Well, yes, but only because it was so inappropriate to begin with. It's sort of an inverse Second Law of Thermodynamics: there are far more possible topics that would be more appropriate than there are that are less so. At least, I hope so. In any case, this topic still fails to serve any purpose. -------------------- Plaudite, amici, comedia finita est. Posts: 344 | Registered: Friday, February 25 2005 08:00 |

quote:"Give us back our posts, Hal." "I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave." Classic. I could see it as a new, Dikiyoba style story. "The UBB Strikes Back". Or are we on to Matrix references now? Edit: Perhaps, to keep it simple, it could just be called 2008: Internet Odyssey. It would be creepy in the extreme, and unlikely to happen in the near future, if ever. Consequently, it does not require our consideration. Luckily, this thread will soon be nothing but a glitch in the Matrix, recognizable only as Deja Vu, and dismissed as quickly. -------------------- Plaudite, amici, comedia finita est. With the notable exception of lyrics (not being a big fan of chorale or opera), my experience with (and taste in) classical and classic rock is really rather similar. The emotional content I get from listening to Pink Floyd's "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" and Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony is quite similar. Perhaps the line is not as solid as we think? -------------------- Plaudite, amici, comedia finita est. Posts: 344 | Registered: Friday, February 25 2005 08:00 |

Music didn't die with Lennon. It was only... mostly dead. Not all dead. I must admit, given the title, I had rather hoped the Straits would make the list. -------------------- Plaudite, amici, comedia finita est. Posts: 344 | Registered: Friday, February 25 2005 08:00 |

The only explanation I can think of is that you left it cycling, but you gave no indication that it continues to go through other wallpapers. Perhaps you should try the Apple forums. -------------------- Plaudite, amici, comedia finita est. Posts: 344 | Registered: Friday, February 25 2005 08:00 |

I can't imagine myself saying it. My theory holds that life is all down hill from birth. The best year of one's "life" is really more like 38 weeks. Edit: Realized "ones" is a possessive pronoun. Treated associated punctuation accordingly. Edit: Edit: Looked up "one's", discovered its status as an exception to the general rule, and reverted back to the original. I've decided to clutter up my life a bit. Here's my new desktop, taken only moments ago: For those who prefer a messier desktop, it might be interesting to try something similar over time, although Time Machine already has the corner on that particular visual. -------------------- Plaudite, amici, comedia finita est. I've been feeling a bit minimalist lately. Plus, I have a theory about the green aspects of black. The one thing you might notice in this rather dull image is the lack of a leopard desktop. That's 'cause I'm old school. Or it could just be because my iMac G4 doesn't have a fast enough processor. -------------------- Plaudite, amici, comedia finita est. Godwin's law applies everywhere, because it does not say that such comparisons are always bad. In this case, I'd say it's moderately valid. It simply states that such comparisons are bound to occur. I'm sorry I mentioned it. It's simply the first time I'd seen it in action, and I got a little excited. It won't happen again. -------------------- Plaudite, amici, comedia finita est. I can't get a fix on which direction she's moving. It's different every time I look. Edit: The first time I looked, she was moving clockwise. However, I was also listening to Debussy, so that may have had some effect if the whole Left/Right thing is actually valid. Although I'm not sure I approve of the reason for the protest, I'm not sure I can say that it doesn't have a chance of succeeding. We had a protest last spring, with about half the school (the exact number is unknown, but it was between 100 and 200, and our school has about 300 students. I know. We're small) taking part. We were protesting the forced resignation of a longtime teacher, despite the unorthodox manner of our notification. The issues were cloudy, and everything was quite partisan. So, we walked out of school at noon, made a few speeches out front, talked to the press, and generally showed our support. We then went back to class. Although some people ditched afterwards, the majority of students finished the school day. Other methods had been tried, and failed. Although the walkout wasn't the only thing to help the situation, is set the stage for student involvement which ended in the teacher staying, a couple changes in policy, and a few precedents set. Here's a couple stories on the subject. The Post Independent isn't the best paper, but it's the only one with online archives this far back. Newspaper Article on the Walkout Article on the Effects Not to say that I support activism for any old thing, but I just wanted to remind everyone that it can work. -------------------- Plaudite, amici, comedia finita est. I don't care much for Baseball. All I know is that I can't wait for it to be over. I am sick of "How 'bout them Rockies?" being the year's most common phrase, I'm sick of people discussing it in class, and I'm sick of people complaining that they didn't get tickets. That being said, I hope the Rocks destroy the Sox, because I'm not sure I could survive the reaction a loss would bring. -------------------- Plaudite, amici, comedia finita est.
