It was way bizarre.

And, for some odd reason, during some summonings in both Bahs and Backwater, the giants that showed up were missing the top half of the graphic, so the giant legs were running around attacking people. I don't know if both of those scenarios change the settings for that monster so it only uses one graphic instead of the normal two (if so, why???), or if there's some other sort of wonkiness going on.

The reason I bring this up is I'm thinking of trying to make PC summons restricted to certain kinds of monsters in my scenario, but the examples I ran into above imply that even if I come up with a way, weird monsters from other scenarios (or bizarre nightmares like the torso-less giants) might accidentally show up anyway.

In the data script, the monster data is wrong. This has nothing to do with custom scenarios. You need to correct the values to get the giant to have a full body.

One of the items that can only be found in the HLPM not the scenarios so far is Polished Platemail. Another is Micah's Gloves.

Nothing quite so powerful, however.

Or

Why not?

Are the monsters that can be summoned via the built-in spells set to certain monsters or to the monster ID. If I replace the ID, does the summon also change?

Or is it limited to Hostile, Level Specific monsters? If I boosted Arcane Summon high enough, could I summon any creature? Is there a way to exclude certain creatures from being summonable?

It is not "revenge" is it? I haven't played yet. One of these days...

Edit:
Oh. Nevermind. The answer is Death.

That whole ground pixie for pixie dust part. I don't think that is from Exile/Avernum. I believe it is from.. Um. I don't remember what, but it was either a book or a movie. Dang. I can't remember the title.

I just copied this from the first post:
code = if (species_in_party(3) == 0)

Is there a species #3? I thought the valid range was 0-2.

Edit:
Try adding get_species(which_char) to the dialog code. After it runs through the party members, you can see values it returns. Maybe there is a problem with the program.

Okay. Lets see. You have a properly named cmg file. The resource number does not conflict. You have the data script calling the correct resource number. As long as those 3 are met, then you should have no problems.

Do not open the scenario. Open the scenario's .cmg file. It stores the game's resources. If you do not have a .cmg file, then create one.

I often switch the first two characters. I hate going in and out of combat, so I just walk into them enemy to kill them. Combat mode is for long-range enemies. When I tire of using the first, I swap them.

I always wondered. If you remove spells or levels from a character, how do you give them back to the correct character? I mean, what if the party order is swapped?

Edit:

I haven't tried this yet, but I was thinking of a switched ability monster. There is a command to change innate monster abilities. How about, invisiblity switched with paralysis? Every turn it it turn invisible, and when it goes to attack, the invisibility drop and the monster has paralysis.

I have to see if this would work though.
