quote:Thuryl -- You have an odd definition of a variable as most computer scientists would disagree. Reals, logicals, strings, double precisions, integers are all types of variables -- a fairly general term. What you mean is that 16-bit integers go from -32768 to 32767. Integer is a type of variable, but it is not to only type, just a convenient one for the application of RPGs. I believe the type of variable in C is called a short, either way an 8-bit integer. Flags are indeed variables of an 8-bit integer type. It's just that flags are a special kind of variable (well, an element in an array actually) that has been predefined for us by Jeff. Keep in mind, we can define "short" variables that behave just like flags do. We can also define "int" variables that give us more bits. Unfortunately, we cannot define reals that would allow floating point operations. So the answer is, variables go from *it depends on the type*. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

The logical limit for typical variables would be from 0 to 255. Flags are short variables, I believe. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Unlock is not worthless if you focus on magic and not on tool use. Keep in mind there are other play styles than your own. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Yep, you should be able to see the gate closed gate through a window, it's on the floor, but you have to look carefully. If you didn't pass through a temple to get here, you are in the wrong place. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Outside of the final dungeon, before the entrance, just north of the field of pylons head to the far west. You need very high nature lore to get it. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

I'd guess he refers to old radio slang of "roger" when it implies that the message has been received. I'm still not sure of the exact connotation, however. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

A world can mean more than one thing, it can be metaphorical and dynamic. There is the universal world as in planet Earth, but there is also a subjective world that contains everything important to the individual. Planet is a more scientific definition (although there is always some debate on what should and should not be a planet), but typically it is reserved for a large body, whether rocky or gaseous, orbiting a star. In other words, world can mean the same thing as planet, but can be different depending on the context. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power!
