quote:Basilisk II can only emulate a 68k Mac -- the kind that run at, oh, around 33 MHz at most. There's no way to run OS X on a system like that, and a fortiori no way to run Return to Dark Castle. I'd recommend just waiting for the Windows version to come out. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

It's about time. RtDC's been in development for, what, 5 years now? Probably longer. Still, it's good news: there aren't too many good 2D platformers being made outside of handhelds these days. Now here's hoping the designers didn't screw it up. EDIT: 12 years, apparently. By the way, you really do want to get the Repair Moseh quest, even if you don't want to complete it. Failing to get it means you'll be locked out of Shaper quests for the rest of the game. Even if you get the quest and then kill Moseh, you can report back to Alwan and he'll give you a second chance. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! By the way, it's probably not worth paying to improve spells you already know unless you have nothing else to spend your money on. The bonus from each level is quite small, equivalent to getting one extra point of Magery or Spellcraft. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! quote:Yeah. It's much better to ask a simple trivia question, like "What is Hillary Clinton's first name?" (No, really. I'm aware of a blog that uses precisely that question to keep bots out, and it seems to work perfectly.) Of course, that's not going to happen either, because SW doesn't have the resources to modify UBB. I just realised that despite all my posts in this topic, I haven't yet said what I'm doing. I'm in the middle of a Master of Arts (Science, Communication and Society), which is about as confusing as it sounds. I'm also doing an internship copy-editing articles for a small literary/political journal based out of a local university. This is pretty much my dream job, as it allows me to read a bunch of interesting stuff whilst engaging in unfettered pedantry. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! As regards point 5, perhaps in his next game Jeff could consider giving the party access to a source of endlessly respawning experience-giving monsters as a "reward" for completing the final expert area? That'd provide a little extra treat for those who enjoy maxing out their party's levels, but without breaking game balance (since if you can get there, you can beat anything else in the game already). By the way, as far as point 8 goes, you really must be looking at the Exile games through rose-coloured glasses. There was lots of unsellable junk in those: plates, cups and so on. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Fun fact: chances are that if you use the word "pomp", you've failed to sidestep it. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

I also like how you apparently think you're capable of reading the mind of every Muslim in the Middle East. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |
