. Feel free to help now or wait till I'm done. It won't be long now. I also asked Jeff if it was intentional to have only one Ur-Drakon Skin in the game which effectively means you can only make one of three items and waste some precious ingredients in not being able to make even one of the other two. Namely, I'd love to have Shapemaster Boots AND the Girdle of Succor. -S- [ Sunday, November 26, 2006 04:20: Message edited by: Servile Synergy ] -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |

The earlier betas didn't have enough money or living tools to be had, so Jeff bumped both up. Now I think there are too many living tools, and about the right amount or a bit more than needed for money, especially if you sell off things you aren't going to use, including the older magical gear that has been replaced by something better. Depending on which class I play, I've wound up with up to $20K gold in excess at some point in the game, including the end once. As a Mental Servile (heh) in my present game, I had about 15K gold going into chapter three, and promptly spent it all in the rebel and shaper camps on magic and shaping. If you are a class that does very little with magic, you will have a lot more money for shaping and other stuff. I store my anvil goods at the mouth of Sandros mine for the first half of the game, and all other goods I store at the mouth of Southforge, then another friendly town later in the game. I almost never use wands and find my attack crystals no longer effective long before I use them up, so wind up selling a few dozen ice crystals or spray crystals at some point into the game. There is no anvil use for shaped blades or shaped shields, nor puresteel weapons and armor. All I buy is living tools, some essence pods (of which I usually have many on hand,) some rare anvil ingredients, and the Runed Amethyst from Uchitelle so I can acidify my steel sword as soon as possible. I never make wands, attack crystals, or rings, except maybe a madness gem or two near the end of the game. This means there are many anvil ingredients I never need and just sell as I get them, like saltweed, wiry moss, etc. I have been making lists of where special items and ingredients are found and will post them. Have look at my anvil recipes list elsewhere here if you want to know what you will ultimately want to have on hand or not for making things. Your first time through, it's probably more fun to find out as you go though. I make my lists to be useful for replaying the game for optimization. -S- [ Friday, November 24, 2006 17:54: Message edited by: Servile Synergy ] -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |

I just did Purity B on Torment with a melee/mental magic Servile using lots of daze and whack. For anyone not tough or mental enough to do this, those nasty acidy roamers need to be lured out of the second chamber one or two at a time, and get little bits of the huge pack of critters in the first room to follow you around a corner and dispatch in manageable lots. You can save living tools by not turning off any vats or the B heating pads which you don't need to kill. -S- -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |

Sure, I get the sense only certain enemies have the potential to be carrying something (not all Fyoras or Thads,) but they do not drop the tunic or cloak every time like a true carried item. Otherwise it would be consistent and predictable where to get the cloak or tunic. So...what are you saying about how Luck is involved with dropping the two items I was describing? -S- -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |

On Luck in G4... If anyone has other Luck-revelant info, please contribute. If you have around 5 Luck (by my experience) when you first start poking around in the Forsaken Lands, you will have a decent chance of scoring one or both of these items upon certain kills: Thadskin Tunic (kill a Thad) +10% armor/+2 strength/+1 dexterity Fyoraskin Cloak (kill a Fyora) +5% armor/+5% fire resistance Both of these are great early armor, and the cloak is the best you will have until Chapter 3. It seems like the game only gears you to get one of these by Luck, though you can get one of these cloaks off a fyora in Dillame Fields eventually. Also, with higher luck, fyoras seem a bit more likely to drop a Fyora Scale (same for Drayks, etc.) Maybe Slartucker will generate some actual statistics on what Luck does in this game. I try to have mine at 7-8 by the end of Chapter 2. There is a +1 Luck Charm available early on (Lucky Dice), a boon of +1 to Luck by the mayor of Dillame if you have Leadership of 6 and flatter him, and late in the game, at least one more +1 Luck source...a canister in a bonus level, I believe. Clover Boots add +3 Luck. -S- [ Monday, November 27, 2006 23:25: Message edited by: Servile Synergy ] -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |

F'nor...it sounds like you are at the 31st Regiment Camp in Dillame Fields? That camp is good for wiping out only, or at least sneaking in to the lower left corner for a tasty canister. You need to go way back near the beginning where Drakefyre pointed out...the first Shaper Camp you ever encoutered. -S- -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |

This is fun. I've been waiting to talk about this game for months. And it is so much more fun to replay than A4 was. I was wondering about what to attempt with Moseh, because the word was that killing Moseh after repairing him seems impossible. Has anyone succeeded in doing so? I'd love to do the bunkers all pro-Shaper initially, and then go back and kill them all for the rebels, heh. I had forgotten about the Guardian Stone reward from the Shapers. I am constructing a list of rewards for tasks. Maybe I'll get it going so others can contribute to it. I also have lists of all canister locations, and most significant item locations. They are written now, rather than typed though. Also got a list of charms going too. I was able to wind up with three Mental Focus Charms in one game by making two on the forge and finding one other. -S- -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |

I might have missed this every game somehow. Who exactly sells or trains you in Spellcraft early on and under what circumstances? The mayor in Dillame will boost your Luck by +1 if your Leadership is 6 and you flatter him. Shaper Danell in the Fen Gamma camp boosts your Spellcraft by +1 if you ask him for help with your corruption (I assume your Leadership needs to be a certain level to get the dialog option.) Mine was at 7. Anyone able to name some of the other "blessing" boosts or skill trainers? They seemed few and far between, but I remember one or two other boosts at least, and Moseh used to steal one Intelligence when you fight him, but that was when he was surrounded by bound serviles. Does that still happen in the pro-rebel path? It doesn't if you first did the tasks for Shaftoe and Eliza as if you planned to help repair Moseh. -S- EDIT: There is a Spellcraft +1 canister in the NW area of the Dillame Fields (behind the shaper encampment.) I've been as far as the field projectors in the south. How much more and what is in beyond there? I was going to go check it out and clean it out later in this game myself, since I never remembered to do it before. I'm also tempted to see how far I can go clearing out the shaper camp in the west swamp in Burwood Province. Meanwhile, as a Servile who travels mostly solo, but who can now summon one Kyshakk or some Drayks to his aid, I just figured out a right balance of playing both sides to get into the Gamma Shaper camp in the Fens. I gave the Heart of the Kiln to Mouawad in Rivergate Keep to get the coveted Skein of Wisdom (+1 Intelligence) but killed Moseh to appease the Rebels, since I was already doing more for the Shapers, having turned in the rebel caravan. This gave me access to both camps and both magic trainers...the Shapers are slightly expensive to me and the Rebels are expensive at this point...not bad. It gives me both Drayks and Kyshakks early in Chapter 3. I was able to take out the pesky slowing Soulreaper Twins in the Sandros Mine with my Servile and one Kyshakk. When I can bump up Intelligence to get a Drayk and Kyshakk, I'll take on the golem in the mine. The golem always seems harder than the Forgotten One to me. My Servile just got Strong Daze and Dominate. Nice, except Dominate isn't working on summoned foes too well (not on Ur-Glaaks or the guardian golems that Shaftoe summons...well, the very first time I charmed it, but never again after that first time. I'm at level 30 here 3/5 through the game. I need more Intelligence and Mental Magic at this point. I have insane strength and infiltrator capabilities due to all my bonus gear. What are others playing as right now and how is it going? -S- -------------------- A4 Items • A4 Singleton • G4 Items • G4 Forging • G4 Infiltrator • NR Items • The Lonely Celt Posts: 2009 | Registered: Monday, September 12 2005 07:00 |
