Slarty is tricky to judge: He's got a low member number, but he didn't really become active before 2006. Now, however, he is quickly evolving into a caustic oldbie who has always been here. :P

Slarty was some kind of creepy lurking invisible newb who burst into full existence spontaneously.

—Alorael, who also feels praised. Scorp doesn't deign to scorn just anyone, you know.

Sure. Like you expect us to believe that. :P

No, you've got your third-person posters mixed up. Dikiyoba "tastefully spams." Alorael's spam has been described as "useful." You should give that cake to Dikiyoba.

'Zounds, no. I made an account to post a question about a game back in 2001. I then forgot about the boards until last year. I may be creepy, but I have never been a "lurking invisible newb."

17th with 104 posts, which is theoretically too few. I've been on the top before though, one month anyway. This thousand may not be achieved in 109 days.

So, why do we not have posting rankings for the year? Huh?

EDIT: Thanks for pointing that out, Dikiyoba. But anyway, the Current page is broken. And since that's where the link in Aran's sig leads, perhaps it ought to be fixed.

Are you sure you have the April monthly summary and not the current monthly summary? The April monthly summary works for Dikiyoba, but not the current monthly summary.

How does one post 300+ times in a month? Well only 47 for me, probably because of midtermz and finalz.

See, the system works by saving a new table every month. These tables are called endeavor200604 and so on. At the same time, the current data is in endeavor_cur - this table is updated, and then it is copied to a new table named endeavor200604.

Unfortunately, the program has a hard time deciding if right now it should compare the table endeavor_cur with endeavor200604, or with endeavor200603. Since I still suck at programming, it currently wants to compare endeavor_cur with endeavor200604. These tables are identical, which causes divisions by zero and other nasty things.

I'll try to fix that.

Meanwhile, the surest way to get the correct rankings is to select "2006-04" on the pull-down menu, instead of "Current". This link leads directly to that page.

Slarty, you were a nearly invisible newbie. There's no denying it. Just be proud of your Arctic survival skills.

(Looks back at stats.)

Hey, half the people in the Top Ten have a member number greater than 6000. It IS true! Newbs of the boards, UNITE!

That is quite unusual... perhaps a new generation of active members has arisen. Or maybe most of the older oldbies are overworked right now.

That said, I'm proud to have a number in the 4000s. Come to think of it, I registered awfully close to Kelandon.

If Thuryl and I had been posting at our past rates you could bump the bottom two names.

Aran, Alo, and Kel are always on the list. Ben seems to have slowed down. About 5 names on that list are new to me.

I slipped onto the list thanks to A4. Now that the questions are winding down for that I'm having to do more in General and the older Avernum Trilogy and Exile forums.

I think the reason that newer members made the top 10 was that some members cut back like Thuryl and Synergy.

Any chance that starting polls can be restricted to having a post count over 200? It might save time in eliminating new polls by new members. I have to drop in several times a day to see threads before they get locked.

There is no way to prevent newbies under 200 posts from starting polls. It is possible to delete/lock polls by newbies under 200 posts, no questions asked. But that would be pointless, because useless polls already get locked anyway.

We do need up and coming newbies, though. We can't just talk as one fixed group all the time, and people leave every once in a while.

Leave? Why would anyone want to leave here? Have you been out there lately? The people are insane. Well maybe that's not a good arguement considering the stability of some posters.

This is where I go to get away from reality. There's usually something here that's worth reading. If not I can always go back through old threads for a good laugh.

It just the quality of some newbies, especially after & in the end, makes me prefer the older members.
