Actually, I don't turn it off on the new PC, and don't have trouble. But then again, it is a lot faster.

Actually, we were talking about "sentient things". I'm avowedly agnostic, and from the premise that it is sentience that matters, I did not distinguish between human beings and deities. Then again, you're right about Gods. Mainly because a God, being much more powerful, can wreak a whole lot more havoc, and, being immortal, usually lacks that dash of humility that might put all that worshipping into perspective.

Plainly, it'll be much harder to find a God who doesn't want to be worshipped than a human.

I use a crappy and badly installed version of Stuffit. If you show me a link where I can get winrar (or is that included with Windows?), I'll probably have it open in no time.

I wrote the post above before I tried to open the file. :P

Worship of worthy people who do not want it is not a unilaterally bad idea (as long as it does not corrupt them). People worthy of worship usually have a lot of trouble in their lives and could probably go with a token of appreciation. :P

---

I see "evolution" used with reference to culture. Note that originally it referred to biological and physiological development of species, not mental and cultural development of civilizations. The latter happens a lot faster than the former.

On my old XP computer, it regularly froze the entire pc forcing me to pull the plug, or alternatively caused the pc to pretend I had pressed the reset button. But that says nothing, because it regularly did that with all games. No problems now.

And I have never had any health bar failing to update for any character or creation on any machine. It sounds weird; perhaps there was some program running in the background interfering?

Actually, there is one thing I noticed which is not strictly speaking a bug as such, but rather an annoyance that you can avoid if you know about it. The floor/terrain outside the town boundaries uses the last row of squares inside the town boundaries and repeats it forever in line of sight.

This means that, when placing frills, you have to watch out that no frills are placed in the outermost rows, because the effect will be a long row of the same frill continued as far as the eye can see (looks highly artificial).

The problem is mostly with the "Place Random Frills" option, which has to be followed by a manual sweep of the outer rows. Perhaps this effect could be modified to only affect the area two squares in from the town boundary...

Aran re-read his post, and came to the realization that with the right premise, one could come to the conclusion he is inferring Waffle Guy is a newbie.

That is only a joke however, as Alo said.

Still, taking offense at being called a newbie, in joke or not, is also one of the marks of ne--- ah well, who cares?

Again, thanks very much. :) That makes only 3 gaps left open.

Edit: A preliminary table of PPP2 is now finished. It begins at 1651, because earlier topics are so far strewn in their numbers that I would rather wait until the PPP1 is also filed.

First column is unique thread number (this topic here has number 2188, it's in the URL above), second is status (deleted, saved or partially saved), the third is the project (PPP1 or PPP2), then thread title, number of pages, number of posts.

Edit: Trust me to mess the topic number up. Of course its 2188, not 2189.

While I am by no means proficient at Japanese, my humble knowledge of the Desperic Dialect tells me that Alec was expressing his distaste at this topic, that he has never heard of BitDefender, and that he feels the entire thread to be irrelevant.

That said, I haven't heard of BitDefender either. I used Norton for a month, then grew tired of its constant nagging to buy a subscription, and switched to AntiVir.

Thanks a bundle, Kel. :)

2 (soon to be 3) off the list, 4 to go.

Edit: PPP2 has now been completely catalogued; it is unlikely further pages are going to be discovered as missing (Newer threads than the newest of my PPP2 archive may have been stored, but that doesn't matter since all those threads are still on the forum). I'm working on sorting PPP1.

Edit II: I have recovered the PPP1 thread from the PPP2 archive (ironic...).

I wondered at first how Page 13 failed to be added, while 10-12 survived, being done by the same person.

Kel picked up on that then, and saved 10-12 (DP didn't finish 12).

So my guess is either Plah has page 13, or it is truly lost.

Edit III: Sent him a PM. He doesn't come here regularly though... if it shows as unread in a week, I will email him.

It's in human nature to think in Good/Evil terms. You can't abolish the binary thought, you can only suppress it with the neutral point of view. If you do try to abolish it completely, we will be totally disoriented. We need a basic idea that we can latch on to that we see as absolute good or absolute evil. It's up to us to make that idea what we want, but I don't think you're able to live without one.

If you will remember, RC has got the PPP1 archives here.

They start on page 5, which makes sense since anything more recent at that time did not get deleted (some of that stuff went in the second purge and is now in the PPP2). However, as you progress down the pages, you find that Page 13 of General PPP1 is missing. Rather than attribute this to superstition, I believe that it either failed to be saved or did not get sent to RC.

Edit: Desert Plah sent me page 13 and its contents. All resolved.

***

Also, the PPP2 files include several old topics that Alec revived prior to starting PPP1, that were then locked. Among these is topic number 829 (titled 'Wut do u look like?"), of which only the first five pages were saved (probably my fault). Since several people saved parts of General (this is where redundancy might pay off), it might be that the rest of this has been saved. If so, mail it to arancaytar@web.de .

This also goes for the following topics, insignificant though they seem:

855: Favorite (poll result)901: PNN-Live from Grenada (page 1)1682: My Representative (page 2)
Especially the poll results were probably lost because it was impossible to see the result once it got locked, so I don't think anyone has them. Besides, all of this (apart, possibly, "from Wut do u look like") is probably mind-bendingly obsolete. Still, I like to keep things as complete as possible.
Also, I am still sorting through the archive with a fine-tooth comb and compiling a thread list. Assuming I can find a good hosting plan for it (currently looking at the domain pied-piper.net with lustful eyes). Won't be long now. :)
Received:
829: 'Wut do u look like?" (page 6,7,8)1705: BoA and BoE (poll result)1716: Mayday (poll result)Page 13 of General PPP1

On the other hand, if we use the starting set of skill points in Exile 2, we end up with our characters far too underpowered. I don't want to spend long posts in this RP just leveling up, that's for computer games, not rps.

Boredom is not the root of evil, in as much as progress is not the root of evil. What both are used for may, under some circumstances, be classified as such, but it's like saying metal is evil because you can make guns from it.
