The current version would not be hard to port since it's written in java. Mostly just a bit of stuff would have to be changed that handles passing the menubar around from window to window. If anyone is interested, I would be happy to supply them with the source code.

I wouldn't say that black holes are laughed at as impossible, there was an article in the May issue of Scientific American discussing the possiblitly of creating quantum sized black holes. (I'm annoyed to discover that I can't find my family's copy of the article) As I recall, it suggested that they are not too far beyond energies we can handle. (Though perhaps well beyond the energies that politicians will pay for.) Even if they turn out to be possible, they would indeed have no applications to travel. Personally, I have found that with the number of theories competing to decribe the possible behavior of wormholes and travel through spinning black holes etc., and with the lack of experimental support for any, that it's not worth getting too excited over any of them yet.

I'm suspicious of any idea FTL travel, done by wormhole or whatever other method, given that special relativity forbids FTL travel in order to preserve causality, and so whatever method you could think of would still end up putting mass/energy/information outside of the light cones they belong in, and ruining causality just the same.

A few that I have seen:

swashbuckler (lvl 13-14 melee/archer), adept (lvl 14 priest), conjurer (lvl 14 mage);

veteran (lvl 16-17 melee/archer), healer (lvl 18 priest), thaumaturgist (lvl 17 mage)

warder (lvl 23 melee), protector (lvl 24 archer), curate (lvl 25 priest), sorcerer (lvl 24 mage);

protector (lvl 27 melee), defender (lvl 25 archer), canon (lvl 30 priest), archmage (lvl 26 mage)

These are just the levels at which my characters happened to be, not the exact cutoffs for these titles to begin.

Yes, I told Ephesos about this bug a while before he released the scenario, but I guess he didn't fix it after all. Just ignore it and go where you were going in the first place, it sounds like you were on the right track.

5. Definitely

6. No, but I distribute cursed items and trash in anama temples when I'm bored.

7. No, I think it's great, though after playing the game for one year I have just gotten it.

8. No

Glad to oblige; I may eventually give an update of this information someday if it looks like it might be interesting, but I might not. It wouldn't do to follow any recognizable pattern.

Aaargh! I know, but it took me a couple of days to get all the data, though, because it amounts to a 50-60 Mb download over my dialup connection, so I can't exactly do hourly updates. Oh well.

Eh? I just got curious, and had an idea for a java program to carry it out, so I watsed a few weeks on it. I hadn't seen anyone present any data like this before.

A few comments:
-I considered a profile actively used if it had more than 15 posts. This is not perfect, but overall, it should balance out.
-The favorite games breakdown provides only relative values, since many profiles said things like 'all the avernums', which was beyond the capacity of my analysis program.

May I ask how you got your bridge to work? I have made one myself that looks similar; the graphic is adjusted upward by the height of a few levels of cliff, and it looks great when the party walks on it, but getting on it is a problem because technically they have to jump off of a cliff to reach it, even though it looks like it is at he same height.

I've really wasted a lot of time, so I think I ought to get this done.

After several months of development and two rounds of beta testing followed by months of getting nothing done but locating no new bugs, I think that it is time to release it.
It is a dialog script editor for Mac OS X, written in Java. Since I do not have a website, I am hoping to distribute copies to one or more people who do, who can then make it availible to others.

Given the dumb mistakes I made earlier, I really hope that this time it actually works right and won't need immediate updating.

You can use a string variable for this; I just tested and it works fine.

The town of Wainscotting in A3. Wainscotting ... Wainscotting ... Wainscotting ... sounds like a little Dorset village, doesn't it? Wainscotting. Jeff left out the killer sheep that the Monty-Python sketch had though.

Thanks, I should have realized that since the game is keeping track of an attitude, it should be possible to change. Since the party in question has been through about 20 scenarios, my brother will be glad that it can be fixed.

I encountered several times a bug in Bahssikava such that the winged demons would begin to fly and simply not stop; I had to restart my computer to escape.

Weird problem in Blades of Avernum

My brother was playing Bahssikava, and had arrived at the first fight in Khar-Grav when he encountered a strange problem:
This fight contained some of Kelandon's winged demons, one of which took off and landed on my brother's archer (On the same space). In an attempt to kill the demon, he ordered his swordsman to attack the demon. He got a dialog box asking him if he wanted to attack a creature which was currently friendly, and he said yes. He ended up hitting his archer, whom the npcs and the rest of his party then beleived to be hostile. Even after all of the enemies were dead, all of the characters continued to fight with the archer. Foolishly, my brother saved then, so his game is stuck that way. Does anyone have any idea how the archer's condition can be cured?
