you're reading it wrong.

you need the item on the top *and* bottom, so not only do you need blood poison, you also need a deep focus orb.

to get the shroud, you need the deep focus orb and crystalline fibers, plus perfected plate (same way as making a perfected shield, except you need a shaped breastplate instead of a shaped shield, naturally).

and so on.

hope that helps :D

i'm just going to check something here...

you say you're still in the demo area?

are you *sure* you have a drakon scale, and not (for example) a fyora scale? because those are completely different items, just so you know.

maybe i'm wrong, but i for one don't remember being able to get a perfect drakon scale that early in the game...

yeah, i'm in the "both sides are equally evil" camp.

frankly, the loyalists are in favor of slavery (of serviles, for example) and being in charge of everything. the rebels believe in filling areas with rogue creations to attack all the civilians in an area, drive them off their property, destroy their farms, etc. and quite frankly, it is also quite clear (to me, at least) that all the drakons really care about is becoming more powerful, and becoming the new equivalent to the shapers, IMO.

IOW, neither side really has any morals whatsoever, and will basically do whatever it takes to get what they want, generally without regard to the people who get in their way.

spray crystal comes from wiry moss + gemstone.

you need:

stick + gemstone + perfect drakon scale + demon bile

what do you mean by all the ingredients?

like, you got the ingredients needed off of a walkthrough, or what?

anyways, sometimes it seems you need to combine parts of it separately... i never bothered making wands, so i don't know if you do for wands.

in any event, if you're following the game's "recipes" you may have to read between the lines a little bit... often they aren't terribly specific...

i expect they're talking about a script editor or trainer.

dunno about editing how much money you can have, but i know of one that just never lets your amount of money decrease. does that help?

as far as getting ur-drakons, i haven't really looked at them (just read a couple of threads on specific ones) so i don't know if there's an editor for that. probably, though... you just have to find the code that defines your character, and change it in the appropriate place. just save the file you change before you change it, of course.

shortage of living tools in Geneforge Series

also, if you happen to not be a guardian, you can get a lot of use out of the unlock spell (naturally it works best when combined with a high mechanics). mind you, you don't get XP for using unlock, though...

anyways, using unlock regularly, and not going crazy with living tools (if something needed 10 tools, i usually just waited... most of the time, you can get in later with a key, or just when you have higher skill) i ended up with something like 60 or 70 extra living tools, and i didn't buy any of them (although i did shamelessly steal as many as i could get my hands on). i can't really say i ever felt that i had a major shortage of them.

if you stand in the right place (ie probably not inside the room) the pylons cannot all attack you.

your basic problem is no range. against stuff like pylons and turrets, you want ranged attacks, and plenty of them... so, try to distract the sustained beta (or whatever) with yourself and your own beta, and lure it outside. meanwhile, pick off the pylons one at a time (even easier if you have hasted greta).

Question about battle alphas & betas in Geneforge Series
Warrior

i suspect someone has probably commented on this before. they just really aren't all that great IMO either...

mind you, most of the battle creations just don't seem to be that great to me, generally speaking. oh, they have their uses... you know, like instant cannon fodder, for example. except they frequently aren't even all that great at taking a beating even.

anyways, i would say they need to be allowed to use armor or something... that would make them worthwhile, i think. especially if they could have weapons too.

locked out in inner tunnels (first isle) in Geneforge Series
Warrior

i presume you mean the inner mines... and if so, i must be missing something... because as far as i can tell, you don't need a key to exit the level, you only need a key if you want to open all the doors and go through the extra parts (which i don't recall being anything spectacular, except the storage room).

anyways, if you just want to leave the zone, and it won't ruin your game to just disappear from it, i believe the exitzone cheat should get you out. never used it myself, but my understanding is that it clears the zone as well as bringing you to the map screen...

same way as was just suggested... lure them out one at a time.

of course, i had a rather easy time of it 'cause the game had a brain fart... two of the golems stood there watching, 2 of them attacked with a negative status effect every 3 rounds or so, and the last one fired bolts of energy (dealing magic damage to my vlish... hurray for resistance!). meanwhile, i was around the corner and safe from pummelling.

but the principal remains the same... if you can fight them one (or two) at a time, you should have a much easier time of it...

well, get your healing magic up. then start casting augmentation on all of your creations before the battle begins.

then, get your blessing magic up. you need mass energize.

third, get your blessing magic up higher, if you can, for other blessing spells that last until you leave that screen.

fourth, getting a glaahk or three might be worth it... depends on how much they stun the golems. if you can get them so stunned that they get no turn, that will obviously make things easier for you. particularly if you combine that with vlish to slow them as well.

i have found vlish, gazers, and roamers to be fairly handy. naturally, if i could have an army of all one thing, it would be the gazers, but generally speaking, for the cost at least, vlish and roamers seemed really impressive to me...

simple question about the ur-drakon in Geneforge Series
Warrior
Member # 6222

from what i've seen fighting them, they are higher level, and can hit i would say 5 or so targets with their attack.

i can't say they seemed to deal very much damage though. i was pretty disappointed in them. compared to rotghroth and gazers, drakons were pretty weak stuff, and the upgrades were about the same IMO, based on fighting them. in fact, overall, i'd much rather have the gazer out of any of the top creations, and that includes eyebeasts as well.

well, you probably shouldn't have killed the mind (it opens up the anvil area plus one or two other minor areas in the area by clearing out rubble).

incidentally, have you tried just walking up to the door to get it to open? i can't remember for sure, but i think it opened for me without me realising i could open it =P

anyways, the area has a fairly powerful golem, an artifact component, a fairly nice charm, and a golden crystal.

A few Questions in Geneforge Series

Alwan's ok (mainly because of the fact that he's free, and you get to add in all those stat upgrades for free). that being said, he's also still a melee-only character. personally, i prefer ranged attacks over melee by a long shot, but that's just me i guess.

anyways, you are guaranteed to lose at least one or the other. if you are pro-shaper, then you can only add Alwan. if you add him in early on, he should be very effective. if you add him later on, he will not be terribly useful though, i'm afraid.

2) tier 3 can be purchased (at least to some extent ) in dhonal's keep if you are pro-shaper. not sure for pto-rebels. specifically, i know you can learn create glaahk. i think there's also a canister of drayk come to think of it, but i never bothered to get it (since i didn't plan on creating any drayks, why bother?)

in fact, i think you might even be able to purchase battle alpha before then (if you are a shaper)
