Marnok's riddle you have to answer to get his bracelet in the secret room off the chamber where he's held. This is below the old fort of rebels that summoned the Haakai.

"What is this thing that having it, you can no longer give it away, but lacking it, for the moment at least, you can give it to those who must pay?"

It is not "revenge" is it? I haven't played yet. One of these days...

Edit:
Oh. Nevermind. The answer is Death.

It's in a secret chamber behind where you finally defeat Marnok. My first guess was 'justice' which I think fits just as well.

It's the best item you'll get in any scenario so far (not including the god items). In fact it's so good it's too good.

It's a protective charm and turns the user invulnerable for a short time.

What I wanted to know about the riddle: How do you find the right answer without peeping into the script? Is there a hint somewhere? Because - as you said - revenge or justice would fit as well.

I peeped into the script myself but I don't think there is a clue, you just have to figure it out.

Yup, you're just supposed to figure it out.

And about revenge and justice: I guess they would fit, but not as well as death. I mean, can you give revenge, or justice, to those who must pay and so forth?

About the bracelet you get, what I mean to ask is if the bracelet is usable once per day or if its one of those things you put on and it works when ever you start battle or enter combat

You can surely give revenge or justice to those who must pay, but having received revenge or justice does not necessarily make you incapable of doling it out.

Why don't you just try it, Saintofsword? It's usable endlessly.
And yes you're right Imban, revenge and justice don't really fit.

It's a beautiful riddle BTW, a true poem. Did you write it Smoo?

No, I didn't write the riddle myself. I wanted to get a good riddle rather quickly when I made that part, so I "borrowed" one from the freeware game Betrayal at Krondor.
