Yes. What is the e-mail you are sending from? I have new spam filters on my machine - it's possible the message is being routed into junk. If you use the word Louvre in the subject line, you should be OK.

Furthermore, this would really help those who are less-programmingly inclined - if we could create a library of scripts that designers could use, it would speed up design and help everyone make better scenarios.

I would be happy to host such a DB. Why don't we take some time here to define our needs and a DB interface?

If it's on the Louvre, it's there to be used. Feel free.

Feel free to alter the desert terrain, snow terrain, as well.

As for the red desert, I did that one for Destiny of the Spheres. I'll see what I can whip up.

Btw, I'm thinking about doing some more graphics, especially terrain (once you get the hang of the slopes it's so much fun), but being the procrastinator I am, I'll probably not send any in until December or something. Still, the idea's sitting at the back of my head. ;)

Great! I just added some of my own! Can you figure out how to do cliffs/steep sides? Can you make things like plateaus in here? Just wondering.

I truly hear what you write, TM. I agree that SW should offer support to players and developers. The level of that support is not clear in my mind.

On one hand, having structures like Alexandria, scenario reviews, etc. are great. But I'm concerned that if we expect that level of support from SW and actually get it, we'll slow down SW's development of new things.

So I guess I am looking for that happy medium, where both the user community and SW put forth their best efforts in the areas that make the most sense. By spreading out the work intelligently, we all win.

As to how to divide this work up, I think the community side is covered well. We'll have a scenario DB, a graphics DB, a scenario review area, Q&A, etc.

So what do we really want to see from SW?

Book-burning? in General

Reading on a computer for most people is 20% slower than offline reading. Dunno why.

A book has had several centuries of refinement. Computers for the masses 20 years or so.

Maybe the book metaphor isn't the best fit for online reading.

If I read in the bathtub and drop my book in, I've lost $10. If I drop my laptop in....

You are dead on here. My research with low-literate adults years ago indicated that people tend to notice the shapes of words, and capitals help them chunk letters into words. So DoThis is easier to read than dothis. Also, avoid all caps, like DOTHIS - actually the hardest to read of all, because you have no ascenders or decenders to hook on to.

Couple this with a scripting contest, and soon we'll have MANY scripts to adapt.

Suggestion to Jeff: Your sample scripts should have (nearly) every line commented - it's the only way people not familiar with this style of coding will ever learn it.

The more that learn, the more you profit.

I have a number of graphics from a Valmiit. The ZIP file sent to me was named BoAset1.zip.

Unfortunately, I've lost all other info on this individual.

If you are Vaslmiit, or know Valmiit, I need the following info:

Author's Name:
Author's e-mail:

Thanks!

Avernum games as scenerios for BOA? in Blades of Avernum

I don't see whay you couldn't take your party members sans special stuff from one scenario to another?

The best thing I can think of to preserve a party from one scenario in a series to another is to build a "Party-level builder," similar to what's done in BoE, but build it into the scenario itself. With 200 towns possible in BoA, space should not be an issue. For example, suppose you have special item "Flask of endless Water" in part two of a three-part scenario. In the beginning of part three, force the player through a town where s/he can pick up that special item for use in the third scenario.

More work for the designer, but this should work for those few who will design a multi-scenario story.

Speaking of the Louvre - we need Terrain Graphics! Go to the Louvre, read the tutorial - then make a set! We need

Artic
Desert
Jungle
Swamp
Rugged (everything is just too darn smooth in Avernum!)

Think of the glorious rewards as scenario developers use YOUR terrain sets!

Seems fine here. 418, not 18 records.

What browser/platform are you using? Also, when you say only 18 records show, is this true when you click on "Show all Records?"

We need to ID a good webring, then. I'm not real stuck on the BoE webring. It works, but just.

Also, as there is a dead BoA webring already there, best to move to a different, better system.

Anyone out there have a suggestion?
