BoA is the first one I've played beyond the demo though, sorry to say. quote:Yes, much better. That sounds like it would make for some cool possibilities... like maybe another world where the Empire is a bunch of Nephils and humans are barbarian outcasts. -------------------- "'I saw the duckling hatch and disappear. I've been slowly trudging through The Tale of Genji. Not easy reading, but it's mostly just various sexual escapades and court intrigue... There's this fantastically entertaining part where the protagonist and his best friend have more or less of a love triangle with an old woman... I read it on my lunch break. It's like reading a romance novel without all the raised eyebrows. -------------------- "'I saw the duckling hatch and disappear. Sadly I ask who may have taken it.'" 1. Screw Vahnatai PCs. I say give us goblin PCs! Penalty to all attribute, huge XP Bonus! Or Dragon PCs with decimal level intervals! Go through a dozen scenarios just to reach level 3! -------------------- "'I saw the duckling hatch and disappear. Sadly I ask who may have taken it.'" Just some emerging thoughts on places/situations/characters it'd be fun to encounter in future scenarios... maybe I'll use some myself someday if I ever get off my bum and make one... - an ancient, huge, benevolent Slith lord of a human village... ...a vahnatai/human missing link, as in a fossil or mummified corpse... ...or maybe a surface-dwelling (nocturnal) vahnatai offshoot... ...a huge mining/smithing town: ore, forges, lava, makeshift refineries everywhere... ...a peaceful society of intelligent golems... ...etc. ... -------------------- "'I saw the duckling hatch and disappear. Yeah, they're all a-holes. For all their power and wisdom they're remarkably childlike. Drakes are a lot cooler; at least they're mostly predictable. ...and if I may ask more generally, is there a source of Empire/Avernum backstory info somewhere? I don't really want to play through all the games and take notes as I go... but I will if I have to! And what about hairballs? What are their dining customs? Do they randomly snarl and hiss when they first meet other nephils? Oh oh - do they mark their territory? No, I think 'Vorpal Sword' is like 'Dragon's Teeth' and 'Orc' - ubiquitous in fantasy. I seem to recall a vorpal sword from the gold box RPGs... -------------------- "'I saw the duckling hatch and disappear. Sadly I ask who may have taken it.'" Posts: 67 | Registered: Monday, June 28 2004 07:00 |

It's be hard to make Erika an integral part of a scenario. She has such a well-established history that any scenario incorporating her would have to be very well-crafted and make several concessions in the plot just to include her. At this point she's probably better-suited for cameos. -------------------- "'I saw the duckling hatch and disappear. Sadly I ask who may have taken it.'" Well, when you put it that way it doesn't seem nice at all. But I think Maynard is a little less draconian and a little more 'Prince.' -------------------- "'I saw the duckling hatch and disappear. Sadly I ask who may have taken it.'" Posts: 67 | Registered: Monday, June 28 2004 07:00 |
