Well, the ducks weren't actually ducks, just dragons depicted as well as Atari was able to. Which, as you may gather, wasn't very well. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Unless you count Adventure, which was pretty fun -- how many other games are there in which you get to fight man-eating ducks with a spear? -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

There are quite a few things that can cause this error. The most common are graphical problems (such as using windowed walls with a wallset that doesn't have any windowed walls), or passing illegal arguments to a function (such as trying to modify the status of a character that doesn't exist). Without actually seeing the scenario you've made and knowing the points at which the error occurs, I can't really be more specific. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! I suspect from context that the phrase was intended to convey the meaning of non-(human males) rather than (non-human) males. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

There's nothing wrong with console RPGs. Sure, gameplay mechanics are generally simpler due to the limitations of the medium, but simplicity is not necessarily a disadvantage. My first introductions to the RPG genre were Phantasy Star and Ultima IV, which are fairly archetypal examples of console and computer RPGs respectively, so I've developed a pretty balanced view of the merits of the two. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! quote:This, I suppose, is a fair point. If people had a greater ability to distinguish behaviour that's genuinely harmful and needs to be changed from behaviour which is merely unusual, though, it wouldn't be necessary. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Yeah, Salmon said it more politely than I. Basically, my contention is that defining people who exhibit a certain set of behaviours as having a "disorder" tends to harm them because they're then perceived as different, separated from the rest of humanity by a biological chasm that cannot be bridged. Considering that most "developmental disorders" and "personality disorders" have no effective treatment, I just don't see any advantage in defining a group of people as having such disorders. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! A word of warning: move_to_new_town can ONLY be called by stepping into a special rectangle (the things that show up as blue rectangles in the editor). You can't call it from a terrain script, a creature script, the START_STATE, or anything else. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! I prefer plain old Mozilla to Firefox. It's more stable, and occasionally I need to use other Mozilla Suite features like Composer (which produces about the cleanest HTML of any HTML editor I know of). -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! It's not all bad. In Avernum, unlike Exile, you can drop things on the ground pretty much anywhere and they won't disappear forever when you leave town. You have to admit, that's of much more *practical* value than being able to put things on tables. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Asperger's is a pretty heavily overdiagnosed condition that can be used to refer to a whole range of different behaviours that some psychologist judges as being pathological. Now, I don't want to come across as sounding like some kind of raving Thomas Szasz fanboy, but he makes a fair point when he says that mental illness can't be used as an excuse to escape responsibility for one's actions; regardless of the causes of a behaviour, it still affects others in the same way. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! You know, the editor comes with documentation. You can look up any of the calls in the Appendices. quote:So as you can see, it only needs 3 arguments, not 4. The first, as you said, is the town number, and the next two are the X and Y coordinates to move the party to. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Follow that long, long river all the way back to the south, then take the eastern tributary all the way to the end and wander around. Note that this takes a LOT of time that you don't really have to spare, and the reward isn't worth it. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure!
