What version of BoA are you using? Well, meh. I might as well explain. The shooting-someone-with-arrows-doesn't-make-the-town-hostile bug is a known bug in older versions of BoA, but I was under the impression that it was fixed recently. Those monsters are friendly until they get turned hostile, so there's no error on the designer's side. You probably forgot to start with a "clear" or "import" call. Every custom object that doesn't start with one of those is a duplicate of the immediately preceding object, except in those ways that you specifically change. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. As always, TM, go to hell. Other than my own scenarios, my favorite is Emerald Mountain. It's more entertaining than RoR, more smooth than Canopy, longer than BS and X'd, more involving than APF (although this is close), more polished than BC and CV, and generally more worthwhile than the JV scenarios (except VoDT, which is also close). -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Well, I could send you the documentation, but I rather suspect you already have it. There is no tutorial or anything. You just have to make a custom objects script (i.e., duplicate VoDT's and put it in your scenario's folder, renaming it and deleting references to custom graphics as needed) and experiment until you figure out what you're doing. BoA can easily do many more things that would directly relate to the action of ASR, so one would expect a good cutscene in Zaskiva and various other improvements. BoA's ASR lacks these improvements. Therefore it is relatively worse. That is, BoA's ASR is worse relative to what BoA can do than BoE's ASR is. That said, I really don't like the Empire and chose to side with the rebels almost instantly. So soon, in fact, that the plotline couldn't handle it and pretended that I was still working for the Empire for another quest. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Yes. If it still gives you grief, try uncapitalizing "begintownscript" and "body." Also, um, dear god, you're teaching 50 levels of healing in one shot. That's a bit much. You're probably missing a semi-colon somewhere just above this. I recommend to you Alint, which has more reliable line numbers than BoA. If you still can't figure it out, post the whole script up to line 25 and the error message verbatim. EDIT: I am TEH SPAMER, too. Problem: 1021 3-5 don't have floor graphics. The floor graphic for the necklace is in another sheet, which means it can't be used with those graphics. They look bad if you use the same graphic for the floor as for the inventory. I will omit them for the time being. The rest of the missing graphics have been added. Check out the new version at the Codex. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Smoo: Get ready to face the walls! This is very likely not a "script" error precisely — it's a BoA error. In general these are very hard to track down for designers, and they're caused by very odd things. For this one, leaving and coming back later seems to help, for reasons as yet unknown. EDIT: Wait... no... I have a theory, though. My guess is that running clear_town from a creature script breaks Win-BoA. If only I had a PC to test this with.... Either that, or it's something with the bmp file that holds the bandit leader's graphic. There's no way you'll be able to get this game if you have less than $30 to spend (unless you wait for the next sale — they tend to have one per year or so). You can get it in combination with other games at a discount, but the total price tag of the games will still exceed $30. Think about how much you're getting for $30, though — literally hundreds upon hundreds of hours of gameplay with well over two hundred scenarios. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. This is a bad idea. Wait 'til BoG comes out. In the meantime, use BoA and implement a bunch of GF graphics. Jeff almost certainly will not be okay with someone distributing a version of GF3 or GF1 with altered scripts. And, in any case, even if he were, you should get his permission first (by direct contact, i.e. e-mail, not these boards) before even starting work.
