Anarcho-Communism. It does exist, you know.

I don't think that's what I'd define my own ideal as, though - as the quiz showed, I'm rather neutral on this scale compared to the Political Compass.

It was meant to have more of a shock/deterrent effect; and for that it was sufficient to announce the stats were taken down for an indeterminate period.

No, I didn't specifically plan on giving them back in April when I took them away in March. I just thought that keeping the rankings disabled would no longer be effective, if it had ever been so.

I protest on the grounds that if TM is listed as CG, the test is not measuring reality. I'm sure there are others who have answered as per the instructions and have thus shown a description fitting a RP, not reality. How about we try the whole thing again, but this time answering how we actually do react in these situations. (Those of you who have never seen a merchant mugged in an alley, just click on "Kill them all and loot the bodies.")

:P

As I said in the thread itself, "Good" can be correlated with economic socialism. TM being in the lower left corner of the political compass, it makes sense, too.

(which makes my "True Neutral" even stranger, yep. I guess the scales are shifted.)

Let's blow up the forum in the name of the Lord! (by which I mean "Gimme one too!")

And, for anyone interested, here is the history of the first US Avatar Conflict in 2003.

Someone posted a Fourth of July topic. (this one is less important, but it should still be included). David posted another such topic, this one being bound to ruffle more feathers because he mentioned the word "anti-american" at a time when the Iraq invasion was not yet four months old. And indeed, it became quite heated. It was possibly one of the key reasons for the the first US Conflict Avatars topic by Djur. That one was flooded by Motrax, resulting in a flame fest. It eventually got nuked from orbit by Schrodinger, resulting in TM posting "US Conflict Avatars continued". This topic also became fiery. Eventually, we all made up and ate cake together. The End.

In conclusion, the only positive aspect of it all was that we hopefully learned something from this - both about history and about behavior.

I swear, the titles of these topics become dumber every month. Soon I will be forced to say "Statistics of May 2006" or something like that. Anyway, this is a year after I first posted the stats (although 13 months since I first used the counter - after all, if I hadn't counted in March 2005, I wouldn't have been able to post a ranking in April). For that reason, there will also be the stats for the entire last year!

--

The rankings have been reinstated.

--

I. Joining Rate

126 members have joined, and 62 of them posted. This is slight increase from last month, although the number of posting newbies has dropped by one.

Since the oldest available table in May 2005 (this is the best I can do, I'm afraid; it'll be the time period from May 2005 to April 2006 through all of this), 1224 members have joined, and 732 of them have posted.

Monthly Overview:
April 2005: 151/87
May 2005: 78/43
June 2005: 147/91
July 2005: 153/88
August 2005: 108/62
September 2005: 91/52
October 2005: 81/43
November 2005: 83/41
December 2005: 85/52
January 2006: 136/86
February 2006: 100/59
March 2006: 113/63
April 2006: 126/62

II. Activity

There are 62 new active members, and 256 older active members, for a total community of 318 members. This is a slight decrease from last month, in all three numbers.

Since the first statistics topic in April 2005, 732 active members have joined and 577 older members have posted again, for a total active community of 1309 members.

Monthly Overview:
April 2005: 360 (273)
May 2005: 262 (219)
June 2005: 325 (232)
July 2005: 352 (264)
August 2005: 293 (231)
September 2005: 256 (204)
October 2005: 229 (186)
November 2005: 234 (193)
December 2005: 239 (187)
January 2006: 333 (247)
February 2006: 268 (209)
March 2006: 324 (263)
April 2006: 318 (256)

III. Postage

A total of 6802 posts were written this month, which is a huge decrease from last month, but still the second highest this year.

6802 posts comes to 21.39 posts per member, 221.07 posts per day, and .695 posts per member per day. All these numbers are above average, but far lower than the record high of last month.

A total of 64903 posts were written since May 2005, which comes to 194.20 posts per day, 49.58 posts per active member, and 0.148 per member per day.

Monthly Overview:
April 2005: 7576 | 186 | 21 | 0.47
May 2005: 4723 | 169 | 18 | 0.52
June 2005: 7267 | 251 | 22.4 | 0.77
July 2005: 8691 | 271.6 | 24.7 | 0.77
August 2005: 5917 | 190.9 | 20.1 | 0.65
September 2005: 5412 | 174.6 | 21.1 | 0.68
October 2005: 4477 | 149.3 | 19.5 | 0.65
November 2005: 4389 | 141.6 | 18.8 | 0.61
December 2005: 3958 | 131.9 | 16.6 | 0.55
January 2006: 6580 | 204.3 | 19.8 | 0.61
February 2006: 4555 | 153.24 | 17 | 0.57
March 2006: 7355 | 272.56 | 22.7 | 0.84
April 2006: 6802 | 221.07 | 21.39 | 0.70

IV. Ranking

The top ten of this month are here. I do not feel the least shame for being top spammer for the third month in a row, but still I will try to cut it down in the future.

+------+------+------------------------------------+-------+------------+
| Rank | # | Name | Posts | This Month |

It appears that I caught all members before the title change, so this month's update will have the old titles. The new titles will be shown in May.

As for me, I'm looking on this a bit apathetically, not being affected. :P

Nah. The whole point of D&D (or any RPG) is role-playing.

Of course it can, and roleplaying is a great way to explore ideologies more (or less) extreme, or even running completely counter to what you would believe in in real life. Frequently, the ideologies you hold in real life are even projected in part onto your characters.

The correlation is not very accurate, of course. But the Good/Evil scale ranks your compassion for fellow humans as opposed to your selfishness. This corresponds to the economic scale on the PC, on which you can believe in anything from utter capitalism and survival of the fittest (evil) to a system of total equality in which the strong are obliged to help the weak (good). These labels must not be taken as qualitative judgements, of course. Also, there is an immense shift involved - it takes more extreme selfishness to qualify as "evil" than it takes to be "capitalist".

The Lawful/Chaotic scale ranks your attitude towards authority. An extremely lawful person believes more in strict, restrictive laws than in personal freedoms, and thus in a stable, possibly totalitarian government, while a very chaotic alignment indicates a rebellious, even anarchistic spirit.

--

I just realized I am bringing down the entire thread about our ears with this. Ah screw it, life isn't fun without a heated debate once in a while. And we were talking about political ideologies in RPGs anyway....

... TM and Alec, both elfy. Who'd have thought.

---

It appears I'm too curious and impatient to be a real elf. That's just as well; I don't plan on living 3-7k years after all. I'm surprised about the Neutral bit though - I figure myself more in the Chaotic Good quadrant normally.

True Neutral Half-Elf Bard

Alignment:
True Neutral characters are very rare. They believe that balance is the most important thing, and will not side with any other force. They will do whatever is necessary to preserve that balance, even if it means switching allegiances suddenly.

Race:
Half-Elves are a cross between a human and an elf. They are smaller, like their elven ancestors, but have a much shorter lifespan. They are sometimes looked down upon as half-breeds, but this is rare. They have both the curious drive of humans and the patience of elves.

Primary Class:
Bards are the entertainers. They sing, dance, and play instruments to make other people happy, and, frequently, make money. They also tend to dabble in magic a bit.

Secondary Class:

Law and Chaos:

Neutral - XXXXXXXX (8)

What about that chat? It was certainly heated, yes, and a lot of people said things they might not want repeated later on. But why would links to this material be banned from the forum?

It does take responsibility neatly off our hands. It's not our fault that those inept demonologists failed to completely destroy some arch demon nine hundred ninety-nine and a half years ago, and instead only sealed him away for a thousand years.
