I don't think Word of Recall was in E1. In E3 making Bigail mad isn't disastrous because the roaches aren't essential as long as you finish the slimes, which you can do as long as you don't start killing folks in Krizsan.

—Alorael, who really thinks mass murder is the easiest way to screw up any Spiderweb game. Instant death nodes will not always save you.

I'd go with ubiquitous. It's appropriately and neutrally understated. In my mind it is forever associated with lint, which helps.

—Alorael, who must point out that SPAM is the food product. It's the lowercase version that is ubiquitous online.

This topic makes me feel guilty and I didn't even start it. Wow. Sometimes if you have something nice to say, you should think it over and make sure it's not blather. Okay, most of Spiderweb is blather, but there is some bibblous blather here.

—Alorael, who promises that if he were an admin he would feel obligated to give himself changing custom titles. Can having gimmicks become a gimmick? Is that a meta-gimmick?

I'm not one of the number-crunchers, but I don't think level has any direct impact on your chance to hit or be hit. That's entirely based on your skills and equipment.

—Alorael, who says go with Defense if you need it and accept that at higher levels you are going to be pounded by some enemies. The best defense is often a priest with plenty of energy.

Thanks, guys. It means a lot to me. Especially the cookies! I can't even complain that they're only virtual, because, well, so am I.

Welcome to Spiderweb. Leave your sanity at the door. Do try to manage to post more than once.

—Alorael, who thinks these hello and welcome threads always bring out the worst in Spiderweb. The only thing that could bring them lower is karma.

This forum is already gone, and all of you will acknowledge the truth of this statement by the Sunday after the Sunday before the forum was removed.

Also, RWG will live on as long as men and women and other beings with implants continue to exist and tinfoil hats don't suddenly become popular.

—Alorael, who used all his considerably lacking willpower to resist the temptation to make some reference to Caturday.

You know what? It may not be true for everyone, but many people weren't that bad at thirteen. They may have improved with age, but they weren't as bad as some are to begin with. Most of the 20-ish Spidweb oldbies fall into that category, really. And to be fair, there are plenty of very youngsters around now who don't act like the stereotypical 13 year old blight upon the internet.

And that is why I generally don't like to talk about age online when it's not relevant, and in fact why I'm not so keen on it even when it is relevant. Judge people by actions, not age. Age is neither a good excuse nor an achievement.

—Alorael, who will candidly admit to being exactly what Alec loathes. As an insider he really can't tell what's so objectionable about fuzzy, cuddly, cloying, saccharine humor and what makes acidity so wonderful in comparison. Originality is always nice, but you don't have to make someone cry to be original. (Maybe people should grow thicker eSkin, but that's another problem.)

Usually your location choices are limited by jobs you can get, which gives you a limited range of public school districts and in-state colleges. You really can get screwed, or rather your children can.

—Alorael, who has recently read Theo's Odyssey, which tries to be to religion what Sophie's World is to philosophy and only manages to be mediocre. He's now reading the Runelords books, which are very close to the epitome of schlock fantasy and not in an entertaining R. A. Salvatore way.

I've really had almost no trouble with Classic. It's backwards compatibility on Intel Macs that requires an unusual degree of sophistication and third-party software to finagle.

—Alorael, whose only real regret is never being able to get Summoner to run right with any tricks but a Mac booted in OS 9. It's still a mediocre game and it still has the best city in any game he's seen.

We drink tea, not champagne. To the other accusations I have no comment, except that foie gras does not go down well with skribbane.

I can't say I've had that particular problem anytime recently.

Human tails? Humans don't have tails. I know this only because the internet told me so. And that's referring both to the quote and to the lack of tails.

Ending disappointment in Nethergate
Law Bringer

Nethergate's ending fits the game much better than saving the world, and it's also the ending that can continue the theme of everything being the same no matter which perspective you play from.

—Alorael, who wouldn't object to some minor changes in the ending based on what you do. Whether or not the hags end up dead could make some difference, for example, or slaughtering everyone in the Hollow Hills, and so on. In the end, though, the faeries get screwed, the Celts get no reward, and the Roman Empire has hit its peak. That's history. Especially the faeries.

Question about magery and mighty drake boon in The Avernum Trilogy

Magery definitely works for all spells, not just mage spells. It adds one point to "bonus" in every spell's formula.

—Alorael, who believes those formulas can be found in the manual. Yes, looking in the manual for information is crazy. It works anyway.

Play Nethergate or the faeries will steal your babies.

—Alorael, who supposes that's not a review. Okay, how about this: it's so good you'll be willing to trade your babies to the faeries for it.
