Same here. I grew up on a station in outback Queensland, and we could go for half a year without seeing a cloud.

Canberra is not my favourite place. Mind, I'm naturally predjudiced against cities of any kind, but it's cold, it's easy to get lost, and it's full of politicians. Maybe that gets to everyone else, too.

EDIT: Also, we probably only HAVE three or four of what Americans would call cities. Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Brisbane are the only ones with more than a million people. Canberra has 300,000.

Speaking of which, the one thing that I've noticed about Canberra as opposed to other parts of Australia, apart from the number of bureaucrats and the wonky roads, is the booze. Every supermarket I've been to here has had a significant portion devoted to alcohol, sometimes as much as 25% of the shop. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else.

They do complain about it a bit, but they have no right to. I've had many conversations since I got here that went something like this:

"Oh, you're new here! Where do you come from?"

"South Australia."

"Hey, I have a cousin who lives in Adelaide too!"

"...there's a lot of South Australia that isn't Adelaide, you know."

I heard this story once about some Aussies travelling overseas. They got chatting with this American, and then he found out they were from Australia.

"So whereabouts in Australia do you live?"

"Adelaide."

"What's the closest big city to that, so I can get an idea of where it is?"

We have quite a few brands, and you can get Fosters if you want it, but it's nowhere near being the most popular.

We export a lot of Fosters, but not that many of us drink it. VB is more popular in the south, XXXX tends to be the beer of choice in Queensland.

11 votes in, and so far it looks a bit like this:

MOST PLAYED: A2. Everyone has at least tried the demo, and it shares the lead for most registrations.

MOST APPEALING DEMO: BoA. Everybody who gave the demo a try registered, except for one person, who rated it 'good'.

MOST LOVED: BoE. Everyone who registered gave it full marks. It also has the highest number of 'great' votes of any game.

Homeland and all the RWGs have received one 'registered, great' vote. I suspect that at least some of these people are lying. However, assuming they aren't:

LEAST PLAYED: Tie between Homeland and GC. Bad press, I suspect.

MOST HATED: Homeland. Aside from the one person who claims to have registered and loved it, every one who touched the demo thought it was awful.

I figured let's do this properly, get it out of the way, and hopefully we won't have to do it ever again. Also, it might be cool to get some stats that mean something. :)

The trouble with most polls like this is that most people who vote won't have played all the games, so there's a certain amount of skew. This poll is designed to tell us not only which game the most people liked, but which game the most people played, and which game has the best "satisfaction rate".

Edit: And by a neat coincidence, it's a cool way to celebrate 500 posts. In this account. Yeah.

Nothing more exciting than seeing the ball kicked deep into your team's forward line, and someone taking a big mark. Like this:

So hopefully that's given you an idea of the sort of game Aussie Rules is, though obviously not a comprehensive list of rules and stuff.

After all, teaching religious beliefs isn't the same as forcing them to be accepted. And surely it's only responsible to educate your children about ethics and the basis for them, which is religious for many people.

Well, of course you'd have to spend the first 30 minutes or so on the surface as our heroes are unjustly sentenced to exile. Then the central plot becomes finding a way out, and getting back at the people who sent them there. Kill anything unrelated, and you might have a chance of an okay movie.

Edit: I should say "chuck out anything unrelated". Killing unrelated stuff is exactly what the game already is. :P
