Oh. Sorry, my bad. Like I said, we don't have a pro-choice movement over here, and the only times I've heard their rhetorics, they've been ripe with comments along the lines of "Jesus cries whenever you kill a baby".
From context, I gather this should be "pro-life". ;)

Yes, it makes perfect sense. When the ratio of girls to guys is about 1:10, I can see why sex would need to be rationed.

I agree the article does sound a bit awkward, especially to those who are against abortion in general. However, this is a genuine problem in many poor and culturally male-dominated countries: For those who cannot care for two children, the advantage of having a son over having a daughter is strongly ingrained.

Up to now, this has been balanced by the technical inability to predict the gender, and by the social mores against killing newborns (note that this isn't universal, but most would not kill a newborn daughter because they wanted a son).

The arrival of cheap ways to determine gender and abort pregnancies before birth could severely unbalance the population. The only ways to prevent this are either evolving the cultural customs to the point where having daughters is as advantageous as having sons (impossible in practice, in any reasonable timespan), or abolishing the high poverty rate (also difficult in a short timespan), or outlawing the technology (with immediate effect).

MagmaDragoon, I too voted for Geneforge 3.

Alas, I must try the Avernum Series. I can't JUST get Avernum 2, you know ... and to everyone, my most sincere apologies for not including the more archaic Spiderweb titles.

In which alternate reality is Blades of Avernum older than Avernum 3?

You put Geneforge on there, which was made years before BoA, and Avernum IV, which was years after BoA. Neither, to be sure, have any chance of competing with BoA. So which standard did you use?

I appear to be among the lucky few whose country made the list. You forgot Poland, however.

Seriously, dude, Mongolia and Vatican City qualify, but France doesn't? Why not Pitcairn? I heard there were a few guys with internet there.

You really need to spend some time in a basic Geography course. So do I, apparently, because I didn't even know there was a country named "Lesotho".

Edit: Rather than just complain about an incompetently done poll, I'd point out this alternative.

There is one grain of truth there, though. The other games are indeed "arcane".

Arcane, of course, in the dictionary sense, being magical/mysterious. Sadly also in the sense of "understood and truly appreciated only by very few".

Or did you mean archaic?

1.) Alorael has changed his name daily for more than two years. Do the math.

2.) I owned a budgerigar. For eleven years. Then it died. That was sad.

3.) I am at work.

4.) This topic was a waste of time.

Hey, right. I stand corrected - one could possibly find a way to extract and use the poison.

Still, there are a lot of plant compounds that might be more easy to acquire. Unless unicorn poison is somehow incredibly powerful or has some creatively unique property, it still sounds a bit far-fetched...

Yes, but you can do that with a sharpened stone just fine, and you don't need to find or kill a unicorn for it. The first of which is very tricky in this day and age, and the latter, if not difficult, at least tedious.

The rodent-like unicorn living on the surface has no magical properties; it was hunted as a crop-destroying pest.

Right now I wouldn't want to forcibly remove anyone from anything, and I don't think that is necessary. The last time it was, the RP was in a worse state, there was OOC flaming going on, and the one who was removed had already started boycotting (spamming) the RP.

If necessary, ignore the ICs. Removal should only be necessary for flooding and OOC nastiness.

I'm not sure if I've taken this one, but it should probably count in any case seeing as she's my sister.

IMAGE(http://stuff.ermarian.net/arancaytar/images/other/maria.jpg)

Edit: My sister hacked into my FTP space and changed the picture, so I need to update the caption. This picture I definitely *didn't* take; also, my sister is the one on the right (the dark-haired one).

Edit: I kept wondering what my sister's pose reminded me of. Now I know.

I was a bit unsure because I have seen many guys with long hair (I have it myself), but I think Dikiyoba looks like a girl in that picture. Hence my surprise.
