It's mostly that Jeff doesn't want to upgrade and the members don't want to move to another board to continue in a better environment. There are satellite boards that come and go and are mostly for the Blades groups.

By the way how is Polaris doing?

You could always ask for the custom title to be given to your other accounts too. Of course this opens you up to whatever whims strike the admins if they make a change.

Night was falling as Al reached a small village marked as Emerald Cliffs on his map. It didn't look like it deserved a name. The roads were dirt and there didn't appear to be an inn. This was just great.

Al decided to approach the largest building. It appeared to be some sort of temple. The people were mostly gathered there so he would probably find someone to answer his questions.

Al asked a villager, "Where's the inn?"

The village stared at him. "Inn? We don't have an inn. We rarely get strangers here."

"What do you have to drink?" inquired Al. He was running low on his supplies and was saving the good stuff to celebrate his accomplishments when he found the ember flowers.

"There is water in the well, but the curse has made it foul," the village said.

"Water! Water is for cleaning. I meant whiskey, brandy, beer, or even ale."

The village shrugged. "We don't have that here. Maybe the priest can help you."

Just great. He had passed beyond the edge of civilization into the wilds. No alcohol, sob.

I suppose I could wander into Emerald Cliffs. I won't like it. Too small for an inn, probably no booze, and they think you're suppose to drink water. :(

Then there are you guys to deal with in the place.

Well two years ago the titles were based on Exile, then Avernum, so I guess it's Geneforge's turn with GF 5 on the way. I was hoping for Nethergate.

Does this mean that next year for Avernum 6 we go to Empire titles?

Too late ET, you already are an insider joke. Not that funny but still a joke.

"Well, fine. Be that way." Randomizer wandered off.

Seems like a great start. Oh, and that's why I learned to read upside down.

That's why I keep my real name off these boards as much as I can. Someday someone might try to find out about my views and past behavior.

Congratulations on making 2000. Post more and you'll be considered a sage. *snicker*

You can always go back and play the game with a handicap. Only one character, no spells, no fighters, no mages, certain types of traits, etc.

Play them all as Avernum 2 has a better plot than Avernum.

McCain for all is his political faults enlisted to fight in Vietnam because he comes from a military family. When he was shot down and captured, he could have been released because his father was an admiral, but chose to stay to support other prisoners. Unlike most politicians supporting the Iraq War, his son is actually serving there.

Otherwise McCain is a jerk.
