Hint book - worth buying? in Geneforge Series

Been playing GF3 a lot lately and have managed to work out some of the quests on my own. Obviously there's plenty of potential here for replayability, so I was wondering if the hint book is worth buying to peruse through after finishing the game to catch all the stuff I missed?

I've never opted for a hint book with any of the Spidweb games. Are they complete walkthrough guides? Or do they only give you vague clues for certain problem areas? I appreciate any insight! :)

Jeff clearly states that the graphics are kept simple mainly because he's not a graphic artist as well as to keep the file sizes tolerable for those who download his games over modems.

Personally, I love the bitmapped old-school graphics. Say what you will about the latest polygonal graphics, but Spidweb's games have a certain charm that many of us older gamers can appreciate.

Some of my old-school favorite Mac RPG's (aside from the Spidweb ones's of course) are:

*Yipe
*Ultima III
*Shattered Stone (Hypercard RPG similar to Final Fantasy)
*Sacraments (very console-like RPG)
*Cythera (Ambrosia)

Most of these are ancient and will require OS9 to run cleanly. Classic is kind of buggy as far as Shattered Stone is concerned.

I'm quite happy with the shopkeepers having unlimited funds with which to buy my unwanted items!
I suspect it will be difficult to go back to Geneforge 2 after getting used to GF3's system!

Heh! Speaking of annoying sounds, I'm not too fond of the coughing noise that some of the characters emit when close to death!

Looking back, life just seemed so much simpler back during the school and university days!

What are your thoughts on the latest acquisition?
A bit unexpected, yes. But is this ultimately for the better? To me, Gamestop buying EB doesn't make too much of a difference. Prices are generally the same on games and consoles at both stores, but you do have to wonder about malls and shopping centers that have both stores.

What do YOU want to see in G4? in Geneforge Series

Since I am a quest completist, I would like to see the available quests list revamped a bit.

Specifically, keep current/open quests in bold or colored font. And when a quest is completed, don't remove it from the list, but rather mark it completed or in a faded font.

I like completing the various quests, but it does get hard to keep track of which one's I've completed since they disappear completely from the quest log once you finish them.

How did you first find out about Spidweb's games and what is it first games you play? in General

I actually dabbled in my first Spiderweb software game (the first Exile) when I got my first Mac back in 1998. The MacAddict Demo Discs back then usually featured an Exile game to try out.

I was surprised by how well the games played as well as the overall length of the demos.

Thank you for the clarification.

I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Between Doom 3 and Geneforge 3, the only games I've been playing lately have been on my Mac! :)
My xbox sits untouched for weeks on end.

Just to clarify, you mention that each ice roamer has a 33% chance of appearing...I've pretty much scoured Harmony Isle completely and only found 1. Does this mean the other 2 ice roamers won't show up in my game?
