In a world with magic, technology becomes a lot less necessary. Very few times have futuristic technology and magic been fused in a way that I find pleasing. Star Wars, of course is the exception to this rule, and every other rule. -------------------- "As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it." --Albert Einstein -------------------- Posts: 536 | Registered: Sunday, September 7 2003 07:00 |

I think an idea competition was discussed at some point on the lyceum, but never came through. -------------------- "As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it." --Albert Einstein -------------------- Posts: 536 | Registered: Sunday, September 7 2003 07:00 |

It certainly wouldn't hurt. But I think he is avoiding making blanket rules specifically to allow him to use his own discretion. -------------------- "As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it." --Albert Einstein -------------------- Posts: 536 | Registered: Sunday, September 7 2003 07:00 |

It's great that you think that, Ben, but frankly, I don't think Jeff gives a damn. I just hasted one of my characters and let him run back and let the others die. quote:You have to do something pretty darn extreme to have your ISP bail out on you. The oly case of this I know of was when a friend of mine stole a domain name and posted instrutions for making various chemical biological and explosive weapons at that site. I was a bit bummed, because that was one of the most intelligent debates I've ever seen on that issue, but as everyone has said, Jeff is perfectly within his rights to close a topic. In fact, he really doesn't have to give a reason. It's his boards. -------------------- "As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it." --Albert Einstein -------------------- Posts: 536 | Registered: Sunday, September 7 2003 07:00 |

some Internet providers, such as AOL, give you a different IP proxy each time you sign on. Otherwise, you could manually assign a proxy IP address. -------------------- "As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it." --Albert Einstein -------------------- Posts: 536 | Registered: Sunday, September 7 2003 07:00 |

Agreed, although it is a BoE scenario, and I took the above post to mean no definitive BoA demon scenario. If you have BoE, however, Demon would be a good place to look at how to do the whole demon thing without reverting to an OMG! DEMONZ are EV1L!!! KILL tEHM! type of scenario. -------------------- "As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it." --Albert Einstein -------------------- Posts: 536 | Registered: Sunday, September 7 2003 07:00 |

I often do things that I don't enjoy or want to do. I do this despite having no incentive to do so. Either I am an aberration, or (some) humans have gotten past a simple reward/cosequence moral paradigm. -------------------- "As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it." --Albert Einstein -------------------- Posts: 536 | Registered: Sunday, September 7 2003 07:00 |

The fact that something is human nature doesn't make it right. The greatest thing about humans is our ability to overcome our primal instincts. Murder, rape, and discrimination are also part of human nature. Does that make these things more palatable. -------------------- "As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it." --Albert Einstein -------------------- Posts: 536 | Registered: Sunday, September 7 2003 07:00 |

I'm not really sure I agree with your analysis of RPG's as having a conservative moral outlook. Games such as Final Fantasy contain a good bit of moral ambiguity. -------------------- "As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it." --Albert Einstein -------------------- Posts: 536 | Registered: Sunday, September 7 2003 07:00 |

It seems reasonably interesting. The problem wth demons is that sometimes they have no motivations, which is bad. For example, in my BoE scenario, Inferno, I was hevily criticized for the use of demons, but this was because they had no underlying reason for their actions. -------------------- "As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it." --Albert Einstein -------------------- Posts: 536 | Registered: Sunday, September 7 2003 07:00 |

All forms of satanism are rather repulsive to me. Whether you worship Satan or not, the basic selfish tenets of the religion are rather dispicable. -------------------- "As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it." --Albert Einstein -------------------- Posts: 536 | Registered: Sunday, September 7 2003 07:00 |
