By playing through, oh, 70 to 80% of the game and finding out what makes them tick, what their weakness is, and having the right special item. You can not kill the shade in the demo. And once you have the right item and the knowledge, you may not kill them even them. Depending on party construction, they can be pretty tough to deal with. Caution is advised. It is probably best to be about level 25 to 30ish. Maybe higher. -------------------- If I could make just one wish, I would want a tasty vlish. Geneforge IV. Still no tasty vlish. I had problems all though the beta with random slowness on my machine, mostly when I tried doing a screen capture. (On a Mac) Whole system would slow to a crawl. And most of the time, I couldn't get the screen capture to work on the first try, I had to keep jabbing the key repeatedly. -------------------- If I could make just one wish, I would want a tasty vlish. There is one major drawback that I really loathe about quick action. Getting that second strike can on occasion, set off a chain of events that may lead to you getting killed. -------------------- If I could make just one wish, I would want a tasty vlish. When you spell 'mouse' you do not take the 'u' out. It would be 'mose' and it would look silly. Or house. Hose. Group. Grop. Soup. Sop. Coup. Cop. See a pattern here? Colour. Favourite. Capitalisation, spelling, grammar, and punctuation all help too. And perhaps a handle that is clever and catchy, with out a long string of letters. Something simple and straightforward, like *i. See, that is clever and catchy. -------------------- If I could make just one wish, I would want a tasty vlish. Geneforge IV. Still no tasty vlish. quote:Yes, but what of the various splinter groups that don't like magic? And what of the Empire? I mean, as a question, if you were the Empire as a collective, magic would be far more threatening to the stability of your power than technology. Magic is hard to control. Look at all the wizards sent to Exile. Magic is wild and unpredictable. Technology on the other hand, can be controlled. Somewhat. The big problem here is, the Empire has all of this wreckage... The destroyed factories left behind after the attempt to destroy the surface. You don't think they are going to sit idly by and just ignore all of this advanced new technology do you? -------------------- If I could make just one wish, I would want a tasty vlish. Geneforge IV. But industry is already creeping in to both games. Golem factory and the new factory. Various mechanical devices. Beam projecters. Ok, a bit beyond the industrial age, but you get the idea. Technology is ramping up, and things are happening outside the control of magic. And there are groups like the Anama... Anybody else catch the little twist about the Anama being plagued by a factory? That is what their future would be if they had their way and had a world with very little magic... Factories and filth. In the Geneforge world, there are the clockwork golems, drakkons, etc. Tinkers. Machines of all shapes and sizes. Automated factories. Labs. All these great indicators that the world is on the verge of some sort of technological revolution. I think that is one of the things that has always appealed to me in Jeff's games. The feeling that everything is about to change. -------------------- If I could make just one wish, I would want a tasty vlish. Geneforge IV. Still no tasty vlish. I'd like to see a Geneforge or Avernum type world entering the early industrial age. With crude guns maybe, and more machines. I for one would be interested on Jeff's take on that sort of thing. What happens when technology really begins to take off in a world like that of Avernum or Geneforge, when suddenly Dervishes and their armor aint so hot any more, because anybody with a pistol could easily do them in. How would the Empire deal with growing problems like Democracy, and the gun, which would even give lowly peasants a voice. How well would Shapers deal with all the changes brought about by technology. How effective and terrorising could an Agent be when guns, while crude, are so much more simple? -------------------- If I could make just one wish, I would want a tasty vlish. Geneforge IV. Hey, I only made the statement about games designed to entertain vlish, starring vlish, simply because it was funny... A vlish asking for vlish oriented games.
