I just got an e-mail back from Jeff. He says that the damage cap will be fixed in BoA. :) -------------------- "If you held a weapon to Fwiffo's head, he would say anything you wanted him to. The damage system was the biggest flaw in A3. There was no reason to choose power weapons because you could do about as much with a simple longsword. Your party cut through monsters like a flaming chainsaw through butter. Now the monsters did do a lot of damage. However, with the insane power of healing, if you survived one round you were fine. Also, hardiness was an unbalanced skill - you could get awesome resistance really easily. It was too easy even on torment. -------------------- "If you held a weapon to Fwiffo's head, he would say anything you wanted him to. Read the first post of this topic, he said he was thinking about making the editor open source, though not the actual game engine. -------------------- "If you held a weapon to Fwiffo's head, he would say anything you wanted him to. Well, you could just open up the files and replace the character portraits with ones you want. -------------------- "If you held a weapon to Fwiffo's head, he would say anything you wanted him to. Brett, I'm almost positive that he was referring to the dialogue window, not the pics themselves. I e-mailed him about the same topic a few days ago, and here's the reply I got: quote:The size he gave me makes a lot more sense for a dialogue pic, so I think he was just telling you about the dialogue window. Huh? I don't think I understand. 200x200 is huge for a dialog pic. -------------------- "If you held a weapon to Fwiffo's head, he would say anything you wanted him to. Brett has said that he plans to take color edits out of the database and stick them in a zip file. Edits that clearly took some effort will still be in there though. And Diceryder, there's no need to be such a jerk. You just bashed a bunch of the people on this forum. Yes, my two pics are taken from Geneforge. But it really does a little work to copy and paste everything – it’s tedious. Would it be copyright infringement to take stuff from non-Spidweb games? I’m thinking it would, but I just want to make sure. Republican, Democrat, etc. in General | |

Clinton and Bush disenchanted me with the American government. Both are horrible. I used to be republican because my parents are, but when I can vote I'll definitely be independent, although my views on issues lean *slightly* toward republican, I do not judge politicians by their party. You know, President Washington warned against political parties in his farewell speech. The fact is that many who are registered as Republicans or Democrats are blinded by party loyalty. I'd bet money that if Bush were a Democrat, most of the more critical congressmen/senators such as Tom Daschle would be right behind him, and Rush Limbaugh would be bashing the guy (Just for the record, I am against the Iraq war). A great book to read for anyone who likes politic(ian)s, hates politic(ian)s, or doesn't care about politic(ian)s - well, any American for that matter - is Dave Barry Hits Below the Beltway. It satirizes the government from a non-partisan point of view (he even rewrites the constitution), is absolutely hilarious, and even has a couple of good insights. Probably teen. The ESRB is a lot stricter with violence in newer games (case in point: Super Smash Brothers Melee got T, the original got E). Also, there's a moderate amount of profanity. In an RPG, story comes first. But in a genre where story isn't important, like sports games or racing games or most action games, graphics are more important. However, the most important factor of all is gameplay. -------------------- "If you held a weapon to Fwiffo's head, he would say anything you wanted him to. Close. The Louvre is a BoA art database. It's in Brett's (Void Master's) signature. And I highly reccomend method A. It takes an annoyingly long time to view all the graphics, and I have cable. I'm impatient, but still. -------------------- "If you held a weapon to Fwiffo's head, he would say anything you wanted him to. A lot of those questions we don't know the answer to - people will probably make scenarios that explore those plot areas though. -------------------- "If you held a weapon to Fwiffo's head, he would say anything you wanted him to. Is yours the goblin with the shield and the red eyes? I agree that graphics such as that one that have noticeable differences besides the color should be kept. -------------------- "If you held a weapon to Fwiffo's head, he would say anything you wanted him to. Yes, take the color edits out. One thing I would like to point out though is that as much as I dislike Daniel Ray's color edits, his Flame Vent and both Lightning Pillars are quite good and should be kept in the database. -------------------- "If you held a weapon to Fwiffo's head, he would say anything you wanted him to. I agree 100%. Color edits are a huge waste of space. Real edits are one thing, but just doing the same thing over and over again with a different color should not be accepted. A good edit would be the winged demons - those guys are great. Now Brett, I know your response will be: "But not everyone has the software to do color edits." Well, you can download this program called EasyPEG here: http://www.hnm-freeware.com/EasyPeg/ It can do color edits very easily, and is essentially freeware (registering gets you some extra features that you don't need). In fact, I suggest that if you remove the color edits you add a link to EasyPeg to your page for people who want to be able to easily edit the color. That seems like a reasonable compromise. Yes, but if summons gave you experience it might add another viable way of doing your battles besides the standard "buff, hack, and burn." -------------------- "If you held a weapon to Fwiffo's head, he would say anything you wanted him to. It would add tactical depth, because then summon spells would be a lot more useful (right now most people seldom use them except the occasional illusions and simulacrum. The more viable options for the strategy you use, the better. Anyone else think this is a good idea? It would make summoning spells much more useful which would give the game more tactical depth, right now they're not that great. -------------------- "If you held a weapon to Fwiffo's head, he would say anything you wanted him to.
