By the looks of things there were only a maxium of two hours before nightfall. In the distance Terril could just make out the barricade of Selger. Rey had pretty much recovered from his smoke inhalation and was walking along fine now; in addition, they had found three other adventurers wandering through the forest, though one died, being stupid enough to walk over the bridge without checking for traps. The forest was clearing ahead into farmland. Burnt and scorched farmland, but farmland nonetheless. What took the adventurers attention most was the smoke coming from Selger. "Some of the others, or demons?" piped up, one of the others. "Might be some overconfident survivors, but I'm not holding my breath for it to be good." replied Terril. Closing on on the barricade, they could quite clearly see that all was not well here; the gate had been torn off its' mountings and there were holes and scorch marks all across the wall. Preparing for a fight they drew their weapons as they entered the town. It was quite clear that no sane person would start a fire in such an undefendable place. There were a few stone buildings that had obviously taken a knock. Though quite a few were still standing. Everything else had probably been wooden and burnt to the ground. Everyone expected a horde of demons to come rushing at them any moment. Maybe some of the other adventurers to greet them. The one thing they didn't expect walked out between the buildings - a man they didn't recognise, with five mugs of ale... OOC: Not sure what next. Zephyr? Or even Tommy and MSW if you turn up here? EDIT: It's changed. Loses a little dramaticism, but what the hey. Also these things were not naturally occuring, being by-products of some process or something (don't ask me what, I don't know anything about biology). Added to the fact that chemicals in meat, naturally decrease hunger and that I like meat product; I'll stick with my present diet. Half of them split off to go after the armoured warrior. Seizing the oppotunity, Terril, keeping well away from the blazing forest, crept up behind the final demon, who was trying to bring some order to the imps. Thrusting Demonslayer up into the body of the foul fiend, it began to let out a cry and just died. Not bothering to let himself be overrun by the sheer numbers, Terril started hacking and slashing into remaining creatures, killing five before they realised what was going on. Quickly beheading another, he parried an axe to his left and kicked out, sending the imp sprawling. Quickly finishing off the remaining imps, he wiped his blades clean. He now had two options: to trave to the temple or south to Selger, and maybe on to that portal that Rey had mentioned. I should probably go to the temple, or at least try to find the others. I don't think anyone has been this way. But that fire is becoming impenetrable. Terril had been moving through the woods for some time now, mostly avoiding the demons and ambushing ones that go astray. He had managed to lose his direction and had stumbled upon a wide river. Far too wide to cross. Downriver, about three hundred metres from where he was standing, was a bridge that was at least wide enough for three chariots to travel side by side. An easy way across the river. Unfortunately, the demons had obviously thought the same. Standing at the end of the near side were three large demons and another two dozen hordling and imp types. One of the demons was carrying a piece of paper of some variety. It started to walk towards the forest edge with the hordlings in tow. What the heck are they doing? The demon had stopped a short distance away from the tree-line, opened up the scroll and holding it with one hand, started to read it. The other hand, held high, suddenly had a ball of fire appear in it. Dropping the scroll, the demon threw the fireball towards the forest... Uh-oh, that's going to be big... In addition, you can't get the level 5 spells until Sharimik Milu. Let alone Shockwave (though Major Blessing/Summoning is possible if you know what to do). It's definitely worth the cash to register. For a start you get to finish the game. :D But seriously, there are many, many games out on the market which not only cost more, but aren't as good or long or playable as one made by Spiderweb. Everything seemed to have a clarity of sorts about it. In a bare few hours his wounds had healed - not even a scar remained. He still didn't know what that thing was, or what had happened after he fell over. What happened to me? He pushed it out of his mind, it didn't matter right now. He was looking for something. He wasn't sure what it was, he just knew it was here in the bunker. Somewhere. There. He started to dig at the rubble. It took him almost an hour to dig it out. But it still gleamed, even after being buried, even in the pre-dawn it... glowed. Demonslayer. Terril strode out into the dawn, the sword firmly grasped in his hand. What now? Selger? The temple? Far in the distance he thought he could see some demons moving through the forest. It's a start OOC: He's heading roughly ESE. Roughly towards the last bridge over the big river that Selger is next to. Two things: one, MSW, how about a map update so we know where everyone is, it's starting to get a little fragmented. Two, considering the size of the valley and potential of the story, it is probably concluding a little too quickly. In addition, anyone heading for the Stone will be there before the end of the day, if the portal is to be at the underground cavern enterance (assumption I know, but judging from the ICs correct) at the far south of the valley, it would take about three days hard march, more if fighting, from the present position. With the memory of that thing fresh in his mind he jumped to his feet, quickly glancing around, he saw no trace of the creature. He felt... confused. He found that he had his sword in his hand, but he couldn't remember drawing it. Everything just seemed hazy. Checking himself for injuries, he found that he had acquired several large scratches and a claw mark down his back, not a deep one, but enough to cause discomfort. The pain wasn't the first of his worries though; the claw must have been huge for the marks to be so far apart. And it might come back. Why am I alive? Why didn't it kill me? What was it? Taking a look around one last time, he set off towards - well, he was pretty sure it was that way - the bunker. Keeping a careful eye on the shadows. On the dark...
