Just wondering... in Nethergate

There is this house near the beginning of the game which has an herb patch which you can raid. I was wondering, does raiding the herbs have any effect later in the game? So far, I haven't noticed any.

Sophisticated life form she may be, but she's still an arrogant twit who deserves to be poked by my PC's sharp pointy sticks.

Thanks Schrodinger! Oh, I was wondering: those torches you mentioned, are they in Hagfen? If so, are they on the ground-floor or in the basement?

On several occasions I have tried to use the Character Editor to fix stupid mistakes I have made, such as casting Charm Beast on one of those annoying giant lizards in the lair of Reptrakose (or what ever it's name is) then accidently killing them with Ice Lances before the charming spell had worn off. For some reason this made the dragon very angry and Reset Hostile Towns wouldn't work. I have also accidently killed other semi-important NPCs and can't bring them back to life with the editor. Is this a bug in the editor, or did Jeff mean to do this?

On another note entirely: how do you complete the Selkie Chieftain's quest as Celts or Romans without cheating?

I think the priest spells come from The Spider Lord, or maybe the Xian Skull.

I always thought the answer should have been a horn. "Blows," get it? Oh well, it just had to be "shield" I guess.

The grapes are in the first cell of G1023.BMP in the Nethergate\Data folder. As far as I know, they were never used in the game.

Also, I have no problem with edited spiderweb graphics. I am particularly fond of my knife graphic on TM's site, which, as you can probably tell, is an edit of the Ceremonial Dagger.

PS: What's with the graphic in the fifth cell of G1025.BMP in Avernum 2? No item in the game uses it, so is it a leftover from Avernum 1?

P.P.S. As for the "Unedited items from Avernum/Nethergate" would you kindly take a closer look, Only the blue armour and the green cape are not my own invention. The tileset on the left, features foods and many other items at 1/2 size that were not made so in the original game, I did so out of neccessity. Perhaps if you looked at some of my other work, you'd see how much effort goes into my tilesets.

Sorry man, that's not exactly what I meant. I was talking about the fact that you had multiple item graphics taken directly from Avernum and Nethergate (example: Grapes).

I can't claim to have never used any original Spiderweb graphics, but at TM's site (remember: the thing labeled "Cell Phone" is a can of kippered herring) I at least told him that the sling was taken straight from Nethergate, so that's his fault.

Clouds of Night is in the place where you can buy guardian spirits. Call Hunt is in the north-western part of the Maze of Thorns. When you enter the area where you learn the spell, a spider will ask you a riddle. The answer is obvious: 0.

Just out of curiosity Motekye, why do you have so many original Spiderweb graphics on your item-site? There were those two square images containing item graphics, and the one on the right was about ½ original, unedited items from Avernum/nethergate.

I doubt it would be hard to make a monster drop a "Bloody Corpse" item, the only problem that would occur is if a dungeon has too many corpses lying around. Not only could it easily max out the item limit, but it would be annoying to have to sift through the corpses to find the useful items. In short, I don't like the idea. If you want violence, play Half-Life. It's a lovely Mature-rated game in which you can splatter things on the walls.

I think you should be able to cast mage (and priest) spells at any level up to and including the maximum level you know it at. For example, in Avernum 2 there was the spell Bind Foe. This spell webbed on L1, put to sleep on L2, and paralyzed on L3. At certain times, most notably when fight Naga, it irritated me to no end that my level 58 mage could not Bind the Naga in any way. Nothing could resist webs, but just about anything which you would want to bind for a turn or two at higher levels could resist being paralyzed. I found myself constantly using the character editor to change the spell level.
If any spells like Bind foe are included in BoA I strongly suggest allowing players to choose the level at which to cast it. Although paralyzing is the way to go with dervishes, webbing is the best thing to use against monsters like Demons, Nagas, and Liches.

No, that's definitely a Beast Elixir. You can't make your own Healing Elixirs in Nethergate, I checked with the character editor.

You pray at the big stone alter in the circle. If you have gotten to some point in the game (I can't remember what part that is) The Gods will teach it to you.
